Experimental investigation of extra-long pulsating heat pipe application in solar water heaters

Abstract
In this study, the aim is to investigate the application of pulsating heat pipes (PHPs) as a heat transfer tool in a solar water heater (SWH). For this purpose, an extra-long pulsating heat pipe (ELPHP) is designed, constructed and installed in a thermosyphon solar water heater. In this work the ELPHPs are made of copper tubes of internal diameter 2.0. mm. The number of meandering turns is 6 and the working fluid employed is distilled water. The lengths of condenser and evaporator sections are 0.8 and 0.96. m, respectively. The length of adiabatic section varies between 0.7 and 1.8. m. Abstract
Adsorption and dissociation of NO on RhxCu4-x(x = 0–4) nano clusters were investigated using density functional theory. Adsorption energy, total charge on NO, NO bond length, and NO vibrational frequency for various modes of NO adsorption were analyzed. Adsorption from the nitrogen end of NO on the Rh atom(s) of the clusters are more favored and adsorption energies are in the −1.02 eV to −2.59 eV range. NO binds stronger to Rh-Cu mixed clusters compared to pure Cu4 cluster, so N[sbnd]O bond is significantly weakened upon adsorption on the former. Abstract
In this study, electronic structure, stability, and tendency to exchange electron of neutral, anionic, and cationic RhxCu4-x (x = 0-4) small clusters were investigated by density functional theory calculations. For neutral small clusters, it was found that the most stable structures of Rh4, Rh3Cu and Rh2Cu2 have distorted tetrahedral shape while the most stable structures of RhCu3 and Cu4 have quasi-planer shape. Adding charges to the clusters, caused shapes of the most stable structures undergo variations. In this study, electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) was studied on Cu, Pd, Rh, Pd-Cu and Rh-Cu alloys in alkaline solution. Pd-Cu and Rh-Cu alloys were prepared by electrochemical methods. On copper electrode it is found that direct oxygen reduction is accompanied by the electrochemical reductions of copper oxides. Also, mechanism and kinetics of reaction change as the amount of copper oxides increase on the surface. In this study a new Ni(II)-¬oxazoline complex was synthesized by reaction of Ni(CH3COO)2.4H2O and 2-(2׳-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxazoline ligand in MeOH solvent. The resulting complex bis[2-(2׳-hydroxyphenyl)-2-oxazolinato]Ni(II), was characterized by different spectroscopic methods. Due to the prominence of the evaluation of the consequences of rising temperatures, this paper examines the effects of temperature variation on mortality across different demographic groups in Iran. I use a rich weekly data set from 2009 to 2017 across different demographic groups to understand the potential health impacts of climate change in a developing country. Using several fixed effect regressions, I discover that for an additional day with a mean temperature over 25°C, mortality rate increases by 2.56% relative to the effects of an extra day in 0-5 °C, in the weekly temperature exposure horizon. Abstract
In this study, graphene sheets and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were selectively grown on Fe foil at a relatively low growth temperature and varying cooling rates using a hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) apparatus with C2H2 as the precursor. The results of the scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy revealed that the increase of the cooling rate from 7 to 10 or 20 °C/min provoked a structure transition from CNT to graphene. The optimum crystal quality of the graphene sheets (Iq/Id ∼1.1) was achieved at the cooling rate of 20 °C/min. Abstract
Patella is the latest addition to the animal's skeleton. It's role in normal walking has not been clearly defined. A 9-year-old girl with congenital absence of the patella was assessed using instrumented gait analysis. The results show a tendency for the limb for external rotation, which is more pronounced during swing. We suggest that the role of the patella is mainly to redirect the force of the quadriceps tendon medially. The classically described role, which is to increase the lever arm of the quadriceps tendon, was not confirmed in this study. © 2018 Elsevier B.V

Abstract
The adsorption and dissociation of H2O2 on small PdxM3-x (M=Pt, Cu; x = 1-3) clusters is investigated using the B3PW91 hybrid density functional method. Natural bond orbitals are analysed to obtain partial charges on atoms, dipole moments, bond orders, and hybrid orbitals of the PdxM3-x-H2O2 systems. The calculated adsorption energies are in the range of -0.32 to -2.12 eV. Generally, H2O2 adsorbs on top positions through one of its oxygen atoms and only in a few cases reacts with the cluster through both oxygen and hydrogen sides. In the latter case the cluster sites which are negatively charged interact with the hydrogen atoms. Interestingly, on the triplet Pd2Pt cluster, H2O2 dissociates...
