Design, Simulation and Fabrication of Thz Absorber for Thermal Superconducting Detector
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Fardmanesh, Mehdi (Supervisor)
Abstract
At almost all frequencies, we have good methods to generate and detect electromagnetic radiations. One crucial exception is the low terahertz range, where despite intensive research there is a severe lack of proper devices for many applications in this frequency range such as oscillators and detectors that is so-called THz gap and includes 0.3 to 10 THz spectrum. There are different types of THz detectors but bandwidth of dection of most of them is narrow. Among these detectors, superconducting transition edge balometer detector has detectivity in wide frequency range. But generally, detectivity of these detectors strongly depends on their ability to absorb radiations of electromagnetic waves...
Numerical Study of Vascular Shear Stress Effects on Blood Clotting Processes
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Firoozabadi, Bahar (Supervisor)
Abstract
Blood clotting and clot formation in damaged vessels are vital mechanisms of the body. Any disorder in performing this mechanism leads to various problems such as excessive bleeding or, on the contrary, causes vascular occlusion and diseases such as embolism. Due to the importance of this issue, extensive research has been done to understand this phenomenon and the factors affecting it. In this thesis, the effect of shear stress, coagulation factor concentration and wound location in coronary bifurcation on clot formation and growth and its interaction with velocity field is numerically investigated. Blood flow is modeled non-Newtonian with Carreau-Yasuda model. Various chemical species...
Functional Connectivity in Depressive Disorder Using Functional Magnetic

Abstract
Evidence shows that people with depressive disorder show altered functional connectivity in some of the parts of the brain. The functional characteristics of these brain areas in people with this disorder have not been completely determined. On the other hand, some researchers have rejected the static nature of functional connectivity and stated that functional connectivity changes over time. Measuring brain activity non-invasively with functional magnetic resonance imaging increases our understanding of brain organizations and functional mechanisms, so in this study, we used the functional magnetic resonance imaging data of 18 healthy subjects and 18 subjects with depression. Method: The...
Should fast-food franchisees pursue entrepreneurial orientation?

Abstract
Although it is widely accepted that entrepreneurial orientation (EO) improves firm performance, scholars have advised that particular attention should be paid to the context. In this research, we investigate a less explored context of franchising where business systems and procedures are usually dictated to franchisees by franchisors. Therefore, whether a franchisor should allow franchisees to pursue EO (innovativeness, proactiveness, risk-taking, competitive aggressiveness, and autonomy) is not clear. In the context of franchising, the majority of prior studies have mainly focused on the employment of EO as a unidimensional construct and at the franchisor level. In this research, we take a...

An Anonymity Approach Using Cooprerative Security
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Jalili, Rasoul (Supervisor)
Abstract
Providing anonymity in communications is one of the major requirements for the preserving the privacy of users using communication networks. There are several protocols for transmitting anonymous message in public communication networks. DC-Nets can be considered as an important solution to anonymous communications because they provide perfect anonymity; however, their high message and bit complexity is a major obstacle in their practical usage. All DC-Net based protocols provide anonymity of sender and receiver by establishing some anonymous channels for transmission of messages. Each execution of the DC-Net protocol acts as an anonymous channel, which only one participant can send his...
Prevention of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) and probiotics: Mechanism of action: A review

Abstract
Background: Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM) is a health problem that is increasing around the world. Introduction: Prevention of GDM, rather than treatment, could have several benefits in terms of both health and economic cost. Even a slight reduction in maternal glucose in non-diabetic women, particularly in women at high risk for GDM, may have significant benefits for pregnancy results and the future health of off-springs. Probiotics are a relatively new intervention, which are assessed by mothers’ metabolism, and can reduce blood sugar levels, prevent gestational diabetes and reduce the maternal and fetal complications resulting from it. The aim of this study was to review the studies...
