    Design and Implementation of a Real-time Heuristic Algorithm for In-Motion Alignment of a Strapdown Inertial Navigation System

    In this work, the in-motion estimation of Euler angles of a strapdown inertial navigation system is studied using a speedometer, as an aided navigation sensor. First, the derivation of governing error equations has been done. Then, the most appropriate heuristic filters available in references have been chosen for this study. Among this filters, unscented particle filter, that has better performance and conditions for the real-time implementation, has been chosen.     In this paper, a new model-based Fault Detection and Diagnosis (FDD) method for an agile supersonic flight vehicle is presented. A nonlinear model, controlled by a classical closed loop controller and proportional navigation guidance in interception scenario, describes the behavior of the vehicle. The proposed FDD method employs the Inertial Navigation System (INS) data and nonlinear dynamic model of the vehicle to inform fins damage to the controller before leading to an undesired performance or mission failure.     An integrated guidance and control (IGC) is designed in this study for a surface-to-air missile considering burned or broken fin as a fault. The IGC model in the pitch plane is developed with various uncertainties in the presence of fin failure. The considered fault may cause a change in the vehicle’s shape that leads to a change in aerodynamic coefficients and consequently in the model.     A special type of shell structure - a concrete shallow funicular shell of circular plan - is considered in this paper. Funicular shells carry their dead weight only by in-plane compression forces. Numerical analysis of funicular shells was performed using the non-linear finite-element method, considering both geometric and material non-linearities. A circular-plan concrete funicular shell unit was also constructed and its ultimate central concentrated load is determined.     This paper considers a realistic multi-service system design problem in which each service type is a stochastic sequence of services provided by different units of facilities where each facility is modeled as a set of open Jackson queueing networks. The problem is first formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming model, which is further simplified to a model with a smaller number of constraints.     Chaotic Flow in transportation networks has been the subject of several studies. Evolutionary models have been employed to simulate traffic flows. This study takes advantage of an existing evolutionary model of traffic assignment to show that chaotic phenomena arise when the model’s driving force is speed or density, of traffic flow.     Deblurring of Hyperspectral Images via Hyperspectral Unmixing

    In this thesis, we propose a new compressed-sensing-based algorithm for unmixing of hyperspectral data, and show that the reconstruction quality could be significantly improved. In addition, we illustrate that by utilizing this approach, we can achieve an approximate estimation of the Point Spread Function (PSF) of the hyperspectral images. In this way, we first assume that the PSF belongs to a specific family of functions, such as Gaussian, then, by sweeping the parameters of the assumed PSF, we obtain the abundance coefficient matrix of the reconstructed image. The method consists of designing a desired trajectory for lateral motion of the vehicle and then using a lateral motion controller for tracking this desired trajectory. This paper presents a multi objective optimization framework to reach the minimum economic costs and Global Warming Potential (GWP) impact of existing buildings. New energy-efficient technologies for the supply side of the energy system are considered which may minimize life cycle environmental impacts of buildings.     Microbial desalination cell (MDC) is a new bio-electrochemical technique which converts chemical energy into electrical energy, and at the same time desalinates water and treats wastewater. In this study, MDC performance and water biofouling conditions were tested as an efficient pretreatment desalination process of reverse osmosis (RO). The experiments were designed in a three-chamber reactor to compare the performance of batch and continuous fed modes, using bio-cathode and synthetic wastewater in four different hydraulic retention times and 17 and 35 g/L NaCl concentrations.     This study evaluates the effectiveness of adsorption process by Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) compared with a novel formulation of coagulation - flocculation process for dye removal from textile wastewater. In this regard, acidic, reactive, disperse and direct red dye are used to prepare the synthetic dye. Dominant wave length for each dye is determined by spectrophotometeric method. Using GAC as adsorbent, equilibrium time and adsorption isotherm of each dye are determined with aid of spectrophotometric method. The results show that GAC can not remove dispersed red dye.
