    Abstract
    The absorber is an important component in absorption machines and its characteristics have significant effects on the overall efficiency of absorption machines. This article reports on the results of numerical studies on the characteristics of falling film LiBr-H2O solution on a completely wetted horizontal tube and the associated vapor absorption in the Reynolds number range of 5 < Re < 100. The boundary layer assumptions are used for the transport of mass, momentum and energy equations and the finite difference method is employed to solve the governing equations in the film flow.     An exact treatment of ellipsoid-substrate interactions

    Abstract
    We present an exact treatment of the pairwise surface interactions of biaxial ellipsoidal bodies and derive the exact explicit expressions for the attractive-repulsive Lennard-Jones(6-12) ellipsoid-substrate interactions. The applicability of the results at nanoscale as a coarse-grained description of molecule-substrate interactions has been studied through presenting parameterizations for a number of small biaxial molecules. The study concludes that the anisotropic coarse-grained potential reproduces the atomistic interactions of ellipsoid-like rigid molecules perfectly, with a negligible error of less than 3%.     Abstract
    We derive exact expressions for the forces and torques between biaxial molecules interacting via the RE-squared potential, a recent variant of the Gay-Berne potential. Moreover, efficient routines have been provided for rigid body MD simulations, resulting in 1.6 times speedup compared to the two-point finite difference approach. It has also been shown that the time cost of a MD simulation will be almost equal to a similar MC simulation, making use of the provided routines. © 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved

    We have proposed an efficient parametrization method for a recent variant of the Gay Berne potential for dissimilar and biaxial particles [Phys. Rev. E 67, 041710 (2003)] and demonstrated it for a set of small organic molecules. Compared with the previously proposed coarse-grained models, the new potential exhibits a superior performance in close contact and large distant interactions. The repercussions of thermal vibrations and elasticity have been studied through a statistical method.     Comparison of the traditional linear heating method of TPD with an original stepwise heating scheme was reported for the first time. Stepwise heating TPD was carried out by keeping the temperature constant as soon as ammonia desorption signal rises until the signal returns to the baseline. More ammonia desorption peaks on a SAPO-34 catalyst were identified using TPD with stepwise heating. The effect of temperature ramp on desorption peak broadening in TPD curve was also addressed.     Most part of Iran is dominated by arid and semi-arid areas due to low annual rainfall. The need for production of fresh water from brackish water is considerably high, especially in dry regions. In this study 1 month daily-based experimental data from a solar still site has been reported. The technical and operational problems of this site which finally contributed to the total cease of the site are described.     Hydrocracking is one of the most versatile petroleum refining processes for production of valuable products including gasoline, gas oil, and jet fuel. In this paper, a five-parameter continuous lumping model was used for kinetic modeling of hydrocracking of vacuum gas oil (VGO). The model parameters were estimated from industrial data obtained from a fixed bed reactor operating at an average temperature of 400°C and residence time of 0.3 h.     Real-time impulse noise suppression from images using an efficient weighted-average filtering

    Abstract
    In this letter, we propose a method for real-time high density impulse noise suppression from images. In our method, we first apply an impulse detector to identify the corrupted pixels and then employ an innovative weighted-average filter to restore them. The filter takes the nearest neighboring interpolated image as the initial image and computes the weights according to the relative positions of the corrupted and uncorrupted pixels. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the best existing methods in both PSNR measure and visual quality and is quite suitable for real-time applications

    Low silicon content SAPO-34 was successfully synthesized using the conventional hydrothermal crystallization in the static condition. Effects of different synthesis conditions including crystallization temperature and the silicon source were investigated through X-ray diffraction patterns. It was concluded that the silicon source had a significant effect on silicon incorporation into the alumino-phosphate building blocks in the course of crystallization.
