Management Systems for Energy: Applicability and Effectiveness Assessment with Special Reference Country's Energy Sector

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Birjandi Feriz, Maliheh (Author) ; Kaymaram, Farid (Supervisor) ; Bazari, Zabihollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Due to increase of industrial plants and development of cities in the world, there is an increase in demand for all types of energy, especially fossil fuels.Consequently, energy related decisions have become an important factor in national and international political decision makings. Regarding to remarkable effects of energy decisions on economical, industrial, political, social and environmental aspects of our country and considering the importance of energy management in our country as an energy-based country, we have focused in this research on studying several energy management systems (national and international systems) and made an assessment on their applicability and effectiveness....

Survey on the Effectiveness of Promotional and Communication Strategies Adopted by Financial Services

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sadeh, Farhad (Author) ; Birjandi, Heshmat (Supervisor)
    Abstract
High volume domestic and international trade and business and their risks, force companies and business people to use financial services such as banks and insurance companies much more than ever, but heavy competition in this industry impel financial service managers to work hard on their marketing strategies and plans. Promotion and communication tools are one of the most important parts of each marketing campaign, but they are usually very costly and marketing managers have to find and use more effective techniques to manage their budget limitation. The purpose of this thesis is to find out the most important promotional and communication strategies in financial services industry and to...

Study of Effects of Operational Parameters on Flooding in Pertraction of Dysprosium in a Vertical Pulsed Packed Column

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sadelari, Farzin (Author) ; Bastani, Dariush (Supervisor) ; Safdari, Jaber (Supervisor) ; Raji, Maliheh (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Pulsed packed columns are among the most important devices used in liquid-liquid extraction, with wide application in petroleum and petrochemical industries, metal salt extraction, pharmaceutical industries, metallurgy, and other areas. Liquid-membrane technology is an alternative separation technique to the liquid-liquid extraction for the extraction and recovery of metal ions from aqueous solutions. There are three main types of liquid membranes: emulsion liquid membrane (ELM), Bulk Liquid Membrane (BLM), and Supported Liquid Membrane (SLM). Liquid emulsion membrane is one of the pertraction methods with phase dispersion. It is a three-phase dispersion system, consisting: external phase,...

Essential Factors Affect Consumer Buying Decision Adapted by Snowa Company With Reference to Refrigerator

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kazemzadeh, Elaheh (Author) ; Miremadi, Alireza (Supervisor) ; Birjandi, Heshmat (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Consumers make buying decisions every day and managers or marketers try to understand why, when, where and how consumers make decisions to buy a product. One complex duty of managers is to understand consumer buying behavior in order to adapt their effort to consumers’ interest. Many studies gathered possible influent factors on consumer buying decisions that should consider as a basic of marketing strategy effort. In this time due to appearance large competitors and producers in the market of home appliance in Iran, consumers have more choice to select and purchase one product among different brands. In addition, high volume of advertizing, consistency of preliminary attribute among...

An energy efficient refractive structure for energy concentration on PV cells

    , Article 2010 IEEE International Energy Conference and Exhibition, EnergyCon 2010, 18 December 2010 through 22 December 2010, Manama ; 2010 , Pages 648-651 ; 9781424493807 (ISBN) Kavehvash, Z ; Rajaii, M ; Birjandi, A. M ; Gholamrezaei, H ; Gholamrezaei, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
In this paper a novel refractive structure for increasing the performance of photovoltaic cells1 is proposed. This structure which is named back-to-back-Fresnel lens is similar to conventional Fresnel lens used for energy concentration on PV cells while comprising some superior features. Among these features is its thinness, just like Fresnel lens, and lower loss of energy and simpler structure and design compared to a Fresnel lens with similar properties. The proposed lens is experimentally tested with a PV cell while the obtained results confirm its superior features

Modeling carbon dioxide emission of countries in southeast of Asia by applying artificial neural network

    , Article International Journal of Low-Carbon Technologies ; Volume 17 , 2022 , Pages 321-326 ; 17481317 (ISSN) Komeili Birjandi, A ; Fahim Alavi, M ; Salem, M ; Assad, M. E. H ; Prabaharan, N ; Sharif University of Technology
    Oxford University Press  2022
    Abstract
Energy and economy play a substantial role in environmental issues such as the emission of greenhouse gases. CO2 is one of the greenhouses that is hugely produced in industrial processes and other human being activities. The major share of CO2 emission is related to the energy-related activities. As a result, modeling the amount of produced CO2 by utilization of different energy sources must be considered. Moreover, by considering economic indicators such as gross domestic product, the accuracy of the model could be improved. In the present work, artificial neural network (ANN) with two transfer functions including normalized radial basis and tansig is used to model CO2 production of...

Analysis of the Ultrasonic Cavitation on the Cancer Tumors

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Maleki Birjandi, Morteza (Author) ; Ahmadian, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor) ; Fallah Rajabzadeh, Famida (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A complete understanding of high-intensity focused ultrasound-induced temperature changes in tissue requires insight into all potential mechanisms for heat deposition. Applications of therapeutic ultrasound often utilize acoustic pressures capable of producing cavitation activity. Recognizing the ability of bubbles to transfer acoustic energy into heat generation, a study of the role bubbles play in tissue hyperthermia becomes necessary. These bubbles are typically less than 50μm.
This dissertation examines the contribution of bubbles and their motion to an enhanced eating effect observed in a tissue-mimicking phantom. A series of experiments established a lationship between bubble...

    Abstract
Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the two solid malignancies in which a higher T cell infiltration in the tumor microenvironment (TME) corresponds with a worse prognosis for the tumor. The inability of T cells to eliminate tumor cells despite an increase in their number reinforces the possibility of impaired antigen presentation. In this study, we investigated the TME at single-cell resolution to understand the molecular function and communication of dendritic cells (DCs) (as professional antigen-presenting cells). According to our data, tumor cells stimulate the migration of immature DCs to the tumor site by inducing inflammatory chemokines. Many signaling pathways such as TNF-α/NF-κB,...
