Analysis and Control of Multi-swarm Robotic Crossing and Interfering Motion

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Daneshmand Dizicheh, Ali (Author) ; Alasti, Aria (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A swarm robotic is made up of a number of similar robots (identical) that these robots alone do not have any potential, but they can with each other have considerable potential. In recent years, engineers have become more interested in swarm robotic. Swarm robotic allows the use of several colleague robots instead of an advanced robot that eliminates excessive complexity and expensive equipment. The purpose of this study is to provide a method for solving the crossing problem and interfering between robot swarms. In previous studies conducted at the Sharif University of Technology, the main goal was to design algorithms for the swarm behavior of a swarm robotic. In this research, the aim is...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bahrami Dizicheh, Zahra (Author) ; Fattahi, Ali Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Hydrogen bond is a type of molecular bond which occurs between hydrogen and a highly electronegative atom (usually F, N and O) and results in special properties.Alkyl phosphonic acids and their derivatives have several applications as pesticides, antibiotics and anti-viruses. Furthermore, some chemicals in human nervous system hydrolyze to alkyl phosphonates and finally to methyl phosphonic acid. Linear alkyl phosphonic acids and their saults have both organic nonpolar hydrophobic groups and inorganic hydrophilic groups and used as surfactants.Different substituents can affect the acidity of alkyl phosphonic acids. Investigation have shown that hydroxyl functional group can increase the...

Geometrically Nonlinear Vibration of Concrete Funicular Shells Under Impulse Loads

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Daneshmand, Niloofar (Author) ; Mofid, Massoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Reinforced concrete shells are widely used to cover the small to large area with more aesthetics at minimum cost. Shell structures carry load through their shape rather than material strength. Funicular shells are special type of shells that their shape is obtained so that stresses be compressive under a special load (for shell, this load is its dead weight). This study deals with geometrically nonlinear vibration of funicular shells on a rectangular ground plan under impulse loads using nonlinear shallow shells theory. The boundary conditions are considered as clamped edges. Displacement components are product of position and time functions. The analysis is based on the expansion of...

Numerical Simulation of the Impact of a Drop with a Flat Surface in a Cross Flow, Using LBM

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Yazdani Dizicheh, Hamideh (Author) ; Taebi Rahni, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, numerical simulation of the impact of a drop on a flat surface with oblique velocity has been performed, using two-phase model of Lattice Boltzmann Method (conservative phase-field). During impact, it is important to investigate two-dimensional drop dynamics and to evaluate the effectiveness of the numerical method used. The model used here restores conservative phase field and preserves mass both locally and globally. In addition, to calculate the slope of the phase field, it calls the center points without engaging finite difference calculations. This makes it efficient for running parallel computations. A fixed dry and hard surface is considered and the drop impacts it...

    Abstract
This study deals with the geometrically non-linear vibration analysis of concrete shallow funicular shells of rectangular plan with four clamped edges under impulse loads. The shape of a concrete funicular shell is such that the shell is subjected to pure compression under its dead weight. Following the existing method presented for the linear vibration analysis, the geometrically non-linear vibration analysis is considered through the use of non-linear shallow shells theory. Each displacement component is expanded in a double Fourier series and the kinetic energy, the elastic strain energy and the virtual work done by external forces are calculated in terms of the displacement components....

Implementing a Software-Defined-Network Firewall on FPGA

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Daneshmand, Arash (Author) ; Jahangir, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Software defined networks are developed to provide programmability and a centralized view in networks by decoupling control plane from data plane. Software defined networks are now well received, and these networks are evolving every day. This is while more attention has been paid to widen the application of these networks and eliminating the shortcomings in their performance. On the other hand, in very large networks, the issue of efficiency and processing speed is of great importance. However, performance in these networks is not satisfactory, especially in single controller based SDN due to the complex processing of packets in a unique controller. Security needs are also of great...

    Abstract
In this paper, a novel model is proposed to predict stress behavior in the fibrous polymer composites under an applied tensile axial loading. Tangential stress is obtained by simulating between polymeric matrix flow (polyester) and fluid flow. In the other words, creep behavior of the petrochemical material or polymeric resin (matrix) is modeled using fluid flow theory. Furthermore, behavior of the shear stress is predicted by suitable mathematical functions. Finally, important relation is extracted by combining the solid and fluid mechanics formulations

    Abstract
In this paper a nonlinear dynamic model for drill string in inclined well drilling is developed. Effects of drilling mud flow rate, weight on bit, angular velocity along with viscous damping on stability and vibration of the drill string are studied. Findings indicate the nonlinear effects are significant on the results. The effects of drilling mud flow rate and weight on bit on the natural frequencies and time responses are evaluated. Enhancement of drilling mud flow rate results in decreasing of natural frequencies and vibrational amplitude, while increasing the weight on bit, leads to decrease of the natural frequencies and increase the vibrational amplitude. © JVE INTERNATIONAL LTD

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Daneshmand Kashani, Pargol (Author) ; Mohammdi Boghaei, Davar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Single molecule magnets due to their magnetic tunneling effect and the interaction they have with an external magnetic field are used widely in quantum computing and also the storage of data with high capacities. Polyoxometalates that are used as counter ions for cationic single molecule magnets, are able to affect their spin-couple nature via a magnetic exchange and also have an influence on the crystal accumulation in order to change the magnetic property of the molecule. In this research the probability of sedimenting a cationic single molecule magnet, [Mn4O2(CH3COO)7(bipy)2]+, with the use of anionic polyoxometalates with Keggin structures has been investigated. Thus, the single...

    Abstract
Two new correlation functions with three adjustable parameters for the calculation of thermal conductivity of gases, liquids, and refrigerants over wide temperature-pressure ranges are presented. It is shown that by using suitable mathematical expressions for the correlation functions, the number of adjustable parameters can be limited to three, which is less than for similar functions. The average and maximum deviation of the correlation compared with the measured data is about 1% and 8%, respectively

    Abstract
Analyzing contact stress in rails and wheels are very important in mechanical and railway engineering. In this paper, new formulations of the contact stress are presented for two rolling bodies by exponential and power law forms semi-analytically. Innovative elastic wheel-rail contact models and FE Modeling are proposed. The present model assumes the collection of rail and wheel as elastic deformable bodies and needs numerical and novel analytical solutions. Results of this work are close to the Hertz Stress, previous published work and FEM results, in which good agreements are found among the results. So, we can rely on this method and their results. With this approach, suitable results...

Effects of geometric factors and material properties on stress behavior in rotating disk

    , Article Indian Journal of Science and Technology ; Vol. 7, issue. 1 , Jan , 2014 , p. 1-6 Monfared, V ; Hassan, M ; Daneshmand, S ; Taheran, F ; Ghaffarivardavagh, R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this study, effects of geometric factors and material properties are investigated on stress behavior of circular rotating disk with constant rotation in various industrial mechanisms using equilibrium equations, geometric relations and stress functions. In this way, research on a thin uniform and homogeneous circular disk under constant rotation is considered. The rotating motion produces centrifugal acceleration on each element of the rotating disk, and this rotating motion becomes the source of external loading for the mentioned problem. Additional exterior loadings are not assumed in this problem. It is comfortable to handle the centrifugal force loading by relating it to a body force...

    Abstract
This study introduces two new, simple, and scalable methods for synthesis of “cysteine–graphene oxide” hybrid, namely nucleophilic and covalent methods. Produced adsorbents could uptake 500 and 600 mg Hg2+/g, respectively, which are larger than capacities of most of the commercial adsorbents. By means of different instrumental techniques, chemical structures of the obtained graphene products were disclosed, and two pertinent mechanisms for their formations were suggested. Time for attaining uptake equilibrium for nucleophilic/covalent samples was 30 min/150 min, and kinetics was controlled by liquid film resistance/chemical reaction mechanisms, respectively. High selectivity and good...

    Abstract
The aim of this study is to employ feedback control loops to provide a stable forward dynamics simulation of human movement under repeated position constraint conditions in the environment, particularly during stair climbing. A ten-degrees-of-freedom skeletal model containing 18 Hill-type musculotendon actuators per leg was employed to simulate the model in the sagittal plane. The postural tracking and obstacle avoidance were provided by the proportional—integral—derivative controller according to the modulation of the time rate change of the joint kinematics. The stability of the model was maintained by controlling the velocity of the body's centre of mass according to the desired centre of...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Razavi Zadehgan, Ali Akbar (Author) ; Ghafari, Ali (Supervisor) ; Meghdari, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The main goal of this thesis is the design and development of a rehabilitation device for helping patients “to improve blood circulation” & retain and recover their abilities if possible that were lost during the stroke or a accident like that (my research in karaj/iran shows that it is possible by just movement of the specific body part). The focus is on hand in this thesis because Injuries to the hand are common and can be very debilitating since our hands are our primary means for interacting with our world. For rehabilitation in case of human hand there are several practices that should be done for patients either in home or in a rehabilitation center, time and money that is supposed to...
