Dynamic Spectrum Sharing in Wireless Mesh Networks for Throughput Enhancement

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Darchini Maragheh, Kamaloddin (Author) ; Ashtiani, Farid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Having special advantages over existing networks, mesh networks have attracted much attention. Proposing new MAC protocols which are in compliance with these networks is an interesting field in which many works have been done. Also, Task Group S of the IEEE802.11 is going to release a standard for the mesh networks. Analysis of a simplified version of IEEE802.11s is the first goal of this thesis. The standard is a spectrum sharing algorithm based on scheduling and contention. Although IEEE802.11e manages the contention for accessing the wireless medium in the standard, but for the sake of simplicity, in this thesis we used SlottedALOHA instead. Also, one gateway and six other nodes are...

Optimal Interaction between Shareholders and Employees on Issuing Employee Stock Options within a Stackelberg Game Framework

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Yousefi Maragheh, Reza (Author) ; Modarres Yazdi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This paper investigates the interaction between the beneficiaries of an employee stock option plan within a Stackelberg game framework. The beneficiaries are shareholders and employees. In the proposed model, shareholders, as the leaders of the Stackelberg game, determine the optimal features of employee stock option grants. In response, employees, the followers of the proposed Stackelberg game, maximize their own profits by determining their own effort level by considering that every effort level of employees has an associated cost and expected income for employees. It is assumed that the stock price follow Geometric Brownian Motion process with a known drift rate and volatility. Also, it...

Methanol electrooxidation on a nickel electrode modified by nickel-dimethylglyoxime complex formed by electrochemical synthesis

    , Article Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry ; Volume 588, Issue 1 , 2006 , Pages 155-160 ; 15726657 (ISSN) Nozad Golikand, A ; Asgari, M ; Ghannadi Maragheh, M ; Shahrokhian, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier  2006
    Abstract
Nickel-dimethylglyoxime complex (NiDMG) modified nickel electrode (Ni/NiDMG) showed a catalytic activity towards methanol oxidation in NaOH solution. The modified electrode prepared by the dimethylglyoxime anodic deposition on Ni electrode in the solution containing 0.20 mol L-1 NH4Cl + NH4OH (pH 9.50) and 1.0 × 10-4 mol L-1 dimethylglyoxime. The modified electrode conditioned by potential recycling in a potential range of 100-700 mV (vs. SCE) by cyclic voltammetry in alkaline medium (0.10 M NaOH). The results show that the NiODMG film on the electrode behaves as an efficient catalyst for the electrooxidation of methanol in alkaline medium via Ni(III) species formed on the electrode with the...

Fractional factorial design for the optimization of hydrothermal synthesis of lanthanum oxide nanoparticles under supercritical water condition

    , Article Journal of Supercritical Fluids ; Volume 52, Issue 3 , 2010 , Pages 292-297 ; 08968446 (ISSN) Jafari Nejad, Sh ; Abolghasemi, H ; Moosavian, M. A ; Golzary, A ; Ghannadi Maragheh, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this research, synthesis of lanthanum oxide nanoparticles using supercritical water as a reaction medium in batch type reactor was studied. The crystallographic identity and morphology of the synthesized nanoparticles were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The XRD patterns indicate that the well-crystallized lanthanum oxide nanocrystals can be easily obtained under the current synthetic conditions. The effect of four parameters includes temperature, reaction time; primary concentration of aqueous solution of lanthanum (III) nitrate and pH of starting solution on reaction efficiency, particle size and the BET surface area were investigated...

An overview of sustainable energy development by using cogeneration technology and opportunity for improving process

    , Article International Journal of Energy Research ; 2020 Salehi, A. A ; Ghannadi Maragheh, M ; Torab Mostaedi, M ; Torkaman, R ; Asadollahzadeh, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Nowadays, energy supply is one of the most prominent demands of countries in the world. The enhancement in energy efficiency, flexibility for applications in various industrial processes, and the reduction in the environmental impacts of pollutant emissions can be accomplished by using sustainable energy sources. Alternative procedures for heat and electricity production have been developed in the commercial and industrial sectors and focusing on the cogeneration systems, and the contribution of nuclear energy has been increased for improving processes. Nuclear reactors play an essential role in nonelectric applications, and combined heat and energy at different operating temperatures can be...

    Abstract
Water is the most abundant liquid on Earth, but only 2.5% of worldwide water are fresh. It is impossible to ignore the importance of water in almost every process on Earth, from the smallest bacteria life to the formation of the continents. Today, efforts for the desalination of seawater and brackish water are critical to produce drinking water. In recent years, a novel material: hydrogel, was considered in desalination processes. Interesting hydrogel applications were proposed for forward osmosis desalination, solar still, electrodialysis, and capacitive desalination. Simple and inexpensive desalination ways for drinking water production are needed. Hydrogel compounds are one of the leading...

A review on the water-energy nexus for drinking water production from humid air

    , Article Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews ; Volume 120 , 2020 Salehi, A. A ; Ghannadi Maragheh, M ; Torab Mostaedi, M ; Torkaman, R ; Asadollahzadeh, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The Supply of sustainable freshwater has turned into a fundamental problem in numerous countries. The increment in population, the industrialization of the world, and variation in global warming temperatures lead to an increase in droughts, storms, and floods around the world. Therefore, the problems of water scarcity appear worldwide. Contrary to popular belief, the largest reserves of water are available in the air. Accordingly, several technologies have been developed for the production of drinking water from humid air in the research works. But, the critical problem is the high energy consumption in this equipment. Therefore, the issues of water-energy nexus are the particular subject in...

    Abstract
Electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol on a nickel disc electrode coated with nickel dimethyglyoxime complex (NiDMG), conditioned by potential recycling in a potential range of 100-700 mV (versus SCE) is studied by cyclic voltammetry in alkaline medium (0.10 M NaOH). The results show that the NiODMG layer formed at the surface of electrode behaves as an efficient electrocatalyst for the oxidation of methanol in alkaline medium via Ni(III) species with the cross exchange reaction occurring through out the layer at a low concentration of methanol. A plausible mechanism was proposed for catalytic oxidation of methanol at this modified electrode. Moreover, the effects of various parameters such...
