Abstract
Nowadays, deliberate or unwanted fire incidents have created much attention to the behavior of structures against these types of events. Since the properties of structural members are influenced by the increase in the temperature of the members, it is more difficult to predict the general and local behavior of the structures during the fire. In this research, a method has been proposed to calculate the critical temperature in two-dimensional structures at its collapse with desirable accuracy. In this process, the upper-bound theory of plastic analysis is used. The plastic analysis is performed by applying the initial fire scenario to the structure, and its collapse load factor with the...

Abstract
By increasing the penetration level of the combined heat and power systems and demand response programs between energy consumers in the distribution network, the interaction between electricity and the natural gas network becomes more complicated. This paper proposes a peer-to-peer (P2P) energy sharing scheme for energy trading among Smart Energy Hubs (S.E. Hubs) which can trade both electrical and thermal energy with each other to reduce their cost and, reduce their dependency to gas and electricity utility companies. A two-stage energy strategy is presented. In the first stage, the S.E. Hubs total social cost is reduced by finding the optimal energy sharing profiles. And, in the second...

Abstract
Many important public buildings have suffered significant damages due to terrorist attacks in the last few decades. This paper investigates the behavior of structures with steel plate shear wall lateral load resisting system under various blast loadings. A number of twenty steel frames with different heights and widths subjected to four different blast scenarios are modeled and analyzed in opensees software. The results showed that structures with steel plate shear wall systems subjected to blast loading have better behavior in high-rise structures than in low-rise structures in terms of drift and ductility ratio. The steel plate shear wall system exhibited shear-dominated,...

Abstract
Selling correlated products faces the sellers with the cross-selling, which is a key factor in managing revenue and costs of the sellers. Cross-selling is a phenomenon which happens when the demands of products are correlated so that the demand for one of the correlated products automatically initiates demand of another. In these cases, different selling tactics such as bundling, tying, mixed bundling, etc. are applied to sell the items. In this paper, an integrated pricing-inventory model for two complementary products under three selling strategies is developed. In the first model, it is assumed that the seller sells the products separately while those are packed and sold as bundling in...

Abstract
Platinum nanowires (PtNWs) were electrodeposited on the polycarbonate templates (PCTs) in aqueous solution of H2PtCl6 in triply distilled water. Nanowires with diameters of 50 and 100 nanometers were electrodeposited on the same condition. The kinetics of electrodeposition process was studied by electrochemical techniques such as voltammetry and chronoamperometry methods. Increasing the scan rate, the peaks shifted to more negative potentials and the current density also increased in each peak which was typical for a diffusion-control process. The potential range for the deposition of platinum nanowires was specified and consequently the potentiostatic i-t transients were utilized to produce...
Truss Section, Topology and Shape Optimization Considering Uncertainties
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kazemi, Mohammad Taghi (Supervisor)
Abstract
Optimization and uncertainty are two main issues in the structure design. In engineering problems and specially the structure, loads are among those issues witch we cannot be commented definitively. The uncertainty also shows itself in material properties and structural shapes. Design optimization is inevitable in order to use resources effectively. In the past, structural design was based on experience and engineering judgment, which was conservative and sometimes structure weight was very high. But today, thanks to computers, high-volume calculations would not be out of reach. With considering uncertainty, we can have prosper sight toward constraints by maintaining proper distance from...

Abstract
Optimization of a structure refers to a design procedure that results in the most economical structure in terms of materials and sizing of sections. In structures with steel plate shear walls, finding the best layout of the walls in a frame is also of priority in designing a structure with the minimum weight. Finding the least weight of a structure while all design provisions according to codes and standards are satisfied is a challenging task that is hard to perform with the existing design methods. Metaheuristic optimization algorithms are robust computational tools used for solving complex problems, which are used widely in many engineering fields, especially structural engineering. This...

Abstract
With deployment of distributed generation such as photovoltaic (PV) and active prosumers along with demand response (DR) ability, new fields are being created for energy markets and they are moving towards a consumer-centric way. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) network is one of the top research focuses which many studies have been conducted recently. The P2P network is based on multi bilateral agreements between Prosumers that help each other to manage and balance the supply and demand of energy between each other. In this thesis, two important structures of P2P network, which are called community-based and fully-decentrilized, respectively based on MILP (mixed integer linear programing) and ADMM...

Abstract
A variational theory (VT), in which the potential energy of a real system is evaluated relative to the hard-sphere system, was used to investigate the medium's effects on the pair potential parameters. By adding the medium's effects to the isolated pair potential, the concept of an 'effective pair potential' (EPP) was introduced. The EPP parameters were compared with those of the average effective pair potential (AEPP) for Ar, which showed the importance of the medium effects and the long range interactions of the AEPP in dense fluids. The study showed that the depth parameter of the AEPP is much larger than that of the EPP

Abstract
Inclusion of nano-clays into hydrogels is an efficient approach to produce nanocomposite hydrogels. The introduction of nano-clay into hydrogels causes an increase in water absorbency. In the present work, Nanocomposite hydro-gels based on kappa-carrageenan were synthesized using sodium montmorillonite as nano-clay. Acrylamide and meth-ylenebisacrylamide were used as monomer and crosslinker, respectively. The structure of nanocomposite hydrogels was investigated by XRD and SEM techniques. Swelling behavior of nanocomposite hydrogels was studied by varying clay and carrageenan contents as well as methylenebisacrylamide concentration. An optimum swelling capacity was achieved at 12% of sodium...

Abstract
In the present work, specimens were cut out from St-37 plates with 19 mm thickness. The thickness of plates was reduced to 12.5 mm by milling and grinding operations. Then a standard V-shaped fillet was made on one edge of the plates. Two plates were butt-welded by standard metal arc gas (MAG) welding process. Residual stresses induced by welding were measured on 20 specimens by centre hole drilling. Load controlled axial fatigue tests were carried out to determine the fatigue life of specimens. Crack growth rates were obtained from experiment. Fractography of specimens was performed. Genetic Algorithm (GA) was employed for prediction of residual stress value in weldments using the crack...
Probabilistic analysis of welding residual stress on fatigue crack growth

Abstract
The qualitative effects of residual stress parameters on fatigue crack growth are investigated using Monte Carlo probabilistic analysis technique. These parameters include the maximum residual stress,σ0, half-width of the tensile residual stress region, b, and the redistribution of residual stress parameter, β. A normal distribution is assumed for all parameters considered in the investigation and fatigue life is determined using Forman equation. The results indicate that: (i) fatigue life decreases nonlinearly if the mean of random maximum residual stress and the half-width of tensile residual stress region increases; (ii) fatigue life increases nonlinearly if the rate of residual stress...
