    Abstract
    An experimental study of a lab scale rotating detonation combustor (RDC) has been conducted to identify and classify its modes of operation under different feeding conditions. The chamber uses air as oxidizer and hydrogen as fuel. The stability diagram of the RDC has been determined based on the detonation chamber Reynolds number and reactants mixture equivalence ratio values. The Reynolds number is based on the air volume flow rate, chamber annulus size, and the reactants mixture feeding slot area. Hence the effects of geometrical parameters and operational parameters on the detonation wave stability can be presented in a single stability map. This diagram identifies different zones in...

    The method of multiple scales is one of the common perturbation techniques for exploring nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Sitnikov has presented a mathematics model of a negligible mass body oscillation perpendicular to a plane in which two heavy bodies with equal mass orbit on itself Keplerian ellipse.     This paper concerns the design of a neural state observer for nonlinear dynamic systems with noisy measurement channels and in the presence of small model errors. The proposed observer consists of three feedforward neural parts, two of which are MLP universal approximators, which are being trained off-line and the last one being a Linearly Parameterized Neural Network (LPNN), which is being updated on-line. The off-line trained parts are able to generate state estimations instantly and almost accurately, if there are not catastrophic errors in the mathematical model used.     A newly-designed surfactant was formulated to tolerate the harsh conditions of oil reservoirs, including high salinity of the formation brine and temperature. The specific emulsion and interfacial tension (IFT) behavior of this new surface active agent were investigated by performing emulsion stability tests, emulsion size analysis, and IFT behavior in the presence of four different types of alkalis.     Subsonic wind tunnel experiments were conducted to study the effect of tripped boundary layer on the pressure distribution in the contraction region of the tunnel. Measurements were performed by installing trip strip at two different positions in the concave portion of the contraction. The results show that installation of the trip strips, have significant effects on both turbulence and pressure distribution.     A Not-All-Equal decomposition of a graph G is a decomposition of the vertices of G into two parts such that each vertex in G has at least one neighbor in each part. Also, a 1-in-Degree decomposition of a graph G is a decomposition of the vertices of G into two parts A and B such that each vertex in the graph G has exactly one neighbor in part A. Among our results, we show that for a given graph G, if G does not have any cycle of length congruent to 2 mod 4, then there is a polynomial time algorithm to decide whether G has a 1-in-Degree decomposition.     A proper vertex k-coloring of a graph G is called dynamic, if there is no vertex v∈V(G) with d(v)<2 and all of its neighbors have the same color. The smallest integer k such that G has a k-dynamic coloring is called the dynamic chromatic number of G and denoted by χ2(G). We say that v∈V(G) in a proper vertex coloring of G is a bad vertex if d(v)<2 and only one color appears in the neighbors of v. In this paper, we show that if G is a graph with the chromatic number at least 6, then there exists a proper vertex χ(G)-coloring of G such that the set of bad vertices of G is an independent set.
