, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Dehghan Niry, Mohammad (Author) ; Rahimi Tabar, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, some aspects of the Burges and Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equations will be studied. At first we introduce Turbulence and describe historical view of Burgers and KPZ equations. Then in second section we study analytically the time issue of Burgers equation in 1+1-dimenssion. Then by using recently developed precise numerical methods by J. Bec and U. Frisch, we check result of previous section numerically. Our numerical simulation of the Burgers equation stirred by a kicking force support our analytical results. In small time scale our result show dynamical exponent of structure function z is one. This is the essence of the assumption first made by Sir G. I. Taylor in his 1938...

Nonlinear Response of Shear-Flexural MDOF Structures Subjected to Seismic Excitations

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Dehghan, Navid (Author) ; Ghannad, Mohammad Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A generic single-span frame has been used to represent a shear-flexural building and the degree of participation of overall shear and flexural behavior in mode shapes, is controlled by dimensionless parameters of α, δk and δp. By evaluation of modal analysis results, one may conclude the extent to which each parameter affects the dominancy of shear/flexural behavior. By understanding the relation between the abovementioned parameters and proportion of shear/flexural behavior of structures, effects of these parameters and consequently trend of modal shapes on the nonlinear analyses results would be investigated. According to nonlinear analyses results of the flexural structures, ductility...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Dehghan Suraki, Danial (Author) ; Salehi, Mohammad Mahdi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, the performance of the Moss-Brooks semi-empirical model in estimating soot for six different diffusion flames with methane, ethylene, and kerosene fuels in laminar and turbulent regimes has been investigated. The results show that the model with the default constants in the laminar ethylene flame has relatively acceptable performance, but in the turbulent ethylene flame as well as the laminar and turbulent flames of methane, has a significant error. In this regard, inspired by past research and performing sensitivity analysis, the constants of oxidation and coagulation sub-models were reviewed and Improved. The results of soot volume fraction were evaluated for values of 0.015...

A Method for Turbulence Reduction in Subsonic Wind Tunnels

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Dehghan Manshadi, Mojtaba (Author) ; Soltani, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Ghorbanian, Kaveh (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The impact of a method on the turbulence reduction in wind tunnels was evaluated. In this method, by installation of trip strip in the contraction, the unsteady behaviors of flow have controlled, consequently the turbulence intensity and possibility of separations were decreased. Location and diameter of trips were very important in this method. Various sizes of trip strip were installed at different locations in the contraction section of four different wind tunnels to study the most significant aspects of the method. Hot wire anemometry system, 1-D and 2-D probes, were used for turbulence measurement and a new method for direct calibration of a 2-D hot-wire probe was introduced. The new...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Dehghan Monfared, Abolfazl (Author) ; Ghazanfari, Mohammad Hosseini (Supervisor) ; Jamialahmadi, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Helalizadeh, Abbas (Supervisor) ; Kazemeini, Mohammad ($item.subfieldsMap.e)
    Abstract
In recent years, application of silica nanoparticles for wettability alteration of reservoir rocks as an effective approach in enhancing oil recovery from petroleum reservoirs is introduced. However, in this area, lack of fundamental studies to provide a clear understanding about the interaction between these nanoparticles and carbonate rocks (as the predominant reservoir rocks in the world and Iran), which is of particular importance, is sensed. Therefore, the main purpose of this dissertation is to present a mechanistic investigation about the interaction of silica nanoparticles (the most used nanoparticles) with carbonate rock from theoretical and experimental viewpoints. To better...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nikparto, Ali (Author) ; Dehghan Firoozabadi, Bahar (Supervisor) ; Saidi, Mohammad Said (Supervisor)
    Abstract
It is known today that arterial diseases are among the leading cause of death in modern societies. More than 50% of deaths in western countries are mainly occurred as results of these diseases, namely atherosclerosis. In order to study risk factors and to understand the full process of how arterial diseases initiate and progress, many research topics have been introduced and studied. Researchers believe that mechanical factors such as Wall Shear Stress (WSS), Pressure distribution, Cyclic strain, Back flow zones and many other factors are responsible for initiation of atherosclerosis. Different patterns of Wall Shear Stress and Strain are seen in arteries. Among other factors outlined in...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Joulaei, Mohammad Moin (Author) ; Dehghan Firouzabadi, Rouhollah (Supervisor) ; Haddadpour, Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Purpose of this thesis is to discover the governing equation of Flying Wing aircrafts. In Flying Wing aircrafts crew, payload, fuel, and equipment are typically housed inside the main wing structure. A clean flying wing is sometimes presented as theoretically the most aerodynamically efficient (lowest drag) design configuration for a fixed wing aircraft. We assume Flying wing as plate. Achieve structural formulation needs to use modal deflections and put them in Lagrangian equations. In the right had side, pressure on flying wing can be found. To obtain air pressure on flying wing in this thesis, applying Quasi steady aerodynamic and Howe distribution is necessary. Applying this method on ...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Abdollahi Dehkordi, Rahim (Author) ; Dehghan Firouzabadi, Rohollah (Supervisor) ; Rahmanian, Mohammad (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, stability as well as linear and nonlinear vibrations of coaxial rotating cylindrical shells conveying annular incompressible fluid medium are investigated. To this aim the inner isotropic and elastic rotating cylindrical shell along with the rigid and stationary outer cylinder are considered. Equations of motion for the inner cylinder are determined according to the Hamilton’s principle and using the Sanders-Koiter theory assumptions. In order to generalize the boundary condition implementation, some translational and rotational springs are attached to the boundaries at the mid-plane. The final system of equations are solved by means of the extended Galerkin method – being an...

    , Article Discrete Applied Mathematics ; Volume 160, Issue 15 , 2012 , Pages 2142-2146 ; 0166218X (ISSN) Dehghan, A ; Ahadi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier  2012
    Abstract
A 2-hued coloring of a graph G is a coloring such that, for every vertex v∈V(G) of degree at least 2, the neighbors of v receive at least two colors. The smallest integer k such that G has a 2-hued coloring with k colors is called the 2-hued chromatic number of G, and is denoted by χ2(G). In this paper, we will show that, if G is a regular graph, then χ2(G)-χ(G)≤2log 2(α(G))+3, and, if G is a graph and δ(G)<2, then χ2(G)-χ(G)≤1+4 Δ2δ-1⌉(1+log 2Δ(G)2Δ(G)-δ(G)(α(G))), and in the general case, if G is a graph, then χ2(G)-χ(G)≤2+min α′(G),α(G)+ω(G)2

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Dehghan, Mahdie (Author) ; Beigy, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Concept drift is a challenging problem in the context of data stream processing. As a result of increasing applications of data streams, including network intrusion detection, weather forecasting, and detection of unconventional behavior in financial transactions; numerous studies have been conducted in the field of concept drift detection. In order to solve the problem of concept drift detection, an ideal method should be able to quickly and correctly identify a variety of changes, adapt quickly to new concepts, in the presence of limitations of memory and processing power. In this thesis, a new explicit concept drift detection method based on ensemble classifiers has been proposed for data...

Some Results and Conjectures on Bounds for Graph Colorings

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Dehghan, Ali (Author) ; Mahmoodian, Ebadollah (Supervisor)
    Abstract
There are many ways to color the vertices and edges of graphs, such as, rainbow connection, vertex coloring and dynamic coloring. In this thesis, in Chapter 1 we introduce a new coloring, we consider its relationship with some other colorings and we investigate its computational complexity. In chapter 1, we focus on the proper orientation number. The problem of orienting the edges of a given simple graph so that the maximum indegree of vertices is minimized was introduced in 2004. We show that there is a polynomial time algorithm for determining the proper orientation number of a given 3-regular graph. But it is NP-complete to decide if the proper orientation number of a 4-regular graph is 3...

Studying the Dependence Structure of Tehran Stock Exchange and Over-the-Counter Market by Using Constant and Time-Varying Conditional Copula Functions

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Dehghan, Arman (Author) ; Zamani, Shiva (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this thesis, we study the dependence structure between the Tehran Stock Exchange and over-the-counter market, as the two main Iranian capital market institutions. Several constant and time-varying conditional Copula functions are used to model this dependence structure from October 2009 to August 2014. It is shown that, compared to constant conditional copulas, time-varying conditional copulas, provide a better performance. Analyzing the conditional tail dependence of these indices shows an asymmetric dependence structure. Also, investigating the dynamic conditional correlation and conditional tail dependence, using time-varying conditional copulas, reveals large variations and an...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Dehghan, Parisa (Author) ; Arjmand, Navid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Objective: To assess adequacy of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Lifting Equation (NLE) in controlling lumbar spine loads below their recommended action limits during load-handling activities in the stoop and squat using a detailed musculoskeletal model, that is, the AnyBody Modeling System. Background: The NIOSH committee employed simplistic biomechanical models for the calculation of the spine compressive loads with no estimates of the shear loads. In addition, NLE does not include the posture of the knee during manual material handling. It is therefore unknown whether the NLE would adequately control lumbar compression and shear loads below their...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Dehghan, Ali (Author) ; Akbarzadeh, Abbas (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Magnesium and its alloys have gained significant attention in medical applications due to their good biocompatibility. However, their widespread use has been limited by some inherent drawbacks, such as poor mechanical properties. The ZX00 magnesium alloy has been used in medical applications, including implants, due to its slow degradation rate and good ossification. However, this alloy lacks sufficient strength and ductility. The severe plastic deformation method can create an ultrafine grain structure and improve mechanical properties. In this study, to improve the mechanical properties and create an ultrafine grain structure, the multi-directional forging process was performed on...

    Abstract
We have used the dynamic method to calculate the frequency dependence of the localization length in a disordered medium, using the amplitude change and the redshift of the spectral density of the propagating incident pulse. The frequency dependence of the localization length in an effectively one-dimensional disordered medium is computed in terms of the strength of the disorder. The results obtained with the dynamic method are confirmed by computing the same results using the transfer-matrix method
