To increase heat transfer, ferrofluids have been utilized to study the effective parameters of pool boiling. Changes and possible enhancement of pool boiling heat transfer of magnetic fluids is a function of magnetic field and concentration of nanoparticles. Abstract
In this paper, we have studied the properties of SrTiO3 thin films which have been deposited on Si/Ti/Pt substrates using pulsed laser deposition technique. The as-deposited films were annealed at temperature of 700 °C in oxygen environment for 1 h. The surface morphology, crystalline phase and chemical composition of the films were characterized by AFM, XRD and XPS techniques, respectively. The XRD data show that phase transition from amorphous to polycrystalline structure happens and also the lattice constant enhances during annealing process. Abstract
A rotating closed loop pulsating heat pipe (RCLPHP) was experimentally investigated as a passive heat sink for rotary equipment cooling. The effects of heat input, rotational speed, filling ratio, and working fluid on the thermal resistance of RCLPHP were studied. Pure water and ethanol were used as working fluids with filling ratios of 30%, 50%, and 70% by volume, and the RCLPHP was tested at four rotational speeds: 200, 400, 600, and 800 rpm. The results showed that the best filling ratio for both water and ethanol is 50% and proved that the RCLPHP is able to work efficiently in a wide range of rotational speed. The pool boiling is one of the heat transfer mechanisms used in cooling systems. Using an external force to improve the efficiency of thermo-fluid systems is among the most effective approaches, and also highly applicable in enhancing heat transfer. In this study, the pool boiling of water, as the working fluid, in the presence of a variable magnetic field, is studied. A desired circulatory flow in flat-plate pulsating heat-pipes may improve electronic thermal management. This desired flow can be achieved by fabricating connecting channels (CCs) to increase flow resistance in one direction. In addition, connecting channels may increase the freedom degree of fluid. In order to investigate the effect of CC, two aluminum flat plate thermal spreaders with overall size 320mm×220mm×5mm - one with CC (CC-FPHP) and one without it- were fabricated. Abstract
The boiling phenomena in a quiescent fluid is the nucleate pool boiling which has attracted much interest in the thermal management studies. This paper investigates the effect of the installed Twisted Tape Fins (TTFs) on the heat transfer from a surface with a temperature above the water saturation point to a coil condenser. Four different arrangements of TTFs (1, 3, 5, and 9 TTFs) are fabricated and their boiling performance in distilled water at atmospheric pressure is experimentally tested. Silica-supported boron trifluoride (BF3·SiO2) is an efficient, readily available and reusable catalyst for the synthesis of 1,2,4,5-tetrasubstituted imidazoles using benzil, an aromatic aldehyde and an amine in the presence of ammonium acetate. Magnetic convection heat transfer in a two-dimensional square cavity induced by magnetic field gradient is investigated numerically using a semi-implicit finite volume method. The side walls of the cavity are heated with different temperatures, the top and bottom walls are isolated, and a permanent magnet is located near the bottom wall. In this paper, we propose an efficient method for R-peak detection in noninvasive fetal electrocardiogram (ECG) signals which are acquired from multiple electrodes on mother's abdomen. The proposed method is performed in two steps: first, we employ a robust tensor decomposition-based method for fetal ECG extraction, assuming different heart rates for mother and fetal ECG; then a method based on extended Kalman filter (EKF) in which the ECG beat is modeled by 3 state equations (P, QRS and T), is used for fetal R-peak detection. Introduction: Temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) is the most common and drug resistant epilepsy in adults. Due to behavioral, morphologic and electrographic similarities, pilocarpine model of epilepsy best resembles TLE. In this paper, an analytical solution for steady creeping motion of viscoelastic drop falling through a viscous Newtonian fluid is presented. The Oldroyd-B model is used as the constitutive equation. The analytical solutions for both interior and exterior flows are obtained using the perturbation method. Deborah number and capillary numbers are considered as the perturbation parameters. In this paper, creeping motion of a viscoelastic drop falling through a Newtonian fluid is investigated experimentally and analytically. A polymeric solution of 0.08 % xanthan gum in 80:20 glycerol/water and silicon oil is implemented as the viscoelastic drop and the bulk viscous fluids, respectively. Abstract
In this paper we consider the content distribution to a set of mobile users interested in the same content. We use the concept of mobile clouds, which exploits cooperation between mobile terminals over the low-power short-range links. We propose, formulate and investigate the energy efficiency and delay of four realistic cooperative content delivery strategies. The derived results, through analysis of mathematical models and simulations, demonstrate around 65% to 95% energy saving gain in mobile cloud strategies compared to conventional multicasting. We also show that using mobile clouds, content distribution delay can be reduced for up to 85%

The proposed method is based on cell apoptosis according to halting activation of cancer cell membrane receptor by exposure to UV light pulses without any side effect. In the proposed method, gold nanoparticles are directed to cancerous cells by conjugating their surface with specific ligands.
