A new and efficient dimension reduction method is introduced in this paper. The proposed method, almost the same as the well-known principal component analysis (PCA) method, enjoys the properties of uncorrelatedness of resulting components and orthogonality of transform coefficients. Abstract
A new and general frameworkcalled modified polynomial regression (MPR)is introduced in this letter, which detects the changes that occurred in remote sensing images. It is an improvement of the conventional polynomial regression (CPR) method. Most change detection (CD) methods, including CPR, do not consider the spatial relations among image pixels. To improve CPR, our proposed framework incorporates the spatial information into the CD process by using linear spatial-oriented image operators. This paper introduces a new dimension reduction (DR) method, called minimum change rate deviation (MCRD), which is applicable to the DR of remote sensing images. As the main shortcoming of the well-known principal component analysis (PCA) method is that it does not consider the spatial relation among image points, our proposed approach takes into account the spatial relation among neighboring image pixels while preserving all useful properties of PCA. A new and efficient method for incorporating the spatiality into difference-based change detection (CD) algorithms is introduced in this paper. It uses the spatial derivatives of image pixels to extract spatial relations among them. Real-time prediction of traffic flow and vehicle composition in urban network is the main purpose of this research. A two-step model is presented as an alternative for costly methods of data collection. Abstract
By puncturing the Reed-Solomon codes with the block lengths of 2 m, it is possible to design systematic and nonsystematic codes with arbitrary block lengths and rates that can be decoded using FFT. Because the Reed-Solomon (RS) codes are maximum distance separable (MDS), the resultant codes keep this property as well. The codes are constructed over prime fields as opposed to the conventional practice of extension fields, and hence additions and multiplications are simple mod operations and there is no need to use polynomials and look-up tables. © IEE, 2005

Long Reed-Solomon codes over the prime field GF(216 + 1) are proposed as a low overhead channel code for reliable transmission of video over noisy and lossy channels. The added redundancy is near optimal from the information theoretic point of view contrary to the conventionally used intra-coding and sync (marker) insertion in video transmission that are not justified theoretically. A hybrid video codec, where the intraframe pictures are wavelet-based coded and the interframe pictures are coded with a standard H.263 codec is proposed. We show that intraframe-wavelet coded pictures not only improve the quality of I-pictures but also result in lower distorted prediction pictures that outperforms a pure H.263 video codec. © 2005 IEEE

The Wavelet based speech enhancement is considered. In this method, the noisy signal transfers to wavelet domain. Then with applying a thresholding algorithm, the wavelet coefficients will be improved. At last using the inverse wavelet transform the enhanced signal will be obtained. This paper presents a new speech enhancement system that works in wavelet domain. The core of system is an improved WaveShrink module. First, different parameters of WaveShrink are studied; then, based on the features of speech signal, an improved wavelet-based speech enhancement system is proposed. In this paper, new vector quantization (VQ) based techniques for reducing the effect of channel noise in image transmission are introduced. In one of the proposed methods, i.e., component VQ (CVQ), by transmitting the components of code-vectors (and not their indices), we will be able to reduce the effect of channel noise. To decrease the output rate of CVQ, a modification of CVQ called sub-index VQ (SIVQ) is introduced. This method has error-correcting capability as well. Abstract
Spectral subtraction is one of the most famous and common-used methods for speech enhancement. The main weakness of this method is the production of an annoying noise called musical noise. In this paper, we have reduced the musical noise and improved the quality of enhanced speech by increasing the accuracy of the system spectral estimator. This method is useful for speech enhancement systems in which the speech signal is degraded by stationary or near-stationary noises. Different experimental results in different SNRs confirmed the better performance of our system from both objective and subjective views, which means better quality and more SNR improvement. © 2005 IEEE
