Wind generation is one of the most successful sources of renewable energy for the production of electrical energy. The technical characteristics of wind generation make existing conventional generation models not directly applicable. This paper presents an analytical method for the reliability assessment of the flat-rated wind turbine generation systems. An example of flat rating is that of the MOD-2, a second-generation class of wind turbines. We study the optimal pricing strategy for profit maximization in presence of network externalities where a decision to buy a product depends on the price offered to the buyer and also on the set of her friends who have already bought that product. We model the network influences by a weighted graph where the utility of each buyer is the sum of her initial value on the product, and the linearly additive influence from her friends. Abstract
In this paper, the problem of routing, modulation level, core, and spectrum assignment (RMCSA) in space-division-multiplexed elastic optical networks (SDM-EONs) is studied. We formulate this problem as a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP), in which dedicated and shared path protection schemes are supported in SDM-EONs with multi-core fibers (MCFs) and the inter-core crosstalk of MCFs is strictly modeled. Furthermore, an efficient heuristic algorithm is proposed to solve the RMCSA problem in a large scale scenario. Electric power systems are typically operated at least cost, subject to technical and reliability constraints. This paper presents a probabilistic approach for optimal and reliable scheduling of a competitive electric power market. In the current study, hydrogen fluoride (HF) adsorption onto the sodium fluoride pellets is modeled. For this purpose a two-dimensional, non-isothermal model was developed and the governing equations were solved numerically. The contributions of diffusion transport in axial and radial directions also were considered in mathematical formulations. The model results of effluent concentration and breakthrough curves of HF were compared with the experimental data obtained in a lab-scale adsorption unit, reported in our previous work [1]. In uranium conversion industry, the fluorine is used as chemical raw material gas to produce UF4 and UF6 while its purity is very important. In this study, the adsorption process of hydrogen fluoride, as an impurity in the process of fluorine production, on sodium fluoride pellets is experimentally studied in a lab-scale fixed bed adsorbent. Also, the effects of some operating parameters including inlet concentration and inlet temperature of hydrogen fluoride are precisely investigated on the adsorption process. We present a novel method for deriving the governing equations of the musculoskeletal system, a new class of multibody systems in which the constituent components are connected together via anatomical joints which behave differently compared with traditional mechanical joints.
