    Ethylene Glycol Removal from Wastewater by Biological Means

    Abstract
    In this research, MBBR was used to study petrochemical and gas refinery industry's low strength wastewater COD removal for reuse purposes. Reactor's feed was synthesized based on data analysis conducted by fourth wastewater treatment facility operating in phases 6,7 and 8. Inlet COD was 70 mg/L and this COD was provided by different portions of Mono ethylene glycol and Tri ethylene glycol. COD removal was studied under 1, 2 and 3 hours hydraulic retention time. Reactor's feed was provided with COD ratio of ( 〖COD〗_MEG/〖COD〗_total ) 65%, 60% and 50%.     Repair welding is one of the most prevalent processes in repair and maintenance part of all industries. Amongst the issues of welding processes are residual stresses and distortions. Thus prediction of residual stresses and their distribution are important for designing welding procedure specifications. Circumferential butt weld is often used for joining steam and hot water lines in plants. Due to the intense concentration of heat in the welding, the regions near the weld line undergo severe thermal cycles.     The purpose of the present study is to develope an optimal model for analysis the impact of implementing a heat recovery system in a cement production line. For this goal, the energy reference system of a cement plant has been prepared, mass and energy balance sheets of the cement factory with dry production method, the characteristics of two high-energy streams have been identified in order to estimate the potential of heat recovery.     Abstract
    Our main focus in this thesis is on optimal control methods for the analysis of deep neural networks, such as the supervised learning problem. A neural network with a large number of layers can be modeled with an ordinary differential equation, whose control parameters play the role of intermediary functions in the neural network. This model gives us a more powerful tool to analyze the asymptotic behavior of the neural network. Also, in this thesis, the problems of numerical implementation of these methods will be discussed

    Abstract
    In this work, the production and properties of Al 6061/SiC composites, made using a squeeze casting method, were investigated. SiC preforms were manufactured by mixing SiC powder, having a 16 and 22 pm particle size, with colloidal silica as a binder. 6061 Al melt was squeeze cast into the pores of the SiC preform to manufacture a DRA composite containing 30v/o reinforcement. The aging behavior, tensile properties and fracture mechanism of the cast material were studied. The results show that higher hardness, yield strength, tensile strength and Young's modulus can be obtained by the addition of SiC particles to 6061 Al alloy, whereas tensile elongation decreases.     Let G be a graph of order n. For every v ∈ V (G), let EG(v) denote the set of all edges incident with v. A signed k-matching of G is a function f : E(G) −→ {−1, 1}, satisfying f(EG(v)) ≤ 1 for at least k vertices, where f(S) = ∑e∈S f(e), for each S ⊆ E(G). The maximum of the values of f(E(G)), taken over all signed k-matchings f of G, is called the signed k-matching number and is denoted by βk S (G). In this paper, we prove that for every graph G of order n and for any positive integer k ≤ n, βk S (G) ≥ n −k −ω(G), where w(G) is the number of components of G.     In this paper, the problem of routing, modulation level, core, and spectrum assignment (RMCSA) in space-division-multiplexed elastic optical networks (SDM-EONs) is studied. We formulate this problem as a mixed-integer linear programming (MILP), in which dedicated and shared path protection schemes are supported in SDM-EONs with multi-core fibers (MCFs) and the inter-core crosstalk of MCFs is strictly modeled. Furthermore, an efficient heuristic algorithm is proposed to solve the RMCSA problem in a large scale scenario.     Membrane bioreactors (MBRs) which are commonly understood as the combination of membrane filtration and biological treatment using activated sludge have several advantages, but membrane fouling reduces the membrane efficiency, permeability and lifetime. An alternative is replacing a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) with the activated sludge system which may reduce the effect of membrane fouling.
