    Statistical-Empirical Modeling of Millimeter Wave Propagation (at 60 GHz) for Wireless Communications

    Due to the short wavelengths in millimeter waves and the specific characteristics of wave propagation in this frequency band, the methods used for modeling channel response in lower frequency bands are not applicable without appropriate modifications. Considering the fact that many obstacles in the channel have sizes comparable to the wavelength (eg branches and tree leaves, brick spacing and roughness height of many surfaces), statistical-empirical methods can be an efficient way of modeling propagation in the presence of such components.

    Synthesis & Properties of Nd-doped Glass-ceramics in the SiO2-CaO-MgO System from Sol-gel Method Used as Solid Lasers

    In this study, SiO2-CaO-MgO galsses and glass-ceramic powder doped with Nd3+ were synthesized with sol-gel method. Tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS), Ca(NO3)2.4H2O, Mg(NO3)2.6H2O, Nd(NO3)3.6H2O, ethanol, distilled water, and HNO3 were used as starting materials. The synthesized powder’s properties were examined with STA, XRD, DRS, PL, FTIR and SEM analysis. From XRD patterns of glass samples, the role of dopant was introduced as intermediate oxide in glass matrix. The XRD patterns of glass-ceramic samples indicated that the bredigite and akermanite crystals were formed in glass matrix.     In this paper, an effort has been made to model the 60 GHz wireless channel using a precise yet fast and simple method for short outdoor links that are a possible area for the use of 60 GHz wireless connectivity for high data rate services with dense frequency reuse.     Abstract
    The geometries of the complexes of Be 2+, Mg 2+, and Ca 2+ metal cations with borazine ring were studied. The complexes were optimized at the B3LYP level and the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. Then, the interaction energies corrected by basis set super position error were calculated in the same level. The results show that interaction energy is strongly dependent on the charge-to-size ratio of the cation. Therefore, Be 2+ cation has the most interaction energy value with respect to Mg 2+ and Ca 2+ metal cations.     Abstract
    The nature of alumazine⋯M (M = Li+, Na+, K+, Be2+, Mg2+, AND Ca2+) interactions was studied by ab initio calculations. The interaction energies were calculated at MP2/6-311++G(d,p)//B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level. The calculations suggest that the size and charge of cation are two important factors that affect the interaction energy, charge transfer values and the variation in aromaticity of alumazine ring upon complexation. The theory of atoms in molecules (AIM) and natural bond orbital (NBO) analyses of complexes indicate that the variation of densities and the extent of charge shifts upon complexation correlate well with the obtained interaction energies. The contribution of both raft and piles to carry the surcharge loads is taken into account, considering the stiffness and strength of involved elements in the system, i.e. piles, raft and surrounding soil.     In this paper a directive mesh network operating in the 60 GHz unlicensed band is considered for backhaul support for a small cell mobile network in an urban environment and interference between network links is analyzed. It is observed that while non-line-of-sight stations are adequately isolated by antenna directivity, interference can affect link performance in links that fall in line with each other, namely, line-of-sight links.     It is shown that negative capacitance (NC) circuits can be systematically used to improve the gain-bandwidth product of the operational amplifiers (opamps). The NC circuit moves the nondominant pole of the opamp to higher frequency by decreasing the parasitic capacitance of the critical node. The impedance at the input of the NC circuits is neither purely capacitive nor negative at all frequencies.     The required linearity of wideband receivers for applications, such as software-defined radio in the absence of input surface-acoustic wave (SAW) filters, is studied. It is shown that the required linearity of wideband SAW-less receivers is surprisingly higher than what has been commonly assumed. For these receivers, although the out-of-band blockers can reduce the compression point of the receiver, they can also potentially generate interferers that appear in the desired frequency band, resulting in higher noise floor and signal corruption.     A novel, magnetic nanocarrier was successfully synthesized through a facile and economical producer in which Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were coated by starch-g-poly (methyl methacrylate-co-PEG-acrylamide). The surface of nanocarrier was then modified by hydrazine to preparation of a pH-responsive carrier. The resulted nanocarrier was applied for delivery of doxorubicin (DOX) as an effective anti-cancer drug. DOX was reacted with hydrazine linkage on the surface of nanocarrier to form hydrazone bond.     Anchoring of copper sulfate in layered poly(imidazole-imidazolium) coated magnetic nanoparticles provided a highly stable, active, reusable, high loading, and green catalyst for the click synthesis of 1,2,3-triazoles via a one-pot cycloaddition of alkyl halide, azide, and alkyne (Cu-A3C). The catalyst was characterized by FTIR, TGA, TEM, SEM, XRD, EDAX, VSM and AAS. High selectivity, broad diversity of alkyl/benzyl bromide/chloride and alkyl/aryl terminal alkynes, and good to excellent yields of products were obtained using 0.7 mol% catalyst.
