Direct Path Cancellation in Satellite Signal Based Forward Scattering Radar
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Behroozi, Hamid (Supervisor)
Abstract
Passive bistatic radars (PBR) using transmitters of opportunity have attracted a lot of attention recently. Advantages of these radars include the covert operation as well as the low cost of their building and maintenance. Such radars are intended to use signals in the environment as transmitters. These transmitters can be terrestrial transmitters such as TV broadcasts or even satellite transmitters such as global positioning system (GPS) satellites.Satellite transmitters have global coverage and their signal is available at all times, but the design of these transmitters for non-radar applications causes the reduction of the reception power at receivers. So BR systems have attempted to use...

Abstract
Localization of radio-frequency (RF) transmitters using time difference of arrival (TDOA)-based methods is one of the conventional passive techniques that admits noncooperative source position finding, but suffers from challenging requirements such as precise intersensor synchronization and high-throughput transmission data links. A tradeoff governing the TDOA systems is in the sensor placement configuration. The more distance the sensors are placed, the more accurate localization is carried out, while the cost for the synchronization and data link increases, at the same time. In this work, a novel reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided localization system is proposed that enjoys...

Abstract
High rates of mortality and morbidity stemming from cardiovascular diseases unveil extreme limitations in current therapies despite enormous advances in medical and pharmaceutical sciences. Following myocardial infarction (MI), parts of myocardium undergo irreversible remodeling and is substituted by a scar tissue which eventually leads to heart failure (HF). To address this issue, cardiac patches have been utilized to initiate myocardial regeneration. In this study, a porous cardiac patch is fabricated using a mixture of decellularized myocardium extracellular matrix (ECM) and chitosan (CS). Results of rheological measurements, SEM, biodegradation test, and MTT assay showed that the...

Abstract
Electrochemical activity of TiO2 nanotube arrays (NTAs) is restricted by a wide band gap of TiO2. To overcome this restriction, we considered systematic research on two effective methods of doping of TiO2 NTAs such as the N-doping and electrochemical reductive doping and predicting the proper application of them. Band gap narrowing was occurred from 3.16 eV for undoped TiO2 NTAs to 2.9 and 2.7 eV at N-doped and self-doped TiO2 ones respectively. The electrochemical responses of the TiO2 NTAs before and after doping were examined by cyclic Voltammetry (CV) curve. To understand the electrochemical behavior of the undoped and doped TiO2 NTAs, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was...

Abstract
Although morphological disorder of nanotube structure is further down than the nanoparticular electrode, its density of traps are the hindering effects in the charge transport. In this study, crack-free TiO2 nanotube membranes, which obtained through a re-anodizing process, are fixed on transparent fluorine–tin-oxide glass by applying a few drops of Titanium Isopropoxide without needing the TiO2 powder paste. Front-side illuminated dye sensitized solar cells fabricated by undoped, N-doped and blue TiO2 nanotube membranes are investigated. The electrical characteristics of TiO2 nanotube based dye sensitized solar cells are followed by theoretical analysis using simple one-diode model....

Abstract
In this paper, we introduce a novel and robust approach to quantized matrix completion. First, we propose a rank minimization problem with constraints induced by quantization bounds. Next, we form an unconstrained optimization problem by regularizing the rank function with Huber loss. Huber loss is leveraged to control the violation from quantization bounds due to two properties: first, it is differentiable; and second, it is less sensitive to outliers than the quadratic loss. A smooth rank approximation is utilized to endorse lower rank on the genuine data matrix. Thus, an unconstrained optimization problem with differentiable objective function is obtained allowing us to advantage from...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Hosseini, Hamid (Supervisor)
Abstract
The most important challenge in microgrids is the coordination of distributed energy resources (DERs), due to the existence of several DERs with fugacious characteristics. Also, energy management in the microgrid is very important because there may be conflicting needs or poor communication between different elements of the microgrid. In this work, a robust frame associated with a quantum version of the Teaching-Learning-Based Optimization (quantum TLBO) algorithm is proposed for the first time to the microgrid optimal energy management problem. Uncertainties in the load and in the output power of renewable energy sources are modeled using robust optimization (RO). The operation cost of the...

Abstract
The relationship between art and philosophy has been disputed for a long time and its history goes back to the ancient Greece. The dominant literary form at that time was poetry or tragedy, which are the first side of this relationship. On the other side was philosophical ethics. Plato and Aristotle are the main protagonists in this quarrel, which is known as the "Ancient Quarrel". I will first examine this quarrel and follow its different forms in the modern era, in which Hegel plays a prominent role by proposing the "end of art" thesis. By examining the criticisms made to this thesis, I will make clear the context in which the contemporary defenses that I explained in the following...
