Abstract
A special type of shell structure - a concrete shallow funicular shell of circular plan - is considered in this paper. Funicular shells carry their dead weight only by in-plane compression forces. Numerical analysis of funicular shells was performed using the non-linear finite-element method, considering both geometric and material non-linearities. A circular-plan concrete funicular shell unit was also constructed and its ultimate central concentrated load is determined. The ultimate load of the shell unit predicted by the numerical model was very close to the experimentally determined ultimate load, thus confirming the validity of the numerical model. This paper considers a realistic multi-service system design problem in which each service type is a stochastic sequence of services provided by different units of facilities where each facility is modeled as a set of open Jackson queueing networks. The problem is first formulated as a mixed-integer nonlinear programming model, which is further simplified to a model with a smaller number of constraints. Drag reduction on surfaces always has been a great case of study, especially in transport industry. This project discusses the external laminar flow of a single-phase fluid over a flat plate and the effects of making rectangular tiny grooves - in micron or millimeter - on them to reduce total drag. Making grooves with appropriate geometry on surfaces causes the fluid-solid contact area on the groove's surface turn into fluid-fluid and as a result the fluid will not shed into the groove. Characterization of reinforcing effect of alumina nanoparticles on the novolac phenolic resin

Abstract
Very fine alumina nanoparticles were loaded in novolac type phenolic resin (PF) using solution mixing method. The concentration of nanoalumina in PF was varied between 2.5 to 20 wt%. All the compounds were compression molded and then subjected to scanning electron microscopy (SEM), tensile, flexural, and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) tests. SEM analysis showed that the nanoalumina were dispersed uniformly at low concentrations, however, at high concentrations, dispersion was suppressed leading to agglomerates in the composites. Mechanical testing revealed that the nanoalumina had a great influence on the strength and stiffness of PF resin particularly at concentrations below 5 wt%....

In this study, the authors propose an analytical model to evaluate the maximum stable throughput for unicast services in vehicular ad hoc networks. In this respect, the authors employ two queueing networks (QNs) to model the mobility patterns of the vehicles as well as the multi-hop packet transmission scenario. Chaotic Flow in transportation networks has been the subject of several studies. Evolutionary models have been employed to simulate traffic flows. This study takes advantage of an existing evolutionary model of traffic assignment to show that chaotic phenomena arise when the model’s driving force is speed or density, of traffic flow. It has been observed that drivers show higher sensitivity when the network is more loaded.
Deblurring of Hyperspectral Images via Hyperspectral Unmixing

In this thesis, we propose a new compressed-sensing-based algorithm for unmixing of hyperspectral data, and show that the reconstruction quality could be significantly improved. In addition, we illustrate that by utilizing this approach, we can achieve an approximate estimation of the Point Spread Function (PSF) of the hyperspectral images. In this way, we first assume that the PSF belongs to a specific family of functions, such as Gaussian, then, by sweeping the parameters of the assumed PSF, we obtain the abundance coefficient matrix of the reconstructed image. Few works has been focused on the problem of joint distributed data compression and network coding. In this paper we give some examples showing the advantage of broadcast nature of wireless environment as a basis for joint codes design. Also we show that joint coding is possible in the case of multiple unicasts. The idea of this paper can be exploited in an opportunistic manner. In this paper, a method for overtaking stationary and moving obstacles will be introduced. The method consists of designing a desired trajectory for lateral motion of the vehicle and then using a lateral motion controller for tracking this desired trajectory. Brake friction materials filled with nanoalumina were produced by both conventional and solvent-assisted mixing methods. It was shown that nanoalumina loading led to the reduction of friction coefficient and improvement in mechanical, wear and thermal behaviors.
