In this thesis, equations related to large deformation of a polymer were derived by considering viscoelastic effects. Evaluation of the compression wave velocity (Vp ) and small strains elastic modulii of various types of plastic concrete specimens in unconfined and triaxial compression tests using piezoelectric transducers was performed in this study. Plastic concrete consists of aggregates, cement, water and bentonite, mixed at a high water cement ratio, to produce a ductile material. It is used for creating an impermeable cut-off wall for seepage control in highly permeable dam foundations. Abstract
The concentration and temperature behaviors of the self-diffusion coefficient were analyzed in glycerol-water and methanol-water solutions using Diffusion-Ordered Spectroscopy (DOSY) experiment. Our results indicate that the self-diffusion coefficient dips with increasing concentration and decreasing temperature. The concentration behavior shows that there is hydrogen bond interaction between water and alcohol, which declines the self-diffusion coefficients of both in the aqueous binary mixtures. Study of the Affecting Factors on the Stability of G-Quadruplex Structures

Abstract
We used spectroscopic techniques to study self-assembled structures based on nucleobases like G-quadruplexes and macrocycles. Also we used DOSY NMR technique to study hydrogen bonding network in alcohol solutions. First part of our results indicate thermodynamic stability and slow kinetic of G-quadruplexes in apolar aromatic solvents like toluene. Also our results show easy monitoring of formation of each K+ or Na+ complex by NMR, due to the low solubility of alkaline metal salts in apolar media and possibility to stop at any given time in order to control G-quadruplex yield. Abstract
We study the problem of maximizing constrained non-monotone submodular functions and provide approximation algorithms that improve existing algorithms in terms of either the approximation factor or simplicity. Different constraints that we study are exact cardinality and multiple knapsack constraints for which we achieve (0.25-)-factor algorithms. We also show, as our main contribution, how to use the continuous greedy process for non-monotone functions and, as a result, obtain a 0.13-factor approximation algorithm for maximization over any solvable down-monotone polytope

Abstract
Gas sparging and back-flushing treatments were compared as a means to tackle the problem of fouling in yeast microfiltration. Based on the feed and membrane characteristics, it was shown that either of these techniques could be superior to the other in order to overcome the problem. At more concentrated feed streams the main cause of flux decline was cake formation. In this condition gas sparging showed greater efficiency in flux enhancement. On the other hand at lower feed concentration the relative importance of internal fouling due to pore blockage, increased. In this case back-flushing was more effective. © 2007

This paper presents a new solution framework to locate the workstations in the tandem automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems. So far, the research has focused on minimizing the total flow or minimizing the total AGV transitions in each zone. In this paper, we focus on minimizing total cumulative flow among workstations. Linear-dendritic triblock copolymers of linear poly(ethylene glycol) and hyperbranched poly(citric acid) (PCA-PEG-PCA) were used as the reducing and capping agents to encapsulate gold and silver nanoparticles (AuNPs and AgNPs). PCA-PEG-PCA copolymers in four different molecular weights were synthesized using 2, 5, 10 and 20 citric acid/PEG molar ratios and were called A 1, A 2, A 3 and A 4, respectively. Linear-dendritic ABA triblock copolymers containing poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) as B block and hyperbranched poly(citric acid) (PCA) as A blocks were synthesized through polycondensation. The molecular self-assembly of synthesized PCA-PEG-PCA copolymers in water led to formation of nanoparticles and fibers in different sizes and shapes depending on the time and size of PCA blocks. In this paper, a novel travelling-wave printed Frequency Scanning Antenna (FSA), which can be used for imaging purposes, is proposed. All sample designs scan the space symmetrically about the broadside direction. For different scanning ranges, two low profile antennas are designed on a 6.6 mils thick Rogers 4350 board substrate layer. Impedance bandwidth of the first one covers 6.5GHz, from 29.5GHz to 36GHz, and this antenna scans 56° in angular space. In this study, biocompatible ceramic layers containing TiO2 and hydroxyapatite (HA) nanoparticles (TiO2/HA) were deposited on pure commercial titanium (Grade 2) by using plasma electrolytic oxidation and AC power supply. The coating process was carried out in five different solutions for various times at a current density of 500 mA cm−2. To achieve the optimum conditions for thickness and microstructure, the coating process was conducted in solutions with a 3 g L−1 concentration of HA nanoparticles.
