Abstract
In this project, in search of localization and synthesis of adsorbent for nitrogen purification in Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) units, studies have been carried out where after the finalized analysis around the choice of the adsorbent for synthesis and unit design, CMS has been choosen. Despite the lower selectivity compared to zeolite adsorbents in absorbing and separating oxygen from nitrogen, this adsorbent has been used as the first adsorbent in the industrial gas production industry due to higher nitrogen recovery and lower nitrogen absorption after economic studies in this field. Abstract
We proposed a personalized bolus advisor for patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D). A bolus advisor is a decision support system that recommends insulin doses based on an open-loop model-based optimization. To construct the bolus advisor, the optimal open-loop control of blood glucose (BG) concentration in T1D patients was represented as a multi-objective optimization problem. The insulin types, doses, and times for each injection were provided by the bolus advisor based on a personalized model and an average daily diet, which should be re-tuned frequently in specific time intervals. Three different feedback linearization control methods are applied to nonlinear control of type I diabetes mellitus model. One is exact FBL and the two others are approximate manners based on approximations of the nonlinear system and its duality one-form, utilizing uniform approximation and a homotopy operator, respectively. A continuous-discrete Distributed and Decentralized Switching Kalman Filter (DDSKF) is designed for estimation of spatial profiles in Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) processes. The introduced observer is an integral part of the control strategy of hybrid systems in general and PSA systems in particular. Abstract
A dynamical hybrid observer is proposed for online reconstruction of the active mode and continuous states of Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) processes as an integral part of a hybrid control system. A mode observer is designed for estimation of the active mode, and the continuous spatial profiles are estimated by a Distributed and Decentralized Switching Kalman Filter. The proposed hybrid observer has been applied, in silico, for a two-bed, six-step PSA process. In the present work, micro-climate control of a fan-ventilated tunnel greenhouse with evaporative cooling is investigated via simulation study. For this purpose, the adaptive generalized predictive control (AGPC) strategy is adopted to control temperature, relative humidity, and CO2 concentration in the greenhouse on extremely hot summer days. A dynamic model which integrates a distributed model of greenhouse micro-climate with a crop growth model is used for numerical simulation of the tunnel greenhouse. The aim of this paper is to synthesize a hybrid controller for pressure swing adsorption (PSA) processes. Since the process is described by a set of partial differential algebraic equations, first a local reduced-order model (LROM) for the process is developed and is formalized as a hybrid system. Abstract
The correlation between religious adherence and voter turnout is widely studied. However, whether the relation is causal is an open question. We use Household Expenditures and Income Survey (HEIS) data in Iran, which encompasses nine distinct religious expenditures. These expenditures have low correlation with each other and represent different aspects of religious adherence. We use Imamzadeh (some historical holy shrines) as Instruments to estimate the causal effect of religious expenditures on voter turnout. The results reveal that religious expenditures influence both presidential and parliamentary voter turnout, with a notably stronger impact on presidential elections
