Abstract
Parallel corpora are the necessary resources in many multilingual natural language processing applications, including machine translation and cross-lingual information retrieval. Manual preparation of a large scale parallel corpus is a very time consuming and costly procedure. In this paper, the work towards building a sentence-level aligned English-Persian corpus in a semi-automated manner is presented. The design of the corpus, collection, and alignment process of the sentences is described. Two statistical similarity measures were used to find the similarities of sentence pairs. To verify the alignment process automatically, Google Translator was used. The corpus is based on news...
Creating Double Optical Trap Using Fresnel Lens
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Seyed Reihani, Nader (Supervisor)
Abstract
Intensity or phase Modulation of a wavefront is possible by means of optical devices. Placing a grating or lens on the way of a wavefront, will alter the phase or intensity of it and this will make a diffraction pattern. Spatial Light Modulator (SLM) is an optical device which is the most important part of a video projector. One can apply grating, lens and other phases on the wavefront using this device. In this project we used SLM to modify phase of laser beam and then we made many focal points such that they could displace independently. The result of this project can be used in designing and creating a holographic optical tweezers. Moreover, A. Einstein proved that the light could be...
Electron-interaction effects on transport characteristics of nanotubes

Abstract
Using a tight-binding model within the mean-field approximation, the effects of different spin configurations on transport through carbon nanotubes are studied. It is observed that, in the absence of external magnetic field, the mean-field ground states of both semiconducting and metallic nanotubes are antiferromagnetic. As regards electronic/transport properties, a gap opens in the density of states of the metallic tubes for weak applied magnetic fields, and the magnetic field separates the conductance characteristics of spin-up and spin-down carriers. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. Screening at doped nanotube junctions beyond linear response

Abstract
Screening length at doped nanotube junctions, which is of primary importance in device applications, has been a controversial issue. Employing a fully self-consistent tight-binding approach, we show that, for both sharp and smooth external potential drops, the screening length is of the order of a few carbon-ring separations. This rather strong screening of the Coulomb interaction is accompanied by the oscillation of transferred charge at the junction, and is observed for both semiconducting and metallic tubes despite minor differences

Abstract
Zeolite-based photocatalysts were prepared by the sol-gel and deposition methods. The photocatalysts were characterised by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms, FTIR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry. The activity of the prepared photocatalysts was evaluated by the UV-induced degradation of acid blue 92, a textile dye in common use. The effect of various parameters, such as catalyst concentration, initial dye concentration, thiosulphate concentration and pH, on the rate and efficiency of the photocatalytic degradation of acid blue 92 was investigated. The results showed that each parameter influenced the degradation...

Abstract
This study demonstrates a new kind of photocatalytic system via utilization of the superior specific properties inherent in Pickering emulsion. We designed the new photocatalytic system using a novel p–n heterojunction Ag3PO4/BiPO4 (AB) as a photocatalytic active component, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and graphene (GR) as a hydrophobic conducting nanostructure to form the stabilized Pickering emulsion. The photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared stabilized Pickering emulsion-based system (Pe-bp system) was studied by monitoring the change in Acid Blue 92 dye (AB92) concentration under both visible and UV light irradiation. The results revealed that the Pe-bp system exhibits a...

Abstract
ZnO and Mordenite zeolite (MOR) nanoparticles were prepared by precipitation process using ultrasonic irradiation and hydrothermal method, respectively. Supported ZnO catalysts were prepared and the effect of different supports on the photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles was investigated. All prepared samples were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform-Infra Red Spectroscopy (FTIR), UV–vis spectroscopy (UV–vis) and BET surface area technique. The photocatalytic activity of the synthesized catalysts was elucidated using the photo-oxidation of Acid Blue 92 (AB92) as a hazardous pollutant under UV light. The effect of different...

Abstract
By combination of 1-ethyl-3-methyl immidazolium ethyl sulfate as a typical room temperature ionic liquid (IL) and graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets, a nanocomposite was introduced for improving the direct electrochemistry and electrocatalytic activity of glucose oxidase (GOx). The enzyme on the IL–GO-modified glassy carbon electrode exhibited a quasireversible cyclic voltammogram corresponding to the flavine adenine dinucleotide/FADH2 redox prosthetic group of GOx. At the scan rate of 100 mV s−1, the enzyme showed a peak-to-peak potential separation of 82 mV and the formal potential of −463 mV (vs Ag/AgCl in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution, pH 7.0). The kinetic parameters of the charge transfer...

Abstract
Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was successfully immobilized on amine functionalized TiO2-coated multiwalled carbon nanotubes (NH2 – TiO2 – CNTs) by a convenient and efficient method. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry and amperometry were applied to characterize the HRP/NH2 – TiO2 – CNT nano-composite. These techniques showed that the NH2 – TiO2 – CNTs greatly enhance the electron transfer between HRP and the modified electrode. Owing to the redox reaction of the electroactive centre of HRP, the HRP = NH2 – TiO2 – CNTs modified electrode exhibited a pair of quasi-reversible peaks with a peak-to-peak separation (ΔEp) of 70.6 mV and a formal potential (E 0′) of 367.65 mV...
The synthesis of multiphasic ionic liquid-coated Pt/Al2O3 catalysts: the selective synchronous hydrogenation of C=C and C=O bonds and the modeling of the ionic liquid and solvent effects

Abstract
Various ionic liquids (ILs) and their mixtures were coated on the Pt/Al2O3 catalyst and the resulting IL-coated catalysts were used in the synchronous hydrogenation of cyclohexene and acetone. The rate constant (k) and selectivity (S) toward CO hydrogenation were determined for several catalysts in various solvents. The solvatochromic parameters (ETN, normalized polarity parameter; π*, dipolarity-polarizability; β, hydrogen-bond acceptor basicity; α, hydrogen-bond donor acidity) were determined for the used ILs and solvents and the obtained selectivities were modeled based on the solvatochromic parameters of the IL layer and bulk solvent while using the Multiparameter Linear Regression (MLR)...
