    Abstract
Carbon nanotube/nanoparticle hybrid materials have been proven to exhibit high electrocatalytic activity suggesting broad potential applications in the field of electroanalysis. For the first time, modification of Ta electrode with aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes/Au nanoparticles introduced for the sensitive determination of the antibiotic drug, cefazolin (CFZ). The electrochemical response characteristics of the modified electrode toward CFZ were investigated by means of cyclic and linear sweep voltammetry. The modified electrode showed an efficient catalytic activity for the reduction of CFZ, leading to a remarkable decrease in reduction overpotential and a significant increase of...

    Abstract
Carbon nanotubes were electrodeposited in acetonitrile solution at room temperature using Cu, and Fe-Ni nanoparticles as nucleation sites on HF-etched Si(100) wafer substrate. The electrochemical behavior of the deposition was investigated by voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques. In order to obtain the optimum growth condition, the deposition critical parameters including current density range, potential and time were studied and calculated. Carbon nanotubes with approximate external diameter of 40-100 nm were fabricated under potentiostatic condition and diffusion control at - 20 V in 4-6 h. The film crystallinity was investigated by means of X-ray diffraction and the tubes...

Electrodeposition of various au nanostructures on aligned carbon nanotubes as highly sensitive nanoelectrode ensembles

    , Article Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance ; Volume 24, Issue 5 , May , 2015 , Pages 2005-2015 ; 10599495 (ISSN) Fayazfar, H ; Afshar, A ; Dolati, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
An efficient method has been developed to synthesize well-aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on a conductive Ta substrate by chemical vapor deposition. Free-standing MWCNTs arrays were functionalized through electrochemical oxidation with the formation of hydroxyl and carboxyl functional groups. Facile template-free electrochemical routes were then developed for the shape-selective synthesis of less-common Au nanostructures, including flower, sphere, dendrite, rod, sheet, and cabbage onto the aligned MWCNTs at room temperature. Especially, among all the synthesis methods for Au nanocrystals, this is the first report using electrochemical technique to synthesize wide variety...

The Study of Kinematic Dipole and Clustering Dipole Magnitudes using Large-Scale Structure Data and the Effects of Modified Gravity

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Tadayyoni, Haniyeh Sadat (Author) ; Baghram, Shant (Supervisor) ; Rahvar, Sohrab (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The dipole in the angular distribution of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) is typically attributed to the Doppler effect and our motion relative to the CMB rest frame. It is expected that observations of large-scale structures (LSS) would also exhibit a related kinematic dipole, helping to confirm the kinematic origin of the CMB dipole. However, numerous studies of the LSS dipole have shown significant discrepancies with predictions based on the CMB. In this study, we assume that the CMB dipole is due to our motion relative to the CMB frame, and using radio source data from NVSS, we calculate the dipole induced by local large-scale structures across different redshift ranges....

    Abstract
For the first time, a new platform based on electrochemical growth of Au nanoparticles on aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes (A-MWCNT) was developed for sensitive lable-free DNA detection of the TP53 gene mutation, one of the most popular genes in cancer research. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) was used to monitor the sequence-specific DNA hybridization events related to TP53 gene. Compared to the bare Ta or MWCNT/Ta electrodes, the synergistic interactions of vertically aligned MWCNT array and gold nanoparticles at modified electrode could improve the density of the probe DNA attachment and resulting the sensitivity of the DNA sensor greatly. Using EIS, over the extended...

Modification of well-aligned carbon nanotubes with dihexadecyl hydrogen phosphate: Application to highly sensitive nanomolar detection of simvastatin

    , Article Journal of Applied Electrochemistry ; Volume 44, Issue 2 , February , 2014 , Pages 263-277 ; ISSN: 0021891X Fayazfar, H ; Afshar, A ; Dolati, A ; Ghalkhani, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The first usage of dihexadecyl hydrogen phosphate (DHP)-modified highly oriented multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNTs) forests in a sensor configuration was developed to investigate the electrochemical oxidation and determination of simvastatin (SV) in pharmaceutical dosage forms. Synthesis of well-aligned MWCNTs on a conductive Ta substrate by catalytic vapor deposition technique using a common chemical, ethylenediamine, and without being plasma-aided was reported. The electrochemical behavior and oxidation of SV at the aligned MWCNTs/DHP/Ta electrode were discussed in detail through cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. This modified electrode showed considerably higher...

Synthesis of Aligned Carbon Nanotubes and Their Modification with Noble Metallic Nanoparticles as Organic Analytes Biosensors

    Abstract
An efficient method has been developed to synthesize well-aligned multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) on a conductive Ta substrate by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). By varying CVD parameters, aligned CNTs (A-MWCNTs) with diameter between 20-100 nm and length of some micrometers with bamboo-like shapes were produced. Free-standing MWCNTs arrays were functionalized and purified through electrochemical oxidation. Then in order to improve the performance, facile template-free electrochemical routes were developed for the shape-selective synthesis of less-common Au nanostructures, including flower, sphere, dendrite, sheet and rod on A-CNTs at room temperature. The results showed that the...

A misbehavior‐tolerant multipath routing protocol for wireless Ad hoc networks [electronic resource]

, Article International Journal of Research in Wireless Systems (IJRWS) ; Vol. 2, Issue 9, pp. , Sep. 2013 Sedghi, H. (Haniyeh) ; Pakravan, Mohammad Reza ; Aref, Mohammad Reza ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Secure routing is a major key to service maintenance in ad hoc networks. Ad hoc nature exposes the network to several types of node misbehavior or attacks. As a result of the resource limitations in such networks nodes may have a tendency to behave selfishly. Selfish behavior can have drastic impacts on network performance. We have proposed a Misbehavior-Tolerant Multipath Routing protocol (MTMR) which detects and punishes all types of misbehavior such as selfish behavior, wormhole, sinkhole and grey-hole attacks. The protocol utilizes a proactive approach to enforce cooperation. In addition, it uses a novel data redirection method to mitigate the impact of node misbehavior on network...
