    Abstract
In the last two decades, quantum dots nanomaterials have garnered a great deal of scientific interest because of their unique properties. Quantum dots (QDs) are inorganic fluorescent nanocrystals in the size range between 1 and 20 nm. Due to their structural properties, they possess distinctive properties and behave in different way from crystals in macro scale, in many branches of human life. Cadmium telluride quantum dots (CdTe QDs) were labeled with 68Ga radio nuclide for fast in vivo targeting and coincidence imaging of tumors. Using instant paper chromatography, the physicochemical properties of the Cadmium telluride quantum dots labeled with 68Ga NPs (68Ga@ CdTe QDs) were found high...

Graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets were hybridized with Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) to form magnetic GO (MGO) and were further labeled by [68Ga]GaCl3 as a potential drug delivery system. Paper chromatography, Fourier transform infra red (FTIR) spectroscopy, low-angle X-ray diffraction (XRD), CHN and atomic force microscopy (AFM) were utilized to characterize the trinary composite ([68Ga]@MGO). Biological evaluations of the prepared nanocomposite were performed in normal Sprague Dawley rats and it was found to be a possible host for theranostic radiopharmaceuticals. The results showed that the grafting of Fe3O4 NPs on nanocomposite reduced the unwanted liver and spleen uptakes and increased the...

Robust audio data hiding using correlated quantization with histogram-based detector

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Multimedia ; Volume 11, Issue 5 , 2009 , Pages 834-842 ; 15209210 (ISSN) Akhaee, M. A ; Saberian, M. J ; Feizi, S ; Marvasti, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
In this paper, two blind audio watermarking methods using correlated quantization for data embedding with histogram-based detector have been proposed. First, a novel mapping called the point-to-point graph (PPG) is introduced. In this mapping, the value of samples is important as well as the correlation among them. As this mapping increases the dimension of the signal, the data embedding procedure (quantization) will be diversified more securely than that of the 1-D domains such as the time or frequency domains. Hence, two watermarking techniques coined as hard and soft quantization methods based on the quantization of the PPG point radii are suggested. The performance of both techniques is...

Modeling the behavior of contending opportunistic cognitive radios

    , Article 2007 IEEE International Conference on Signal Processing and Communications, ICSPC 2007, Dubai, 14 November 2007 through 27 November 2007 ; 2007 , Pages 720-723 ; 9781424412365 (ISBN) Feizi Khankandi, S ; Ashtiani, F ; Hassani, S. H ; Tootoonchi, P ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
In this paper, we propose a new model to evaluate the behavior of cognitive radios (CRs). In this model, we consider a specific number of primary users having independent probabilistic on-off behavior. In addition, a specific number of opportunistic cognitive radios in saturation mode is assumed. We consider contention for CRs in order to occupy an inactive primary channel independently according to a simple MAC scheme. Our model is based on a closed BCMP state-dependent queueing network. We map contention of the CRs and the behavior of primary users on suitable parameters of the queueing network. By solving the network, we obtain the steady state behavior of CRs, then we find the efficient...

    , Article 2008 International Conference on Telecommunications, ICT, St. Petersburg, 16 June 2008 through 19 June 2008 ; October , 2008 ; 9781424420360 (ISBN) Feizi, S ; Zahedpour, S ; Soltanolkotabi, M ; Amini, A ; Marvasti, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
In this paper we propose a new method to recover images corrupted with salt and pepper noise. The proposed method uses ordered statistics filtering and soft-decisioning in successive approximations to find the locations and amplitudes of all the impulses. In our method we use soft-decision to generate a mask which is based on histogram distributions in local windows to distinguish impulsive noise from legitimate pixels. This mask is used to obtain an estimate of the original image by an iterative method. The result of the aforementioned algorithm can be fed back into the system to improve the image reconstruction process. This algorithm is analyzed and verified by simulation results....

    Abstract
This research deals with the Unrelated Parallel Machine Scheduling (UPMS) problem with sequence dependent setup times and release dates and machines eligibility. The studied objective is the minimization of total tardiness and earliness. The due dates and release times of the jobs are distinct which complicates the problem. Two mixed linear integer programming models proposed to solve the research problem optimally in small size instances. The problem is shown to be NP-hard in the strong sense. As it is not possible to solve medium and large size instances in approporaite time, a metaheuristic algorithm based on tabu search developed. Several versions of algorithm are obtained based on...

    Abstract
In this paper, we compute lower and upper bounds for the throughput capacity of an ad hoc network overlaid on a cellular network. The ad hoc network is comprised of a specific number of wireless cognitive nodes that opportunistically exploit the inactive frequency channels in the cellular network. In this respect, we employ a model recently proposed for single-channel mobile ad-hoc network after some minor modifications. The proposed framework consists of two queueing networks, a closed BCMP queueing network comprised of M/G/∞nodes capable of mobility modeling, and an open BCMP queueing network comprised of symmetric M/G/1 nodes capable of modeling the packet transmission process. By...

Two techniques for audio watermarking based on a novel transformation

    , Article 2007 IEEE International Conference on Signal Processing and Communications, ICSPC 2007, Dubai, 14 November 2007 through 27 November 2007 ; 2007 , Pages 1139-1142 ; 9781424412365 (ISBN) Feizi khankandi, S ; Akhaee, M. A ; Marvasti, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
The main purpose of this paper is to embed data in the transform domain of audio signals. Data embedding is similar to Quantization Index Modulation (QIM) approach. But the embedding process is performed in a novel transformation named PPG (Point to Point Graph) which converts the audio signal to a set of points in the Cartesian Coordinates. Two watermarking schemes are proposed in this paper. The first approach uses the QIM method on the radius of the PPG points while the second approach employs the logical operand for this aim. Simulation results show that these two methods have great robustness against the common attack (such as White Gaussian noise, echo and filtering). Subjective...

An Improved Ant Colony Optimization Algorithm for Solving Airline Crew Pairing Problem

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Feizi Karim Abadi, Sina (Author) ; Varmazyar, Mohsen (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In airlines, the problem of ‘flight crew scheduling’, as a part of the organization resources, holds great importance. Furthermore, considering the numerous and specific regulations regarding the working hours of flight crew, as well as constraints resulted by origin, destination, and time of each flight, this problem is also highly complex. The most significant challenge in solving this problem lies in the “construction and selection of the crew pairings” In this research, first, according to the literature, definitions and regulations necessary for the problem are stated. Then the problem is modeled as a "set covering problem," in which the rows of the problem correspond to flights which...

    Abstract
Here, a solution combustion method was employed to construct a photoanode based on bismuth vanadate (BV) composition. To curtail the fast charge recombination, phosphorus-doped g-C3N4 nanosheets (PCNS) in combination with BV are considered a potential approach. The prepared solution combustion facilitated the formation of a BiVO4-PCNS (BV-PCNS) hybrid photoanode with worm-like morphology with a simple setup. The weight ratio of PCNS/BiVO4 and the loading volume/cm2 were optimized to determine the most efficient photoanode. The highest photocurrent density of 0.5 mA/cm2 at 1.23 V vs reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE) under 1 sun illumination was achieved for the hybrid nanostructure at 2 wt...

Role of alternating current shape on microstructure and damage evolution of solder joints

    , Article Journal of Manufacturing Processes ; Volume 50 , 2020 , Pages 450-455 Siswanto, W. A ; Krasnopevtsev, A. Y ; Feizi TalarpoushtiTalarpoushti, G ; Maseleno, A ; Kuzichkin, O. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Motivated by recent works indicating the role of AC current on the reliability of electronic systems, the microstructural characterization and mechanical properties of solder joints, as vulnerable parts of electronic packages, under different alternating current shapes were investigated. The sine-, square- and triangle-waveform currents were considered for the experiments. The simulation results showed that the triangle shape current creates the highest thermal fluctuations and stress variations in the solder joints. This event was due to the lack of any relaxation time at the critical states, induced by triangle shape current, which leads to the intensification of stress in the solder...
