Modifying TiO2 Photoanodes by Co-Pi Electrocatalyst for Solar H2 Production
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Naseri, Naimeh (Supervisor)
Abstract
Currently, fossil fuels are the primary source of energy in the world. The increasing human need for energy and the limited resources of fossil fuels and their environmental side effects necessitate the search for other sources of energy. Considering its abundance and eco-compatibility, using solar energy is one of the best candidates for future. One of the methods to use solar energy is to convert and store it as hydrogen fuel by photoelectrochemical cells. In recent years, the main challenge with the production of hydrogen fuel in photoelectrochemical is optimizing them to increase efficiency. For this purpose, various approaches have been proposed such as the fabrication and use of...

Then, a model for obtaining the metro network archery scheduling program introduced with the aim of maximizing resilience and taking into account budget constraints in each period, lost user demand, arc construction constraints in one period and feasibility of total construction of arcs in each...
Kinetic studies of glucose electrocatalytic oxidation on GC/Ni electrode
, Article International Journal of Chemical Kinetics ; Volume 44, Issue 11 , 2012 , Pages 712-721 ; 05388066 (ISSN) ; Jafarian, M ; Forouzandeh, F ; Gobal, F ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
Nickel-modified glassy carbon electrode (GC/Ni) prepared by galvanostatic deposition was used for the electrocatalytic oxidation of glucose in alkaline solutions where different electrochemical methods were employed. In cyclic voltammetry studies, in the presence of glucose an increase in the peak current of the oxidation of nickel hydroxide is followed by a decrease in the corresponding cathodic current. This suggests that the oxidation of glucose is being catalyzed through mediated electron transfer across the nickel hydroxide layer comprising nickel ions of various valence states. Under the chronoamperometric regime, the reaction followed a Cottrellian behavior and the diffusion...

Abstract
Rectifiers are an integral part of power harvesting systems. In this paper, the literature on RF power rectifiers is surveyed, starting from the well-known voltage doubler. Effects of using low turn-on voltage devices on forward and reverse losses, and therefore, on conversion efficiency, is discussed. Samples of rectifiers with external devices, such as Schottky diodes are presented. Idea of external Vth cancellation through a rechargeable battery, self Vth cancellation, and floating gate transistors with charge injection onto the gates are demonstrated. Then, standard bridge rectifier and its modified versions, including Vth cancellation technique, are explained. Using low voltage devices...

Abstract
Nickel-copper alloy modified glassy carbon electrodes (GC/NiCu) prepared by galvanostatic deposition were examined for their redox process and electrocatalytic activities towards the oxidation of methanol and glucose in alkaline solutions. The methods of cyclic voltammetery (CV), chronoamperometry (CA) and impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were employed. The cyclic voltammogram of NiCu alloy demonstrates the formation of β/β crystallographic forms of the nickel oxyhydroxide under prolonged repetitive potential cycling in alkaline solution. In CV studies, in the presence of methanol NiCu alloy modified electrode shows a significantly higher response in oxidation reaction. The peak current of the...

Abstract
The electro-oxidation of methanol on nickel and nickel-copper alloy modified glassy carbon electrodes (GC/Ni and GC/NiCu) in a 1 M NaOH solution at different concentrations of methanol was studied by the method of ac-impedance spectroscopy. Two semicircles in the first quadrant of a Nyquist diagram were observed for electro-oxidation of methanol on GC/Ni corresponding to charge transfer resistance and adsorption of intermediates. Electro-oxidation of methanol on GC/NiCu shows negative resistance in impedance plots as signified by semi-circles terminating in the second quadrant. The impedance behavior shows different patterns at different applied anodic potential. The influence of the...

Abstract
Different parts of this research are focused on developing FO membranes and improving their performance. For this purpose, thin film composite (TFC) membranes with fixed composition of polyethersulfone/polyamide (PES/PA) have been used to investigate the effect of nanocomposites containing transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) on their performance. The support layer in all cases is PES, which is prepared through the phase inversion process and does not contain any nanofillers. The modification process takes place in the polyamide layer by dispersing the desired nanoparticles in the aqueous monomer solution necessary to form this active layer. Identification and characterization of...

Social Network Formation and the Role of Social Groups: Evidence from Facebook
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Madanizadeh, Ali (Supervisor) ; Rahmati, Mohammad Hossein (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
Social networks play an important role in people’s lives and have substantial economic outcomes. The role of referrals in labor market, mutual funds in developing countries, the spread of diseases and information, advertisements of goods and services, and political campaigns are just a few examples. Here we propose a strategic network formation model and calibrate and test it with Facebook data. The main idea in this model is that people don’t decide on creating links with others based on individual-link cost-benefit analysis, rather they participate in different social groups and creating links with others are a byproduct of this group participation. Our model does well with regard to...

Due to the difficulties in the preparation of suitable single crystals of novel...
Design and Fabrication of RFID Front END Transceiver single chip with 2.5W Output Power
, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology ; Atarodi, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis deals with the front-End of an Integrated RFID Reader operated in 860MHz to 960MHz, which integrates a RF transceiver including PA, LNA and Mixer. In the receiver part, a power amplifier was fabricated and measured and in the transmitter part, LNA and Mixer were designed. There is a growing interest in utilizing CMOS technologies for RF power amplifiers (PAs). Although several advances have been made recently to enable full integration of PAs in CMOS, it is still among the most difficult challenges in achieving a truly single-chip radio system in CMOS. This is exacerbated by supply voltage reduction due to CMOS technology scaling and on-chip passive losses due to the conductive...

Abstract
Inert gold become catalytically active when dispersed in the form of nanoparticles. Isolated gold nanoparticles have demonstrated high catalytic activity for both oxidation and reduction reactions. In order to obtain high catalytic activity, gold nanoparticles are generally dispersed on support materials, among which oxides are commonly used. However, a substantial decrease in activity and selectivity of the immobilized catalysts is frequently observed due to the heterogeneous nature of these support materials in reaction media. In the course of our study on the metal-based catalysis for synthesis of organic compounds, we herein report that rod-shaped Au nanoparticles in aqua solution...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Bagherzadeh, Mojtaba (Supervisor)
Abstract
The 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)-oxazoline ligand (Hphox) is generated from 1:1 condensation of methyl salicylate with 2-aminoethanol. Novel [Ru(Hphox)2(H2O)2] (Hphox = 2-(2′-hydroxyphenyl)-oxazoline ) complex has been synthesized and characterized by physic-chemical methods. Oxidation of sulfides catalyzed by the mixed-ligand ruthenium(II) complex [Ru(Hphox)2(H2O)2]using urea-hydrogen peroxide (UHP) as oxidant was investigated under mild condition within 1 h. The results showed that mixed-ligand ruthenium(II) complex was effective catalyst in oxidation of sulfides in whichsulfoxideswere the only products. Using this catalytic system in the oxidation of alkanes, ketones were obtained as the main...
