Multiclass, multistage, and multilevel fiber-optic CDMA signaling techniques based on advanced binary optical logic gate elements
, Article IEEE Transactions on Communications ; Volume 57, Issue 5, 2009, Pages 1424-1432 ; Salehi, J. A ; Sharif University Of Technology
Abstract
In this paper we introduce and propose novel signaling methods and receiver structures based on advanced binary optical logic gates for fiber-optic code division multiple access (FO-CDMA) systems using all-optical signal processing. In the proposed system the users of the network are categorized into multiple classes. Users of each class transmit at the same power level but different from the levels of the other classes' users. Using a combination of optical OR, AND and XNOR logic gates for the receiver structure we show that such a network not only takes the full advantages of all-optical signal processing but also demonstrates a considerable throughput efficiency when compared to ordinary...

Abstract
We present a constant-time randomized distributed algorithms in the congested clique model that computes an O(α)-vertex-coloring, with high probability. Here, α denotes the arboricity of the graph, which is, roughly speaking, the edge-density of the densest subgraph. Congested clique is a well-studied model of synchronous message passing for distributed computing with all-to-all communication: per round each node can send one O(log n)-bit message algorithm to each other node. Our O(1)-round algorithm settles the randomized round complexity of the O(α)-coloring problem. We also explain that a similar method can provide a constant-time randomized algorithm for decomposing the graph into O(α)...

Abstract
The A5/1 algorithm is one of the most applicable and famous stream cipher algorithms. However, the period of A5/1 keystream sequence and the exact structure of its internal state transition were not investigated thoroughly, until now. This paper deals with the transition of the internal state of A5/1 algorithm and tries to present a model for such a transition. Additionally, the internal states are divided into two groups, initially periodic and ultimately periodic. The presented model is verified using a variety of simulations and it is consistent with theoretical results as well

Abstract
In this paper, we present and analyze a novel all-optical multilevel multiclass optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) system, using optical analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and advanced optical logic gate elements. In such OCDMA network, users are distributed in Mdifferent classes. Furthermore, power level with which users in class j,j = 2⋯M, transmit optical pulses, is twice the power level at which users of class j - 1transmit their optical pulses. We achieve optical transmitter structure that satisfies these conditions using power control schemes. Also, we suggest two receiver structures for the aforementioned multiclass multilevel system. The first and simple receiver structure...

Abstract
A novel two-level signaling technique in OOC-based fiber-optic CDMA systems is proposed. Users of the system are categorized into two classes. Users of class 1 and 2 transmit the optical pulses at power level P and 2P respectively. We study two kinds of receiver structure for the proposed two-level system. For the first structure we use ordinary AND logic gate and for the second one we use optical ADC with AND logic gate structure. We obtain the system performance and we show that for the two-level signaling multi-access interference is considerably suppressed. Two-level signaling increase system performance and capacity and also presents different QoS for the users in two classes. © 2009...

Abstract
this paper presents two new methods for power flow calculation of power systems in presence of Dynamic Flow Controller (DFC), which is a new member of FACTS controllers. In first method A new steady state model of DFC is introduced for the implementation of the device in the conventional Newton-Raphson power flow algorithm. The impact of DFC on power flow is accommodated by adding new entries and modifying some existing ones in the linearized Jacobian equations of the same system without DFC. The focus of second method is on the discrete nature of the DFC and including its effects on power flow. This method is based on Nabavi model for FACTS devices. A case study on a power system located in...

Abstract
Laminated composite beams with non-uniform thickness are being used as primary structural elements in a wide range of advanced engineering applications. Tapered composite structures, formed by terminating some of the plies, create geometry and material discontinuities that act as sources for delamination initiation and propagation. Any small damage or delamination in these structures can progress rapidly without any visible external signs. Due to this reason early detection of damage in these systems during their service life is receiving increasing attention. The presence of a crack in a component or structure leads to changes in its global dynamic characteristics results in decreases in...

Abstract
This paper deals with the problem of vibration based health monitoring (VHM) in multi-stable asymmetrical laminated composite structures. Multi-stable asymmetrical laminates can be snapped between two or more geometries. The ability of snapping between two or more geometries in multistable composite structures makes them vulnerable to delaminate. Because of these reason early detection of damage in these systems during their service life is receiving increasing attention. In the present work, an efficient and accurate finite element model (FEM) based on layer-wise theory by considering the electro-mechanical coupling effect has been developed to investigate the actuation and /or sensing...

Abstract
The stability issue of mobile manipulators, particularly when the end-effector and the vehicle have to follow a predefined trajectory (for some special duties like painting a plane or carrying a light load), is a crucial subject and needs special attention. In this paper, by utilizing the manipulator compensation motions, the instantaneous proper configuration for a redundant mobile robot is determined. A fast methodology taking into account the dynamic interaction between the manipulator and the vehicle is proposed for enhancing the tipover stability (i.e. stability against overturning) of the mobile manipulator by employing the soft computing approach including a genetic algorithm, neural...

Abstract
In this study, novel hydrogel nanoparticles with dual triggerable release properties based on fibrous structural proteins (keratin) and thermoresponsive copolymers (Pluronic) are introduced. Nanoparticles were used for curcumin delivery as effective and safe anticancer agents, the hydrophobicity of which has limited their clinical applications. A drug was loaded into hydrogel nanoparticles by a single-step nanoprecipitation method. The drug-loaded nanoparticles had an average diameter of 165 and 66 nm at 25 and 37 °C, respectively. It was shown that the drug loading efficiency could be enhanced through crosslinking of the disulfide bonds in keratin. Crosslinking provided a targeted release...

Abstract
Given the increasing need for the creation and development of automated systems, the problem of detecting and identifying the faces of people in the images has been considered by the researchers. In recent years, the sparse representation based classification has been of great interest to researchers. The goal of this investigation is to provide a quick and effective way to identify faces based on the sparse representation. Since the basis of sparse representation is to calculate it through L1-norm optimization for high dimensional dictionary with high computational volume, a smoothed L0-norm optimization-based method was introduced. At the time of obtaining the sparse representation using...

Abstract
Nowadays the size and dimension of mobile manipulators have been decreased for being usable in various regions. This leads several problems such as danger of instability. Therefore, many researches have been done to overcome the problem of overturning of a mobile manipulator. In this paper, an algorithm for increasing the stability of a mobile manipulator is presented based on the optimization of a performance index. The path of vehicle and the desired task of the end-effector are predefined. In order to apply the optimal stability criterion, it is more convenient that the manipulator be of a redundant. Considering the interaction between the vehicle and the manipulator and using the genetic...

Abstract
Mobile manipulators are developed in order to execute separately in various regions where there is not possibility for human to appear there. Recently, the size of mobile manipulators has been decreased according to their given tasks. For such systems, the stability issue is very important. The robot system should be able to keep itself in an optimal situation. For reaching to this goal, one can use a redundant degree of freedom for the mobile manipulator such that this redundancy makes it possible to recover the system's stability by dynamic compensatory motion of manipulator when the system is unstable. In this paper, we present an algorithm which is fast enough to stabilize the mobile...
