CoSALEN as a new catalyst for oxidation of fullerene C60

    , Article Journal of Coordination Chemistry ; Volume 62, Issue 20 , 2009 , Pages 3384-3390 ; 00958972 (ISSN) Ghanbari, B ; Tangeysh, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
The effect of CoSALEN on anti-oxidative properties of fullerene C60 in the presence of O2 in cumene was investigated. A comparison was made between the role of the CoSALEN as a catalyst in the C60 oxidation and oxidation in the presence of an initiator, i.e., AIBN. A mechanism is proposed for the catalytic role of CoSALEN in oxidation of C60. Oxidation of octadecylaminofullerene C60 at the same conditions reveals that oxidation could be a result of hydroperoxidation of the unreacted sites of C60. We conclude that C60 as well as its aminoderivatives enhance the efficiency of CoSALEN in the oxidation of cumene due to their radical scavenging property of their unreacted double-bond sites. ©...

    Abstract
Sleep Spindle is the hallmark of the second stage of sleep in EEG signal. It had been analyzed using different methods, including Fourier transform, parametric and non-parametric models, higher order statistics and spectra, and also time-frequency methods such as wavelet transform, and matching pursuit. In this study, bump modeling has been used to analyze sleep spindle. Bump modeling is a method which represents the time-frequency map of signals with a number of elementary functions. Results of this work demonstrate that bump modeling is capable of analyzing different sleep spindle patterns in sleep EEG signals successfully

Eigen-gap of structure transition matrix: A new criterion for Image Quality Assessment

    , Article IEEE Signal Processing and Signal Processing Education Workshop, SP/SPE 2015, 9 August 2015 through 12 August 2015 ; 2015 , Pages 370-375 ; 9781467391696 (ISBN) Joneidi, M ; Rahmani, M ; Golestani, H. B ; Ghanbari, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2015
    Abstract
A new approach to Image Quality Assessment (IQA) is presented. The idea is based on the fact that two images are similar if their structural relationship within their blocks is preserved. To this end, a transition matrix is defined which exploits structural transitions between corresponding blocks of two images. The matrix contains valuable information about differences of two images, which should be transformed to a quality index. Eigen-value analysis over the transition matrix leads to a new distance measure called Eigen-gap. According to simulation results, the Eigen-gap is not only highly correlated to subjective scores but also, its performance is as good as the SSIM, a trustworthy...

    Abstract
Feature vector extraction, based on local image texture, is a primitive algorithm for many other applications, like segmentation, clustering and identification. If these feature vectors are a good match to the human visual system (HVS), we can expect to get the appropriate results by using them. Gabor filters has been used for this purpose successfully. In this paper we introduce a novel refinement, with the use of Matching Pursuit (MP) to improve the Gabor based texture feature extractor. With this improvement, we show that the separability of different textures will increase. Another consideration in this work is computation complexity. Therefore, we limit the basis function set to reduce...

    Abstract
Abstract In this work, two [60] fullerene derivatives were employed as flow improvers for waxy crude oil to reduce problems caused by the crystallization of paraffin during the production and/or transportation of the crude oil. These amine-based derivatives of [60] fullerene have been applied as wax inhibitor for improvement of rheological performance as well as pour point depressant in a waxy crude oil. Moreover, the influence of these [60] fullerene derivatives on the viscosity and pour point was also investigated in an Iranian waxy crude oil sample. The [60] fullerene derivatives were simply prepared by stirring a solution of [60] fullerene and two lipophilic amines. The results similarly...

    Abstract
We investigate various types of fuzzy linear programming problems based on models and solution methods. First, we review fuzzy linear programming problems with fuzzy decision variables and fuzzy linear programming problems with fuzzy parameters (fuzzy numbers in the definition of the objective function or constraints) along with the associated duality results. Then, we review the fully fuzzy linear programming problems with all variables and parameters being allowed to be fuzzy. Most methods used for solving such problems are based on ranking functions, α-cuts, using duality results or penalty functions. In these methods, authors deal with crisp formulations of the fuzzy problems. Recently,...

    Abstract
The interaction of [60]fullerene with a newly synthesized series of 17-to 21-membered macrocyclic ligands containing an O2N3-donor set has been investigated. The formation constants (K) arising from their complexation with [60]fullerene macrocycles, having various ring size, were measured in CHCl3 media by UV-visible spectroscopy applying Benesi-Hildebrand (BH) equation and their stoichiometries were also determined by the Job method. The best K value was measured for 20-membered ring macrocycle in which a 1:1 complexation stoichiometry with [60]fullerene was dominant. Furthermore, 1H NMR spectroscopy data reveled that the macrocylic ligand coordinates [60]fullerene via the nitrogen-donor...

Order and pole locator estimation in fractional order systems using bode diagram

    , Article Signal Processing ; Volume 91, Issue 2 , February , 2010 , Pages 191-202 ; 01651684 (ISSN) Ghanbari, M ; Haeri, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
This paper deals with estimation of fractional order and pole locator in fractional order systems. The estimation is based on Bode diagram of the system that is obtained using input and output measurements. Here the magnitude diagram is approximated with number of straight lines depending on the level of complexity and in consequence a very good estimation of fractional order and acceptable approximations of pole locators are determined. Relying on the proposed method, complexity of fractional order system identification which is mostly due to the estimation of fractional order is substantially resolved. Some example simulation results are provided to explain the work and show its...

    Abstract
The present paper reports the spectroscopic investigations on the complexation of Cu(II) with two macrocyclic ligands bonded to [60]Fullerene (L1 and L2) measured in N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) as solvent. On the basis of UV–vis-NIR spectroscopy applying Jobs method of continuous variation, typical 1:1 stoichiometries were established for the complexes of Cu(II) with L1, and L2. DFT calculations suggested that superior HOMO distributions spread over the nitrogen-donor (as well as somehow oxygen- donor in L2) groups of L1 and L2 macrocycles were the key factor for the observed Kb value enhancement. Thermodynamic stabilities for these complexes have also been determined employing...

    Abstract
Incremental learning is a learning algorithm that can get new information from new training sets without forgetting the acquired knowledge from the previously used training sets. In this paper, an incremental learning algorithm based on ensemble learning is proposed. Then, an application of the proposed algorithm for spam filtering is discussed. The proposed algorithm called incremental RotBoost, assumes the environment is stationary. It trains new weak classifiers for newly arriving data, which are added to the ensemble of classifiers. To evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, several computer experiments are conducted. The results of computer experiments show the ability of...
