    Condition Monitoring and Operation Optimization of Hybrid Energy-Water Systems in a Variable Environment

    Condition monitoring and operation optimization framework of water and energy hybrid systems has been developed in the present research work, by taking into account the variation in behavior of the system over time under changing environmental conditions. System modeling is performed using the physical laws governing the behavior hybrid energy-water system. In addition, machine learning has been used to estimate the deviation of the mathematical model from system operation, which may be due to the effect of depreciation of machinery parts and other uncertain parameters.     Abstract
    We present a new dandelion-like TiO2 spheres by a modified hydrothermal method for manufacture of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). This construct is composed of numerous nanowires for employment as the scattering layer of DSSCs. Such morphology is produced by nucleation-growth-assembly mechanism. The size of the dandelion-like spheres and their morphology can be tailored by controlling the processing parameters of the modified hydrothermal process. TiO2 nanoparticles with narrow size distribution are also synthesized by hydrothermal route for the active layer of DSSCs.     A predictive equation is proposed for the axial-flexural strength of rectangular and flanged Composite Plate Shear Walls-Concrete Filled (C-PSW/CF), with and without endplates and boundary elements. The proposed equation is based on plastic stress distribution, adjusted by coefficients to account for influential design parameters. The adjustment coefficients are established by a regression analysis performed on the data developed using an extensive numerical parametric study.     Different types of morphologies and phase structures of crystalline TiO2 were synthesized by hydrothermal methods. For the first time, dandelion-like rutile TiO2 powder composed of numerous single crystalline nanorods was synthesized using TiCl4 as the main precursor. TiO2 Nanoparticles were produced using TTIP and 2-propanol, as precursor and solvent, respectively. Field emission scanning electron microscopy analyses revealed that the synthesized TiO2 nanoparticles had average crystallite size in the range 21–70 nm, whereas dandelion-like TiO2 showed diameter in the range 2-10 µm. Typically, in SMRFs energy is dissipated by formation of plastic hinges at the beam ends. Nevertheless, based on the codes, the span-to-depth ratio of beams in SMRFs should be larger than a minimum value to assure the development of plastic hinges with sufficient length at beam ends, reducing application of short span beams.     To enable the adoption of optical Networks-on-Chip (NoCs) and allow them to scale to large systems, they must be designed to consume less power and energy. Therefore, optical NoCs must use a small number of wavelengths, avoid excessive insertion loss and reduce the number of microring resonators. We propose the Quartern Topology (QuT), a novel low-power all-optical NoC.     This paper focuses on the application of a new shear link in moment-resisting frames by perforating the web at the mid-span of the beam. Typically, in moment-resisting frames the plastic hinges are formed at the end of the beams adjacent to the beam-column connections. Seismic codes specify a minimum length for the beams that are part of the moment-resisting frames to ensure those beams are flexure-critical, and their plastic hinges are formed at their ends.
