Link Prediction in Social Networks Using the Diffusion Network Characteristics

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hossein Nazer, Tahora (Author) ; Rabiee, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Given a snapshot of a network, link preditction methods try to infer future intractions be-tween its nodes. These methods may be used in either analyzing current state of the network or predicting future links of it. Link prediction techniques have many applications among which we can mention recommendation systems. These systems are implemented for com-mercial reasons or preventing user confusion in huge amount of information available.A new perspective toward link prediction is based on supervised random walk. In such methods, a random walker starts from a node in the network and randomly traverses to one of the current node’s neighbours with a probability proportional to the chosen link’s...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasemi, Nazer Hossein (Author) ; Hormozi-Nezhad, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today, the use of graphene quantum dots has been very much considered due to easy synthesis methods, strong fluorescence emission, and many sources of synthesis. In this study, the effect of changing capping agent of graphene quantum dots toward iron (Ⅲ), copper (Ⅱ) and mercury (Ⅱ) ions was studied. The linear range of response of the graphene quantum dots synthesized with ethylenediamine for mercury (Ⅱ) and iron (Ⅲ) ions was 10-70 µM, and this sensor also responded to Cu (Ⅱ) ions. Urea synthesized graphene quantum dots also responded to all three ions. The linear range of the response for mercury (Ⅱ) , iron (Ⅲ) and copper (Ⅱ) ions was 5-25, 10-70 and 120-120 μM respectively. The linear...

Creating a Protective Coating Against Corrosion and Erosion on the Surface of the Parts using in Sour Environments

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasemi Tabasi, Hossein (Author) ; Kokabi, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
A concern in the production sour oil and gas is the corrosion caused by the acid gas H2S. Even though corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) have long been available as a material selection option that mitigates H2S corrosion, the carbon steel is in general more cost-effective for oil and gas facilities. The aim of this study is to investigate the mechanical properties of 410NiMo cladding on a low alloy steel substrate. In this investigation, two successive layers of ER410NiMo were clad on low alloy steel substrates. To reduce the likelihood of Hydrogen Induced Cracking (HIC) and producing stable hydrogen traps, Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) was used. To characterize the mechanical properties of...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nazer Kakhki, Naghmeh Sadat (Author) ; Mohammadzadeh, Hoda (Supervisor) ; Hossein Khalaj, Babak (Supervisor) ; Basiri, Mohsen (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
T lymphocytes or T cells are a type of white blood cell that play an important role in the immune system. Memory T cells are a subset of them that are able to reactivate when being re-exposed to the pathogen. Because of the properties of these cells, they are an attractive choice for immunotherapy. Initial memory subgroups were shown to be more persistently effective in immunotherapies. However little is known about development and differentiation of these subgroups. With the discovery of a new subset of T cells, called T memory stem cells (TSCM), They are considered to develop through four stages, naive T cells (TN), T memory stem cells (TSCM), central memory T cells (TCM) and effector...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasemi, Mahsa (Author) ; Nobahari, Hadi (Supervisor) ; Pourtakdoust, Hossein (Supervisor) ; Mohammad Karimi, Hamed (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is sliding mode control of a roll-pitch seeker by considering the zenith pass problem. This problem takes place when the target appears in front of the seeker’s head. First, the mathematical model of the roll and pitch frames is obtained by the Newton-Euler equations of motion. Then, a MIMO sliding mode controller is designed. The performance of the controller is investigated in the presence of model uncertainties and seeker disturbances. The results indicate that the designed controller is robust enough and provides a suitable performance in the stabilization, tracking and guidance loops.

    Abstract
In the past decade, assays that profile different aspects of the epigenome have grown exponentially in number and variation. However, standard guidelines for researchers to choose between available tools depending on their needs are lacking. Here, we introduce a comprehensive collection of the most commonly used bulk and single-cell epigenomic assays and compare and contrast their strengths and weaknesses. We summarize some of the most important technical and experimental parameters that should be considered for making an appropriate decision when designing epigenomic experiments. © Copyright © 2021 Mehrmohamadi, Sepehri, Nazer and Norouzi

    , Article 2006 ASME Joint U.S.- European Fluids Engineering Division Summer Meeting, FEDSM2006, Miami, FL, 17 July 2006 through 20 July 2006 ; Volume 1 SYMPOSIA , 2006 , Pages 1-10 ; 0791847500 (ISBN); 9780791847503 (ISBN) Ghasemi, A ; Sharif University of Technology
American Society of Mechanical Engineers  2006
    Abstract
A new perspective suitable for understanding the details of nonlinear pumping (formation of traveling shocks) inside a pressurized cavity is constructed in this paper. Full compressible axisymmetric three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are used as the starting point to cover all complexities of the problem that exceedingly increase for particular ranges of Mach, Reynolds and Prandtl numbers. Then a very high-order numerical method is introduced to preserve the user-defined order of accuracy for practical simulations. For removal of spurious waves, higher-order compact filters are derived. All equations are marched in time using the classical Runge-Kutta algorithm which is appropriate...

    Abstract
Large-stencil schemes which their spectral properties are acceptable in the vicinity of ω = π are analyzed for the first time. A machine independent model for evaluating the efficiency of generalized time-marching finite-difference algorithms over periodic domains is developed. This model which is based on operation count reveals that for small values of Total Computational Cost(TCC), the previous low-order small-stencil schemes are more efficient while for moderate TCC, the efficiency of optimized large-stencil schemes abruptly increases. This important result is the motivation for developing optimized large-stencil schemes. The current schemes are successfully implemented in a full...

    Abstract
Recently, several high-order accurate methods have been developed for solving nonlinear equations governing in the high-frequency oscillations of a fluid column. If we assume that the value of Reynolds and Prandtl numbers are high enough then it is possible to neglect the effect of Stokes Layer and it has been previously shown that the calculated pressure profile obtained by solving three-dimensional axisymmetric compressible NS (Navier-Stokes) equations is in good agreement with one-dimensional adiabatic model of Ilinskii. For this particular flow which is the typical of engineering flows inside acoustical compressors, it is clear that high-resolution simulation of NS equations in higher...

    Abstract
Migraine is a complex disabling condition which is associated with dysregulation of several pathways particularly those being associated with immune responses. In order to assess contribution of protein inhibitor of activated STAT (PIAS) in the pathogenesis of migraine, we quantified expression levels of PIAS1–PIAS4 genes in the circulation of patients with migraine compared with controls. Expression of PIAS1 was substantially lower in total migraineurs compared with controls (ratio of mean expressions (RME) = 0.18, SE = 0.29, P value < 0.001) and in both male and female migraineurs compared with sex-matched controls. Expression of PIAS2 was lower in migraineurs without aura compared with...

Measurement of Gini Coefficients by Means of Household’s Special CPI in Iran(1984-2005)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasemi, Mojtaba (Author) ; Nili, Masoud (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Gini coefficient is the most prevalent index for the measurement of inequality and is usually extracted by means of nominal variables based on income or expenditures of households. In this study we have extracted more accurate Gini coefficients. By using the raw data of Households Budget Survey (HBS) and STATA software, a special CPI for each household of the sample is extracted. Subsequently nominal expenditures are deflated by these special CPIs, and at last, Gini coefficients are extracted from real expenditures. Our findings indicate that in recent years, extracted Gini coefficients are remarkably higher than prevailing ones.

Studying and Comparing Agile and Lean Supply Chain Models and Determining the Optimum Model Using Genetic Algorithm

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Daei, Mohammad (Author) ; Ghasemi, Farhad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
As you know in lean supply chains, it is tried to: reduce the wastes of resources and achieve more production with lower consumption of resources. This system is very well suited for many supply chains in which the final determinant factors are price and quality. In contrast, recently, the concept of agile supply chain has been introduced, insisting on flexibility and high service level. Opposite to lean supply chain, agile supply chain needs safety stock to be able to respond to market’s changes.
Regarding the dissimilarities of these models –including the disagreement in the allocation of safety stock to nodes– In this thesis, in addition to studying and comparing these two approaches,...

A Trust-based Approach for Correctness Verification of Query Results in Data Outsourcing Scenario

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasemi, Simin (Author) ; Jalili, Rasool (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the security issues in database outsourcing scenario is the correctness of the query results. Correctness verification includes integrity, completeness and freshness of the results. Most of the proposed approaches for correctness verification impose high overhead on the components of the scenario which prevents the scenario to implemented in practical applications. In this thesis, we have proposed a probabilistic approach which imposes acceptable overhead for correctness verification of returned results of service provider. The approach uses the previous behavior of the service provider to calculate a trust value toward it which is used to adjust the imposed overhead. In other words,...
