Abstract
Porous NiTi shape memory alloy (SMA) was fabricated by sintering of compressed constituent elements pre-mixed with NaCl or urea spacer holders. Effect of spacer to metal volume-ratio (r S) on shape, size, distribution and openness of the voids was probed by optical metallography, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used to determine the SMA transformation temperatures. Controllable void geometry helping osteoblast proliferation and bone cell growth was gained by addition of the spacers. At r S = 0.7, percentage of the open pores reached 52% while at r S = 1.43, interconnected pores with 200 to 500 μm diameter were...

Abstract
A web-based system is designed and implemented as a risk communication tool to incentivize the public to take seismic risk mitigation measures. Risk denotes the expected monetary and social losses herein. The objective of this system is to raise the awareness of two audience groups, the general public and decision makers, about significant seismic risk in Iran. To address the general public, the system employs the notion of risk perception to put the results of sophisticated earthquake engineering risk analyses into perspective. The system also treats the epistemic uncertainty of user input due to the public's lack of technical knowledge through the notion of entropy in information theory....

Abstract
The main drawback of lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries which leads to a short lifetime, is the shuttle effect during the battery operation. One of the solutions to mitigate the shuttle effect is the utilization of interlayers. Herein, graphene oxide (GO) paper as an interlayer has been implemented between the sulfur cathode fabricated by the vapor deposition process as a binder-free electrode and a separator in a Li-S battery in order to gain a sufficient capacity. The morphological characteristics and electrochemical performance of the fabricated electrode have been investigated. The fabricated battery demonstrates an initial discharge capacity of 1265.46 mAh g-1 at the current density of 100...

Abstract
Global warming and other adverse environmental effects of fossil fuels have forced humans to consider clean and renewable energy resources. In this context, hydrogen production from water splitting reaction is a key approach. In order to reduce required overpotential for water oxidation reaction, it is necessary to use low cost and earth abundant electrocatalysts like Co, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni and Zn nanostructures. Herein, cobalt nanostructures on steel-mesh substrate were applied. Electrochemical method was used for growth of Co nanoflakes because of its simplicity and scalability for commercial approach. On the other hand, using carbonaceous support layers including nanomaterials such as...

Abstract
Herein, the effect of electrodeposition time on the super-capacitive performance of three-dimensional (3D) MnO2/g-C3N4 heterostructured electrodes was investigated. MnO2 nanoparticles were electrodeposited on the g-C3N4 nanosheets drop-casted on the Ni foam substrate. The microstructural analysis, carried out by FE-SEM and TEM, confirmed the homogeneous distribution of MnO2 nanoparticles on g-C3N4 nano-sheet layers. The electrochemical capacitive performances of the MnO2/g-C3N4 electrodes were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge/discharge tests, and electrochemical impedance spectra (EIS). The obtained results suggested that the supercapacitor (SC) performance of all...

Abstract
In this letter, the Gaussian two-way relay channel with direct links is investigated in which two users aim at exchanging their messages with the help of a relay node. We propose a new lattice-based compress-and-forward strategy and obtain its achievable rate-region. We show that the proposed scheme is superior to all previously known achievable schemes for channel gains larger than one. In particular, under the symmetric case, the proposed scheme is able to achieve a capacity region within 0.5 bit or (1/2)log 3 ≅ 0.79 bit, depending on the power of the relay

Abstract
TiO2, transition metal (Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn)- and aluminum-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared by the sol-gel technique. The sulfated catalysts were prepared by the impregnation method with H2SO4 solution. The catalysts were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD), BET surface area measurement, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) techniques. The sulfate content of the metal-incorporated samples was considerably higher than for SO4 2-/TiO2. The metal doping brought about a considerable reduction in the extent of sulfate loss from the catalyst surface due to the wide dispersion on the surface. The SO4 2-/TiO2 and SO4 2-/M/TiO2...

Abstract
Lithium-Sulfur (Li-S) batteries are considered as one of the promising candidates for next-generation Li batteries in near future. Although, these batteries are suffering from certain drawbacks such as rapid capacity fading during the charge and discharge process due to the dissolution of polysulfides. In this paper, Sulfur/metal oxide (TiO2 and SiO2) yolk-shell structures have been successfully synthesized and utilized to overcome this problem and improve the electrochemical performance of sulfur cahtode material. Prepared materials have been characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The results show...

Abstract
This study has investigated the effect of carbon coating on the electrochemical performance of SnO2 Nanowires (NWs) as an electrode along with a bis (trifluoromethane) sulfonimide lithium (LiTFSI)-based electrolyte in a lithium-ion battery (LIB). The vapor-liquid-solid approach has been used to grow SnO2 NWs on the stainless steel mesh current collector. The obtained results have demonstrated that the utilization of the LiTFSI-based electrolyte improved the battery performance with the SnO2 NWs electrode over the LiPF6-based electrolyte. This may be due to the formation of a stable and thin solid electrolyte interphase layer. Since bare SnO2 NWs exhibit inferior cycling stability due to...

Abstract
TiO2 and transition metal (Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn) doped TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized by the sol-gel method using 2-hydroxylethylammonium formate as an ionic liquid. All the prepared samples were calcined at 500 °C and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), BET surface area determination, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS), and Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR) techniques. The studies revealed that transition metal (TM) doped nanoparticles have smaller crystalline size and higher surface area than pure TiO2. Dopant ions in the TiO2 structure caused significant absorption shift into the visible region. The results of...

Abstract
The current paper reports the deposition of sulfur micro-particles using sulfur vapor deposition (SVD). Sulfur particles in size of 5 to 45 μm were deposited on a stainless steel substrate to be used as the cathode with porous structure in lithium sulfur (Li-S) batteries. Mass loading of about 0.5 mg cm-2 was obtained from this pure sulfur cathode. The structure of this binder-free cathode was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), x-ray spectroscopy (EDS), and x-ray diffraction (XRD). The electrochemical performance of the battery with two different organic liquid ether- and carbonate-based electrolytes was investigated and the results demonstrated that the...

Abstract
The network of actin filaments in the lamellipodium (LP) of stationary and migrating cells flows in a retrograde direction, from the membrane periphery toward the cell nucleus. We have theoretically studied this phenomenon in the circular stationary (fully spread) cells. Adopting a continuum view on the LP actin network, new closed-form solutions are provided for the actin-retrograde-flow (ARF) in a polar coordinate system. Due to discrepancy in the mechanical models of the actin network in the ARF regime, solutions are provided for both assumptions of solid and fluid behavior. Other involved phenomena, including polymerizing machine at the membrane periphery, cytosol drag, adhesion...

Abstract
Lattice codes are known to outperform random codes for certain networks, especially in the Gaussian two-way relay channels (GTWRCs) where lattice codes are able to exploit their linearity. As an extension of the GTWRC, in this paper, we consider the asymmetric Gaussian two-way line network where two nodes exchange their messages through multiple relays. We first investigate the capacity region of the full-duplex two-way two-relay line network. The results can be extended to an arbitrary number of relays and to half-duplex scenarios. This channel consists of four nodes: 1 ↔ 2 ↔ 3 ↔ 4, where nodes 1 and 4 with the help of two full-duplex relays, i.e., nodes 2 and 3, exchange their messages...

Abstract
Due to the technical advances in power electronic industry, employing inverter-based distributed energy resources (IBDERs) are increased in electric power systems. Distributed generators (DGs) with the rating capacity of few megawatts are commonly connected to the distribution level of power systems which are inherently unbalanced. A cluster of IBDERs and loads form a small-scale grid called microgrid (MG) which can operate independent of the main grid. In a MG, grid forming voltage source converters (VSCs) are used to control the voltages and frequency of the MG. However, grid forming VSCs with conventional control schemes cannot do this task properly when the MG is unbalanced. In this...

Abstract
Through the activation process of T cells, actin filaments move from the cell periphery toward the cell center. The moving filaments engage with T cell receptors and thus contribute to transportation of the signaling molecules. To study the connection between the moving actin filaments and T cell receptors, an experiment available in the literature has measured filaments flow velocity passing over a region of confined clusters of receptors. It shows that flow velocity decreases in the proximity of the receptors, and then regains its normal value after traversing the region, suggesting a dissipative friction-like connection. In this work, we develop a minimal theoretical model to re-examine...
