Environmental and Economical Assessment of Green Building Compared with Conventional Buildings in Iran (A Case study in the city of Karaj)
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Erhami, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis studied the definition of a green building and the elements associated with the construction of a green residential apartment in comparison with traditional buildings with respect to condition of Karaj city. The first step in green construction is preparing a guideline. For this, LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) the most well-known code for green buildings is used and Adapted with Iran’s National Building Regulations. Creating a checklist to rate buildings is one of the most important parts of Green Building Regulations. To achieve the points, US LEED certification is analyzed in both qualitative and quantitative perspectives. A questioner is applied in...
Kinetics and mechanism of diallyl sulfoxide pyrolysis; a combined theoretical and experimental study in the gas phase
, Article RSC Advances ; Volume., 4, No (108) , Nov , 2014 , pp. (62809-62816) ; Gholami, M. R. (Mohammad Reza) ; Sharif University of Technology
2014
Abstract
A combined experimental and computational study was carried out on the gas phase pyrolysis reaction of diallylsulfoxide. Allylalcohol and Thioacrolein were detected as the major products during a unimolecular reaction. Experimental kinetic studies were carried out via a static system over the pressure of 21-55 torr and temperature of 435.2-475.1 K. Based on the experiments, the reaction is homogeneous and proceeds through a zwitterionic intermediate. Computational studies at the DFT (B3LYP) and QCISD(T) levels with 6-311++G(d,p) basis set indicated a two-step concerted pathway as the possible route. Comparison between the experimental and theoretical activation parameters for the most...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Gholami, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Solute-solvent and solvent-solvent interactions were investigated in mixtures of 2-hydroxy ethylammonium formate with methanol, ethylene glycol and glycerol. Solvatochromic parameters, including normalized polarity ( ), dipolarity/polarizability (π*), hydrogen-bond donor (α), and hydrogen-bond acceptor (β) abilities, were determined in these mixtures. parameters showed synergetic effects in mixtures of ionic liquid and alcohols due to the preferential solvation. Experimental data were handled in Redlich-Kister model and demonstrated a fair correlation with predicted data. Solvent effects on reaction kinetics were studied in aromatic nucleophilic substitution reaction of 2-Chloro-3,5-...

Antibacterial Activity of Magnetic Fe3O4/X (X=Ag, Cu, Au) Nanocomposites Modified with Ionic Liquid
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Gholami, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis, Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were produced using co-precipitation method. The surface of these magnetic nanoparticles is modified by ionic-liquid groups, and then coated with Cu, Au and Ag metals. These nanoparticles were unstable before their surface modification, so that they were easily agglomerated. However, after their surface is modified with ionic-liquid, they become very stable and are easily solved in polar and non-polar solvents. This solubility depends on the alkyls groups connected to the ionic-liquid. Magnetic nano composites Fe3O4/X (X=Ag, Cu, Au) modified by ionic-liquid are prepared by absorbing Cu(NO3)2, HAuClO4 and AgNO3 salts on the surface of modified...

Mechanism Investigation of Metallic Nanoparticles Interaction with Biological Molecules using Molecular Dynamic Simulation
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Gholami, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Amyloid β (Aβ) peptide is believed to be associated with the progression of Alzheimer's disease. One of the main obstacles in developments of therapeutic agents to combat progression of Alzheimer's disease, is the presence of the blood–brain barrier (BBB), which prevents the penetration of the majority of drugs. However, nanoscale objects are able to cross the BBB at low concentrations. Therefore, it is worthwhile to study the interactions of these peptides at the interface of nanomaterials. In this work we have employed molecular dynamics, and weighted histogram analysis methods in order to study the dynamic behavior and affinity of Aβ25-35 peptide on metallic surfaces of different...

Thermodynamic, structural and transport properties of ester-functionalized ionic liquids (ILs), also kwon as biodegradable ILs, were extensively investigated using molecular dynamic simulation. Thermodynamics features of this class of ILs were computed from 1.5 ns simulations. Nanoscale organization of these ILs was evaluated by computing several structural properties. The formations of micelle-like nanostructures were disclosed from the achieved results of structural properties. The obtained results were also confirmed by calculating transport traits. These results suggest that the incorporation of an ester group into the alkyl side chain of the cation promotes the cation–anion interionic...

As the achievability of higher rates in wireless channels is a challenging issue, analysis of efficient and practical power allocation policies for different wireless channels such as Multiple Access Channel(MAC), Relay Channel, Interference Channel is one of the research interests for many years. Convex optimization or generally optimization is one of the important problems in communication science. Optimum power allocations are also a discussing argument in information theory which in these problems the objective function is usually the transmitting rate and the problem's constraints are power constraints which must be satisfied. In this thesis, first we investigate convex optimization...
