Numerical Simulation of Viscous Compressible Flow Around an Oscilating Airfoil Using Immersed Boundary Method
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Hejranfar, Kazem (Supervisor)
Abstract
In the present study, the computation of the viscous compressible flow over two-dimensional geometries is performed by using the immersed boundary method and applying a second-order finite volume scheme. For the solution of the governing equations, a uniform Cartesian grid that is not coincident with the body surface is used and the boundary conditions on the wall are satisfied by the ghost-cell immersed boundary method. The spatial discretization of the fluid equations is carried out using the second-order central difference finite volume scheme and the time integration is performed by applying the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method. To stabilize the solution algorithm and reduce unwanted...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Amini, Morteza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Today, smart devices have become an integral part of everyday life. The Android operating system is also the most popular operating system of these devices, and as a result, various malwares are produced and distributed for this operating system every day. This makes it especially important to investigate these malwares. This includes finding people involved in the development and distribution of malware, as well as discovering other malwares created by them. Discovering other involved entities, such as social media accounts, websites, Android store accounts, and taking steps to prevent malware from being distributed by them is another aspect of this story. In order to deal with organized...

Abstract
Apatite-coated Ag/AgBr/TiO2 was prepared by deposition of Ag as novel metal to generate electron-hole pairs by extending the excitation wavelength to the visible-light region, AgBr, and hydroxy apatite as photosensitive material and adsorption bioceramic, respectively. The energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry clearly showed the presence of Ti, Ag, Ca, and P elements on the surface of catalyst. The bactericidal experiments in dark media indicated that only the novel catalyst shows inhibiting growth of bacteria in this case. A transmission electron microscopy image illustrated that catalyst nanoparticles adhere to the outer membrane of the cell and act as an inhibitor to the nourishment of...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Skandari, Morteza (Supervisor)
Abstract
The propagation of the surface waves in the piezoelectric (PE) and piezomagnetic (PM) layered media are studied. The surface BG waves in the PE half-spaces overlaid by a layer are considered and the closed-form dispersion relations for the open and short electromechanical surface boundary conditions are obtained. The numerical results for the phase velocities and the electromechanical coupling factor for PZT-2 and PZT-8 media are presented. Furthermore, the propagation of the Rayleigh waves in the PE-PM layered media is considered. The effects of the imperfect bonding between the half-space and the layer are discussed. Later, we study the propagation of the Rayleigh waves in 4 different...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Gholami, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Haghighi, Saeed (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
In this project, Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles were prepared by co-precipitation method. For protecting them against oxidation and also avoiding from direct contact between core and additional materials that probably makes unwanted reactions, the surface of nanoparticles were coated by SiO2 layer. Being easy to modify and having the control of interactions between nanoparticles are the advantages of coating nanoparticles with silica. The obtained Fe3O4@SiO2 core-shell nanoparticles were covered by two types of polymer (PPG and PEG). The basis of the composite was characterized by VSM, TGA, SEM, XRD, and FT-IR analytical methods.

Abstract
Multi-component photocatalysts based on apatite-coated Ag=AgBr=TiO 2 were prepared by the deposition method. The effects of various kinds of apatites, with hydroxyl and fluoro substituents, on photocatalytic activity were investigated. The antibacterial processes in the dark, and under visible light, on two types of bacteria indicate that the multi-composites can inhibit the growth of bacteria by two different mechanisms. TEM images and optical microscopic data demonstrate that by attaching the nanosize catalyst to the outer membrane of the cell, the bacteria could not derive nourishment from surrounding media, i.e. this component acts as bacteria-static. The mechanism for deactivation of...

Abstract
This paper develops a reliability-based model for distribution network expansion planning (DNEP) studies. It incorporates the effects of distribution line maintenance in the planning studies to be considered as an alternative for the installation of feeders. To that end, at first, some models are introduced to effectively estimate the effects of maintenance activities budget on distribution lines' failure and repair rates. Therefore, the reliability data of distribution lines are updated in the reliability evaluation studies of distribution networks. Then, these models are involved in the formulation of DNEP problem which is introduced as a multi-objective optimization model. The developed...

Abstract
Zeolite-based Ag/AgBr and Ag/AgBr/TiO 2 photocatalysts were prepared by sol-gel and deposition methods and were characterized. Their photocatalytic activities were evaluated by inactivation of Escherichia (E.) coli and the photodegradation of Acid Blue 92 and potassium permanganate. The composites containing Ag/AgBr showed the antibacterial activity in the dark by releasing Ag ions into the medium. The results for inactivation of E. coli indicated that Ag/AgBr/TiO 2 modified photocatalyst had better antibacterial activity than Ag/AgBr/zeolite, while zeolite and TiO 2/zeolite did not show any antibacterial activity under visible light and dark conditions. Photodecolarization rate was affected...

Abstract
This paper presents a hierarchically distributed algorithm for the execution of distribution state estimation function in active networks equipped with some phasor measurement units. The proposed algorithm employs voltage-based state estimation in rectangular form and is well-designed for large-scale active distribution networks. For this purpose, as the first step, the distribution network is supposed to be divided into some overlapped zones and local state estimations are executed in parallel for extracting operating states of these zones. Then, using coordinators in the feeders and the substation, the estimated local voltage profiles of all zones are coordinated with the local state...
