Investigation of the Effect of Interleaved Memory on WCET in Real-Time Embedded System

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hossein Ghorban, Ali (Author) ; Ejlali, Alireza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Worst case execution time (WCET) and energy consumption are two of the most important design constraints of real-time embedded systems and memory subsystem has a major impact on both of them. Therefore, many recent studies have tried to improve the memory subsystem of embedded systems by using emerging non-volatile memories instead of conventional memories such as SRAM and DRAM. Indeed, the low leakage power dissipation and improved density of emerging non-volatile memories, makes them prime candidates for replacing the conventional memories. However, accessing these memories imposes performance and energy overhead and using them as the code memory may increase the WCET.Furthermore, most...

    Abstract
The emergence of synchronization among a set of individual oscillators that are coupled in a network is an amazing physical phenomenon that appears in many different systems, from natural sciences to even human behavior. The phenomenon has attracted the attention of many researchers in many fields of science and engineering by the science behind its unique collective behavior without some kind of external organization. One of the most popular models for the dynamical evolution of coupled phase oscillators is the Kuramoto model, which gives a simple yet powerful formalization together with a numerical measure called the degree of synchronization. The crucial role of structural properties of...

    Abstract
Let G be a graph. It is well-known that G contains a proper vertex-coloring with χ(G) colors with the property that at least one color class of the coloring is a dominating set in G. Among all such proper vertex-coloring of the vertices of G, a coloring with the maximum number of color classes that are dominating sets in G is called a dominating-χ-coloring of G. The number of color classes that are dominating sets in a dominating-χ-coloring of G is defined to be the dominating-χ-color number of G and is denoted by dχ(G). In this paper, we prove that if G is a claw-free graph with minimum degree at least two, then dχ(G)≥2

Balance Assessment in Parkinson Disease based on a Combination of Posturographic Indices

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zahedi, Amir (Author) ; Behzadipour, Saeed (Supervisor) ; Taghizadeh, Ghorban (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease in which balance disorders are a common symptom. Clinical and non-clinical methods have been developed to evaluate the quality of maintaining balance. Clinical methods include questionnaires and tests that are scored by the therapist and therefore depend on the examiner's skill. On the other hand, there are biomechanical methods that do not depend on the therapist's skill. Posturography -based methods are among the biomechanical tests used today to assess balance. In these methods, some indicators are extracted from the patient's foot center of pressure that can measure the quality of balance. These studies usually examine the...

    Abstract
Synchronization among a set of networked nodes has attracted much attention in different fields. This paper thoroughly investigates linear formulation of the Kuramoto model, with and without frustration, for an arbitrarily weighted undirected network where all nodes may have different intrinsic frequencies. We develop a mathematical framework to estimate errors of the linear approximation for globally and locally coupled networks. We mathematically prove that the eigenvector corresponding to the largest eigenvalue of the network's Laplacian matrix is enough for examining synchrony alignment and that the functionality of this vector depends on the corresponding eigenvalue. Moreover, we prove...

    Abstract
In this paper we explore the existence of periodic solutions of a nonautonomous semi-ratio-dependent predator-prey dynamical system with functional responses on time scales. To illustrate the utility of this work, we should mention that, in our results this system with a large class of monotone functional responses, always has at least one periodic solution. For instance, this system with some celebrated functional responses such as Holling type-II (or Michaelis-Menten), Holling type-III, Ivlev, mx (Holling type I), sigmoidal [e.g., Real and mx2/((A + x)(B +x))] and some other monotone functions, has always at least one ω-periodic solution. Besides, for some well-known functional responses...
