Abstract
The electrodeposition of cobalt, nickel and Ni-Co alloys was studied by electrochemical techniques. Cyclic voltammetry and current transient measurements were used to characterize the Co-Ni system in other to obtain the nucleation and growth mechanism. The cyclic voltammetry results clearly showed that electrodeposition of cobalt, nickel and Co-Ni alloy is diffusion-controlled process with a typical nucleation mechanism. The redox potentials of the Co and Ni are shifted to more cathodic potentials in the Co-Ni alloy system. In addition, the current transients revealed that nucleation mechanism is instantaneous with a typical three-dimensional (3D) nucleation and growth process. The number of...

Abstract
In this article we show that for any forest there exists a labelling of the vertices for which the row-reduced echelon form of its adjacency matrix is a {-1, 0, 1}-matrix. This result clearly provides an affirmative answer to the conjecture: The null space of the adjacency matrix of every forest has a {-1, 0, 1}-basis. © 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved

Abstract
A new heterogeneous copper catalyst was synthesized by immobilization of copper ions onto magnetic nanoparticles with a new ligand based on triazole. The catalyst was characterized using scanning and transmission electron microscopies, atomic absorption and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies, and thermogravimetric, elemental and energy-dispersive X-ray analyses. The results confirmed that a good level of organic groups was immobilized on the magnetic nanoparticles. Huisgen cycloaddition reaction was chosen as a model reaction for the investigation of catalyst activity under green conditions. Phenylacetylene and benzyl bromide derivatives were used for the synthesis of triazoles. The...

Abstract
ZnO nano-architectures were produced with the aid of a fast, simple and low cost microwave-assisted synthesis method. Solid semispherical ZnO nanoparticles on the order of 600 nm in diameter along with rice-like ZnO nanorods 95 nm thick were produced from butanol, triethanolamine (TEA), and zinc acetate dihydrate. Solid spherical ZnO nano-architectures with an average diameter of 250 nm were produced from the same starting materials in addition to NaOH. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy were used to characterize the ZnO nano-architectures as well as the precursor. This method is cheap, fast and simple; capable of producing large quantities...

Abstract
Let G be a graph of order n and rank(G) denotes the rank of its adjacency matrix. Clearly, n ≤ rank (G) + rank (over(G, -)) ≤ 2 n. In this paper we characterize all graphs G such that rank (G) + rank (over(G, -)) = n, n + 1 or n + 2. Also for every integer n ≥ 5 and any k, 0 ≤ k ≤ n, we construct a graph G of order n, such that rank (G) + rank (over(G, -)) = n + k. © 2006 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved

Abstract
These days the number of nonlinear loads in power systems is increasing dramatically. These nonlinear loads inject harmonic currents and the voltages. Accordingly, the modeling of these loads and analysis of their effects on power quality has gained much attention. This paper presents harmonic models for residential appliances. The model is based on Norton equivalent technique. The parameters of appliances models are determined using measurements. These models are then verified by comparison with the measurements results for each load. Based on the developed individual loads, an estimate for a household/an office customer is found and the harmonic content for such customers is estimated. An...

Optimal station-keeping near Earth-Moon collinear libration points using continuous and impulsive maneuvers
, Article Advances in Space Research ; Volume 52, Issue 12 , 2013 , Pages 2067-2079 ; ISSN: 02731177 ; Assadian, N ; Sharif University of Technology
2013
Abstract
In this study the gravitational perturbations of the Sun and other planets are modeled on the dynamics near the Earth-Moon Lagrange points and optimal continuous and discrete station-keeping maneuvers are found to maintain spacecraft about these points. The most critical perturbation effect near the L1 and L2 Lagrange points of the Earth-Moon is the ellipticity of the Moon's orbit and the Sun's gravity, respectively. These perturbations deviate the spacecraft from its nominal orbit and have been modeled through a restricted five-body problem (R5BP) formulation compatible with circular restricted three-body problem (CR3BP). The continuous control or impulsive maneuvers can compensate the...

Abstract
Aluminum use for automotive body sheet applications is growing. This growth requires improvement of related joining processes and technologies. Resistance spot welding will be one of the major joining technologies used in assembling automobiles. In this study the effects of weld current and time on the spot weldability of aluminum alloy 5754 autobody sheet were investigated. The results indicate that the influence of weld current on spot weldability of aluminum is more significant comparing to the weld time. The results also show that the weld current within 15-22 kA is more significant than 22-30 kA range of weld current. There is a linear relation between shear strength and nugget...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Titanium anodes activated by noble metal oxides under the trade name of dimensionally stable anodes (DSAs) are widely used in the electrolytic industry, particularly in chlor – alkali electrolysis. Over 20 years of use, the fundamental aspects of their long – lasting performance are not fully understand and the corrosion mechanisms are still the subject of many investigations. RuO2 – TiO2 coatings on titanium substrate, due to proper electrochemical characteristics and good corrosion resistance, is most applicable as an anode in chlor – alkali systems. In the present investigation, the first layer of Pt – Ir coating is applied via electrodeposition method on the pretreated titanium substrate...

Statistical MPSoC Architecture Optimization under Process Variation
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Goudarzi, Maziar (Supervisor)
Abstract
In nanometer technologies, the effect of process variation is observed in Multi-Processor System on Chip (MPSoC) in terms of variation in processors‟ frequency and leakage power. Traditionally, only worst case values of the system parameters were concerned and a worst-case optimization algorithm was employed for an application under design. As previous researches have shown these algorithms are not optimal in terms of parametric yield compared with newly employed statistical optimization algorithms. In this project, we have considered the problem of simultaneously selecting MPSoC architecture (which includes type and number of processors and the communication media) and task and...
The Effect of Porosity on Photocatalytic Properties of TiO2 Nanocoating Fabricated By Sol-Gel
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the synthesis and characterization of high porous Ti based on thin films and the effect of polymer agents on their photocatalytic properties. Ti films can demonstrate different properties like self -cleaning and treatment of broad range of aqueous pollutants when it is exposed to light of wavelength less than 400 nm. This is due to photocatalytic reaction occurring on film surface which results in film superhydrophilicity and the active oxygen species production. This active sites and radicals will cause oxidize organic pollutants and microbe adherent to the material surface.
In this study Ti thin films have been prepared by the sol-gel method from...

Electroplating of Bronze-Graphite-SiC Composite Coating
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
Abstract
Composite coatings including self-lubricant particles such as graphite, MoS2, Al2O3 and SiC are extensively used to decrease the coefficient of friction of tribo-surfaces. Adding lubricant particles to an appropriate metallic matrix like copper, nickel, lead and their alloys is a suitable option in severe condition –for instance high temperature and low pressure- which liquid lubricants will be failed. Bronze can give various properties such as wear resistance, corrosion and oxidation protection, However cyanide solutions for electroplating process have environmentally limited for plating of Cu-Sn. In this research, a chloride electrolyte for bronze electroplating was developed and effect of...
Optimal Control of Spacecraft on the Earth-Moon Lagrange Point Orbits considering Sun and other Planets and Elliptic Orbit Perturbations
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Assadian, Nima (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis, optimal station keeping of spacecraft on the closed-orbits near the Earth-Moon Lagrange points has been investigated. Lagrange points L1 and L2 are unstable equilibrium points of the circular restricted three-body problem (CRTBP), and periodic orbits near them are the destination of modern missions. However, perturbations resulting from the gravitational forces of the Sun and the planets and the eccentricity of the orbit of the Moon around the Earth make the Lagrange point unstable, even L4 and L5, which are stable in CRTBP. The most suitable choice for spacecraft mission near the collinear Lagrange points is the Halo and other closed-orbits around them, which need...
