Abstract
In this paper, we propose two different types of circuit models for Fano-shape guided-mode resonance (GMR) in waveguide gratings. Both the models constitute a resonant tank circuit together with a direct non-resonant channel between the incident and scattered light. One neglects the frequency dependence of the direct non-resonant channel and is only more accurate in the immediate vicinity of the Fano-type resonance. The other accounts for the frequency dependence of the direct non-resonant channel and thus remains accurate within a wider range of frequencies. Abstract
We propose a range-free localization framework in which a network of randomly deployed acoustic sensors can passively use natural acoustic phenomena within its environment to localize itself. We introduce a novel approach for registration of sensors observations which takes advantage of a clustering technique on triplets of associated observations. A Bayesian filtering method is employed to incrementally improve system state estimation as more observations become available. To the best of our knowledge this is the first work done on range-free passive acoustic localization. Simulation experiments of the proposed algorithms are presented. © 2008 IEEE

Abstract
In this letter, a new approach to perform edge detection is presented using an all-dielectric complimentary metal-oxide-semiconductor-compatible metasurface. Our design is based on the guided-mode resonance, which provides a high quality factor resonance to make the edge detection experimentally realizable. The proposed structure is easy to fabricate, and it can be exploited for detection of edges in two dimensions due to its symmetry. In addition, a tradeoff between gain and the resolution of edge detection is discussed, which can be adjusted using appropriate design parameters. An expression is proposed to evaluate the ordered-packed volume fraction of hard spheres of unequal diameters in multicomponent mixtures. This value can be used with different mixing rules and with any one-component hard-sphere equation of state (EOS) meeting the correct close-packed limit. It is shown that the new method improves the results produced by conventional mixing rules for the individual radial distribution functions (RDFs) at contact value of hard-sphere mixtures. Two new hard-sphere EOS are proposed and tested using the same attractive potential terms used by the SAFT EOS. Generalized expressions for the pair RDF at contact value, the compressibility factor, and the excess chemical potentials have been derived. Extension to mixtures is tested using three mixing rules for multicomponent hard-sphere fluids. Satellite remote sensing products of AOD from MODIS along with appropriate meteorological parameters were used to develop statistical models and estimate ground-level PM10. In this study, the values of the surface tension for a number of single aqueous electrolyte solutions were measured at various temperatures and electrolyte concentrations using the well-known and computer-aided pendant-drop method. In order to conduct the experimental measurements, a high-pressure IFT-700 apparatus, equipped with a view cell and a data acquisition system, was used. The systems studied in this study were aqueous solutions of KCl, NaCl, CaCl 2, and Na 2SO 4. Experimental values for surface tension of single and mixed electrolyte solutions were correlated using the models based on the perturbation theory. The Mean Spherical Approximation (MSA) model, coupled with the Ghotbi-Vera (GV) and the Mansoori et al. (BMCSL) equations of state, were used to correlate the experimental values of the surface tension. The results showed that the models can favourably correlate the experimental values for single electrolyte solutions. The results of the minimum miscibility pressure (MMP) determination for miscible injection of CO2 and an associated gas of one of Iranian gas reservoirs into two different oil samples using a slim tube device are presented. For an effective determination of the MMP cell-to-cell slim tube simulation was performed for each case before performing the slim tube experiment and the results were used to determine the pressure intervals in the slim tube experiment. The Ghotbi-Vera hard sphere equation of state as the reference system, coupled with the mean spherical approximation, (GV-MSA), has been used to accurately correlate the mean ionic activity coefficients of aqueous solutions of single 1:1 electrolytes. A prey-predator fishery model with stage structure for prey is discusing in this thises. The adult preyand predator populations are harvested in the proposed system. The dynamic behavior of the model system is discussed. It is observed that singularity induced bifurcation phenomena is appeared when variation of the economic interest of harvesting is taken into account.
