    Dynamic Parameters of Saturated and Unsaturated Sand at Different Range of Shear Strain Levels in Cyclic Simple Shear Test

    Abstract
    In this investigation, a series of cyclic simple shear tests were carried out in order to evaluate dynamic parameters of Babolsar and Toyoura sand at levels of saturation 25, 50, 75 and 100%. 96 tests were conducted using SGI type cyclic simple shear device. The specimens were cylindrical, with 7cm diameter and 2.2 cm height. The tests were performed under both drained condition (constant-load) at levels of saturation 25, 50%, and undrained condition at levels of saturation 75, 100%. All tests were performed under vertical consolidation stress of 50 and 150 kPa, relative density of 30 and 70% and cyclic shear strain of 0.5, 5 and 10%.     In this paper real-time optimization of the Tennessee Eastman challenge process is accomplished in a fuzzy environment. This study focuses on violation of TE constraints in fuzzy environment and also violation of some additional constraints originated from operating mode of the plant. Furthermore the objective function is treated in fuzzy form. Results show a great reduction of operating cost, which is selected as the objective function of this study.     On-line optimization for the base case of the Tennessee Eastman (TE) challenge problem is presented; furthermore, an interesting operating condition near base case has been obtained, which results in a lower cost function.     A Real-Time Optimization (RTO) strategy incorporating the fuzzy sets theory is developed, where the problem constraints obtained from process considerations are treated in fuzzy environment. Furthermore, the objective function is penalized by a fuzzified form of the key process constraints. To enable using conventional optimization techniques, the resulting fuzzy optimization problem is then reformulated into a crisp programming problem.     Comparison of the traditional linear heating method of TPD with an original stepwise heating scheme was reported for the first time. Stepwise heating TPD was carried out by keeping the temperature constant as soon as ammonia desorption signal rises until the signal returns to the baseline. More ammonia desorption peaks on a SAPO-34 catalyst were identified using TPD with stepwise heating. The effect of temperature ramp on desorption peak broadening in TPD curve was also addressed.     Hydrocracking is one of the most versatile petroleum refining processes for production of valuable products including gasoline, gas oil, and jet fuel. In this paper, a five-parameter continuous lumping model was used for kinetic modeling of hydrocracking of vacuum gas oil (VGO). The model parameters were estimated from industrial data obtained from a fixed bed reactor operating at an average temperature of 400°C and residence time of 0.3 h.     Abstract
    In this letter, we propose a method for real-time high density impulse noise suppression from images. In our method, we first apply an impulse detector to identify the corrupted pixels and then employ an innovative weighted-average filter to restore them. The filter takes the nearest neighboring interpolated image as the initial image and computes the weights according to the relative positions of the corrupted and uncorrupted pixels. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms the best existing methods in both PSNR measure and visual quality and is quite suitable for real-time applications

    Low silicon content SAPO-34 was successfully synthesized using the conventional hydrothermal crystallization in the static condition. Effects of different synthesis conditions including crystallization temperature and the silicon source were investigated through X-ray diffraction patterns. It was concluded that the silicon source had a significant effect on silicon incorporation into the alumino-phosphate building blocks in the course of crystallization.
