    Abstract
    In this paper, a detailed analytical model for dynamic analysis of the Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine is presented. The model is capable to predict the machine behavior under different modes of operation including: simple induction mode, cascade mode and synchronous mode, both with and without winding faults and unbalanced excitations. The proposed approach employs the basic principles of the generalized harmonic theory for calculating self inductances and mutual inductances of circuits with any distribution of conductors. Dynamic equations of modified coupled-circuit method are then solved to compute the currents flowing in the stator windings and rotor loops

    Abstract
    In this paper, analytical expressions are presented to describe the stator and rotor slotting effects on the distribution of Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine's quantities. The effects of rotor slot and loop skewing on the produced torque ripples are then investigated by means of an analytical model considering skew. Torque ripples have considerable effects in the machine operation especially on its starting process and avoid machine from successful starting in some instances. The cogging torque and distortion of the sinusoidal distribution of the magnetic flux density in the air gap, are two principle sources of torque ripples in Brushless Doubly-Fed Machine that are studied. © 2009 Praise...

    Abstract
    Bone scaffolds are combinations of several materials, for achieving suitable properties and usage for replacing with defected bone. In this study, TCP/Agarose scaffolds are fabricated by two different approaches. The first one is using polymer sponge and gel casting technique and the other one is using foaming agent in order to obtain scaffolds with same porosity. The results show that in spite of same structure and porosity, scaffolds have different mechanical properties due to their different morphologies.     Three-dimensional biocompatible porous structures can be fabricated using different methods. However, the biological and mechanical behaviors of scaffolds are the center of focus in bone tissue engineering. In this study, tricalcium phosphate scaffolds with similar porosity contents but different pore morphologies were fabricated using two different techniques, namely, the replica method and the pore-forming agent method.     Four 5-, 10-, 20- and 30-story moment frames, representing low-, mid-, and two high-rise structures, were subjected to a great number of idealized directivity pulses. The amplitudes and periods of pulses vary from 0.02 g to 1.0 g and 0.5 to 12 sec, respectively. Over 1400 nonlinear dynamic analyses of low- to high-rise moment frames were performed which were feasible through using modified fish-bone model.     Grinding is widely used for manufacturing of components that require fine surface finish and good dimensional accuracy. In this study a thermo-mechanical finite element analysis is conducted to find out how grinding parameters can affect temperature and residual stress distribution in the workpiece. Results of parametric study presented in this work indicate, by carefully selecting the grinding parameters, minimum thermal and mechanical damage can be achieved.     Shot peening is widely used to improve the fretting fatigue strength of critical surfaces. Fretting fatigue occurs in contacting parts that are subjected to fluctuating loads and sliding movements at the same time. This paper presents a sequential finite element simulation to investigate the shot peening effects on normal stress, shear stress, bulk stress and slip amplitude, which are considered to be the controlling parameters of fretting damage.     Characterization and calcination behavior of a low-grade manganese ore, as a part of Mn ferroalloys production, was studied by XRF, ex-situ XRD, in-situ XRD, and SEM-EDS techniques. Calcination experiments were carried out at and up to 900 °C (1173 K) in air and argon atmospheres. The samples were in particles and powder forms.
