    Abstract
One of the requirements for the operation and planning activities of an electrical utility is the prediction of load for the next hour to several days out, known as short term load forecasting (STLF). This paper presents the STLF of the Iranian national power system (INPS) using artificial neural networks (ANN) and fuzzy expert systems (FES). The ANN is trained with the load patterns corresponding to the forecasting hours and the forecasted load is obtained. The FES modifies the initial forecasted load for the special holidays and also in the case sudden changes in temperature. A data analyser and a temperature forecaster are also included in the NRI STLF (NSTLF) package. The program has...

    Abstract
One of the most important requirements for the operation and planning activities of an electrical utility is the prediction of load for the next hour to several days out, known as short term load forecasting (STLF). This paper presents STLF of Iran national power system (INPS) using artificial neural network (ANN). The developed program is based on a four-layered perceptron ANN building block. The optimum inputs were selected for the ANN considering historical data of the INPS. Instead of conventional back propagation (BP) methods, Levenberg-Marquardt BP (LMBP) method has been used for the ANN training to increase the speed of convergence. A data analyzer and a temperature forecaster are...

    Abstract
Welded sheets with different thicknesses are one of the interesting types of tailor-welded blanks (TWBs) that are widely used in metal-forming industries. In the present work, the formability behavior of different 1100-aluminum TWBs was studied. In this regard, the TWBs were made with different thickness ratios by using friction stir welding (FSW) at different welding rotational speeds (ω). The thickness ratios of 1.0, 1.3, and 1.7 were investigated where the thinner sheets had 1.5 mm thick for all conditions; i.e., the volume of welded material increased when the thickness ratio increased. Macrostructural observations, mechanical investigations, and sheet-forming limit tests were...

Controlling best response dynamics for network games

    Abstract
Controlling networked dynamical systems is a complex endeavor, specifically keeping in mind the fact that in many scenarios the actors that are engaged in the dynamism behave selfishly and therefore only take into account their own individual utility, a setting that has been widely studied in the field of game theory. One way that we can control the system dynamics is through the use of control parameters that are at our disposal, but finding optimal values for these parameters is a complex and time consuming task. In this paper we use the relation between network structural properties and control parameters to create a mathematical model that uses learning methods to find optimal values...

    Abstract
The effect of nut geometry, curved spring washer and a sealing material (Teflon tape) on the fatigue life of M12 and M16 ISO bolts was investigated. This was accompanied by the study of the axial and bending stress distribution in threads by numerical simulation of bolt and nut connections using the finite-element method. The experimental results showed that the highest fatigue life is achieved for a slotted tapered nut. The presence of a spring washer also increases the fatigue life, providing that the correct tightening torque is applied to produce a pretension in the bolt. The use of Teflon tape as a filling material between engaging threads of the bolt and nut is shown to significantly...

Designing a Model-Based Process and Architecture for Partial Automation of Software Development

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Jalal, Ali (Author) ; Habibi, Jafar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Automation of the software development process is the software engineers' final goal, but with the current facilities and knowledge in software engineering, it is not possible to automatically generate the whole software. Usually all the software in a specific domain contain common behaviors, which by careful exploration of these common behaviors and automation of code generation in these sections, the cost and time of projects' execution can be reduced. According to Model Driven Development (MDD), the first step in software development is creating appropriate models. For creating models, metamodel is required; therefore, we need to create a specific motamodel for the chosen domain or use...
