    The reliability levels against which seismic standards are calibrated are currently quantified based on accepted practice, which may not lead to optimal designs that minimize the lifecycle cost. Deviation from optimal design is even more pronounced in countries whose regulations are adopted from the few leading codes. A major challenge in the quantification of optimal target reliability for the countries with such adopted codes is the lack of risk models that are suited for the local construction industry and design practices.     Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) approach with the k-ε closure model is employed for the first time to simulate direct Solid-Phase Micro-Extraction (SPME) computationally. Simulations are performed by using COMSOL Multiphysics in order to examine methods to decrease the extraction time. Experiments are also conducted to support data obtained from the numerical framework. Di-n-Butyl Phthalate (DNBP) and etched steel wire are chosen as the analyte and the adsorbent, respectively.     In this paper, we propose a new trust-region method for solving nonlinear systems of equalities and inequalities. The algorithm combines both standard and adaptive trust-region frameworks to construct the steps of the algorithm. The trust-region subproblem is solved in the first iteration using a given initial radius. Then, in each iteration, the standard trust-region method is followed whenever the current trial step is accepted, otherwise, the subproblem is resolved using an adaptive scheme.     In this paper, we extend some results of [F. Shaveisi, lower bounds on the vertex cover number and energy of graphs, MATCH Commun. Math. Comput. Chem, 87(3) (2022) 683-692] which state some relations between the vertex cover and other parameters, such as the order and maximum or minimum degree of graphs. Also, we prove that for a graph G, E(G) ≥ 2β(G) - 2Ce(G) and so E(G) ≥ 2β(G) - 2C(G), where E(G), β(G), Ce(G) and C(G) denote the energy, vertex cover, number of even cycles and number of cycles in G, respectively.     Abstract
    PM steel parts have become more widely used in recent years by reason of materials and cost savings. This paper deals with the mechanical properties of PM parts made of ULTRAPAC-LA (Fe-0.5Mo-1.5Cu-1.75Ni) with 0.2 and 0.5% graphite addition. ULTRAPAC-LA having the same chemical composition as Distaloy AB was investigated. Specimens with dimensions of 89×6×5.5 mm3 were prepared. The green compacts were sintered at 1120°C in a 75 H2-25 N2 atmosphere for 40 minutes to densities in the range of 6.7g/cm3 to 7g/cm3. The same phenomenon is expected on a longer time scale when the light of remote stars crosses an interstellar turbulent molecular cloud, but it has never been observed at optical wavelengths.     This manuscript describes the implementation of plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (DC-PECVD) and vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) techniques to fabricate a yolk-shell SnO2@Void@C nanowire (NW) structure. SnO2 nanowires have been synthesized on the stainless steel mesh substrate through the VLS method.
