Bioleaching of Heavy Metal from Industrial Incinerator Ash

Abstract
This study focused on the investigation of bioleaching of heavy metals from incinerator ash using Thiobacillus thiooxidans. Eight factors were examined for their significance on bioleaching using a Placket-Burman factorial design. Four significant variables (pulp density, Initial pH, sulfur Concentration and inoculation amount) were selected for the optimization studies. The combined effect of these variables on metal bioleaching was studied using a central composite design. Abstract
In this study, degradation of trichloroethylene (TCE), a chlorinated hydrocarbon, using starch supported Fe/Ni nanoparticles was investigated. The scanning electron microscope images showed applying water soluble starch as a stabilizer for the Fe/Ni nanoparticles tended to reduce agglomeration and discrete particle. Also the mean particle diameter reduced from about 70 nm (unsupported Fe/Ni nanoparticle) to about 30 nm. Effects of three key independent operating parameters including initial TCE concentration (10.0-300.0 mg L-1), initial pH (4.00-10.00) and Fe0 dosage (0.10-2.00) g L-1 on TCE dechlorination efficiency in 1 hour were analysed by employing response surface methodology (RSM)....

Server workloads benefit from execution on many-core processors due to their massive request-level parallelism. A key characteristic of server workloads is the large instruction footprints. While a shared last-level cache (LLC) captures the footprints, it necessitates a low-latency network-on-chip (NOC) to minimize the core stall time on accesses serviced by the LLC. In this thesis, the flow behavior in a fluidic oscillator-based flowmeter is investigated using two-dimensional numerical simulations and experimental tests. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the effect of geometrical parameters and flow conditions on the performance of the fluidic oscillator and to determine the relationships between key parameters such as oscillation frequency, oscillation amplitude, pressure drop, and the standard deviation of the Strouhal number.
