Robustification of Deep Learning Structures Based Ongenerative Models
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Kazemi, Reza (Supervisor) ; Amini, Sajjad (Supervisor)
Abstract
In recent years, deep learning has experienced rapid and remarkable advancements, demonstrating exceptional performance in various applications such as computer vision, natural language processing, and autonomous vehicles. These models are continually evolving and expanding, yet they harbor inherent vulnerabilities that prevent complete trust in their reliability. One of the most critical issues is their susceptibility to adversarial attacks, where a clean image is subtly manipulated to create an adversarial example. Adversarial examples, generated by adding imperceptible perturbations to input data, can easily mislead deep learning models into making highly confident yet incorrect...
Optimal Batch Production for a Single Machine System with Rework
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Haji, Ali Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
This research attempts to develop the optimal solution for an inventory problem consisting of a single machine which produces items some of which may be defective. We assume that no shortages are allowed and all defective items are to be reworked. Setup cost for rework and waiting time of defectives are considered. This research consists of two different parts. In the first part we consider two different policies where in the first policy in each cycle after the regular production the machine is setup for the rework of defectives of the same cycle. In the second policy several cycles constitute a period. All the defectives produced in the period are reworked in the last cycle of that period....

Abstract
In this paper, the truly Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method is extended for computation of steady incompressible flows, governed by the Navier-Stokes equations (NSE), in vorticity-stream function formulation. The present method is a truly meshless method based on only a number of randomly located nodes. The formulation is based on two equations including stream function Poisson equation and vorticity advection-dispersion-reaction equation (ADRE). The meshless method is based on a local weighted residual method with the Heaviside step function and quartic spline as the test functions respectively over a local subdomain. Radial basis functions (RBF) interpolation is employed in shape...

Abstract
This paper deals with the solution of two-dimensional fluid flow problems using the truly meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method. The present method is a truly meshless method based only on a number of randomly located nodes. Radial basis functions (RBF) are employed for constructing trial functions in the local weighted meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method for two-dimensional transient viscous fluid flow problems. No boundary integration is needed, no element matrix assembly is required and no special treatment is needed to impose the essential boundary conditions due to satisfaction of kronecker delta property in RBFs. Three different radial basis functions (RBFs), i.e....

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mofid, Massood (Supervisor)
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the seismic performance factors of a structure with the composite shear wall system that, if properly implemented, a nonlinear seismic design process will lead to safety against earthquake collapse. In this research, a special type of composite shear wall is investigated, which consists of a steel plate in the middle of the reinforced concrete shear wall. The purpose of this combination is to improve the performance of the wall because steel plates can effectively improve the seismic behavior of the structure, and concrete can protect the steel plate from buckling and corrosion. In this study, numerical models are validated according to previous...

Abstract
Free surface flows are frequently encountered in hydraulic engineering problems including water jets, weirs and around gates. An iterative solution to the incompressible two-dimensional vertical steady Navier-Stokes equations, comprising momentum and continuity equations, is used to solve for the priori unknown free surface, the velocity and the pressure fields. The entire water body is covered by a unstructured finite element grid which is locally refined. The dynamic boundary condition is imposed for the free surface where the pressure vanishes. This procedure is done continuously until the normal velocities components vanish. To overcome numerical errors and oscillations encountering in...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Bagheri, Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Nowadays, with the increasing number of polyethylene terephthalate wastes, the issue of its recycling has become very important. Among the problems of polyethylene terephthalate recycling are its loss of crystallinity and mechanical properties. Recycled polyethylene terephthalate does not have the properties of new polyethylene terephthalate and using its mixture with other materials is an effective way to remove its waste from nature and return it to the production cycle. The aim of this study is to produce a mixture of recycled polyethylene terephthalate with polycarbonate and glass fibers with mechanical properties such as good impact strength, which ultimately leads to the production of...
Robust Control of Regenerative Chatter in Orthogonal Cutting Process with Spindle Speed and Feed Rate Variation
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Vossoughi, Gholam Reza (Supervisor) ; Movahhedy, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
During the turning operation, the interaction of the metal cutting process and machine tool causes a dynamic instability called self-excited vibration or chatter. Limited productivity rate, decrease in tool life, poor surface quality and noisy workplace are some adverse effects of the chatter vibration. Chatter suppression in machining processes results in more material removal rate, high precision and surface quality. In this thesis, two control strategies are developed to suppress chatter vibration in turning process including a worn tool. A single degree of freedom model of the turning process including tool wear is briefly described. In the first stage, a sinusoidal spindle speed...
Enhanced Electronic Properties in Mesoporous TiO2 Via Passivation Treatment in Perovskite Solar Cells
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Perovskite solar cells are the new generation of solar cells, and are mainly introduced in two types of structures.1) planer and 2) mesoscopic structure. The difference between these two structures derives from the absence of mesoporous layer in the planer structures. The mesoporous layer acts as an electron transporting layer, and is mainly a titanium dioxide semiconductor. To apply the mesoporous layer, the preparation of the TiO2 paste is needed. The synthesis of titanium dioxide nanopowder for the preparation of TiO2 paste requires high temperature heat treatment and is not desirable in terms of energy consumption.Another weakness of this layer is the presence of surface defects, which...
Coarse-gained Multi-scale Modeling for Numerical Simulation of Nonlinear Behavior of Materials in Nano-scale
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Khoei, Amir Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis, a coarse-grained multi-scale method for 2D crystallyn solids based-on finite element consepts has presented. In this method, both scales are atomic scale and similar to what we see in non-local QC method, the entire atomic structure will be intact. Accordingly, calculations of potential functions and forces in the domain will have the atomic accuracy. In the presented method to reduce the domain’s degrees of freedom, the classical finite-element meshing concept to mesh the elastic linear areas in the domain is used and the MD calculations will done on the mesh nodes. Therefore, degrees of freedom in the system will reduce and consequently, the computational cost will reduce....
Rapid Assesment of Peak Floor Acceleration of Structures Using Transfer Functions
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Karami Mohammadi, Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Peak Floor Acceleration (PFA) is a necessary requirement in Industrial Buildings for the design of equipment, piping, cable tray and ventilation duct supports. The seismic analysis of equipments needs the determination of PFA at the points where the equipments are fixed on the supporting structure. The classical spectral methods (SRSS, CQC) do not allow this determination which can be done in using the time integration method. This last approach needs to perform numerous calculations with various realizations of the seismic excitation. This thesis aims to present a method allowing calculating the response properties of a linear elastic shear building structure loaded by a transient...

Design of Doped TiO2 Dye-sensitized Solar Cells with Different Arrangement Modes of Photoanode Electrodes
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
In this thesis, pure –known as T- and chromium doped titanium dioxide nanoparticles –known as -CTx- with different dopant atomic ratio (0.1 to 5 %at.) were synthesized using a facile, fast and efficient method. FESEM and XRD studies showed no morphologic and structural change via Cr doping of nanoparticles (size in the range of 20-30 nm). However, according to DRS analysis, Cr intrusion in TiO2 crystal structure, drastically reduced band gap energy of pure TiO2 from 3.14 eV to 1.81 eV for CT3 powder and improved absorption range of UV-Vis spectrum. Mott-Schottky plots indicated that, Cr doping, caused reduction in donor density of TiO2 and an upward shift in the conduction band edge....

Preparation of Mg-doped TiO2 Nanoparticles for Dye-sensitized Solar Cell Applications
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
Dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSCS) is the third-generation of solar cells based on semiconductors formed between a photo sensitized anode and counter cathode which make a photo electrochemical system. They haven’t been commercially marketed due to their lower efficiency than the previous generations. In order to achieve the higher efficiency, the electron injection and light absorption must be increased. One way to increase electron injection is doping the semiconductor with an external ion to reduce lattice band gap. In this work, we made powder and Nano-structured film of titanium dioxide doped with various molar ratios of Mg by the sol-gel process. The effect of Mg:Ti molar ratio on...
