The Impact of Pension Benefits on The Retirement Age of Oil Industry Employees

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hajisadegh, Mohammad Hamed (Author) ; Vesal, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
How does retirement plane affect retirement decision? This paper uses the data of 24,000 retirees of oil industry of Iran between 1996 and 2016 to answer the question. We calculate Accrual, Option Value, and Peak Value to evaluate retirement behavior. These variables calculate the difference between utility of retirement in the current year and some time in the future. Theoretically we expect that higher values in these variables lower the probability of retirement. We use two types of probabilistic models, linear and non-linear. In the linear model we run a pooled OLS and in the non-linear model we use a Probit model to estimate the effect of the variables above on the retirement...

The Effect of Weather Changes on Iran’s Labor Market

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hajisadegh, Mohammad Sadegh (Author) ; Vesal, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Climate change, a global phenomenon with wide consequences, has been the subject of many researches in recent years. The effects of this phenomenon are especially evident in developing countries such as Iran, where people often lack the necessary resources for effective adaptation. In this research, considering the challenges in Iran’s labor market, we intend to estimate the effect of weather change on employment. For this purpose, we have used the daily changes of temperature and rainfall in a panel model with fixed effects for causal identification and have shown that a day with a temperature of 20-32 degrees causes a 0.2 percent decrease in employment compared to a 0-10 degree day and an...

A fast and reliable multi-sender algorithm for peer-to-peer networks

, Article Journal of Network and Computer Applications ; Volume 32, Issue 3 , May , 2009 , Pages 733–740 Firooz, M. H. (Mohammad Hamed) ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
Due to special constraints in peer-to-peer (P2P) networks (such as bandwidth limitation) and because of their highly dynamic characteristics, a single node cannot provide a reliable multimedia stream to the receivers. Several multi-sender algorithms are proposed to reliably deliver a media stream to the receiver through the intrinsically unreliable P2P networks. Based on upload bandwidths and availability of peers as well as the bandwidths of the links connecting the senders and the receiver, PROMISE selects a set of active senders to maximize the expected bit-rate delivered to the receiver. By careful investigation of PROMISE, in this paper, we present why and how it deviates from finding...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Salehi, Mohammad Mahdi (Author) ; Moradi, Hamed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays, economical extraction of oil and gas, and their products is an important issue for many countries. Up to now, vertical wells have been used for oil extraction but some wells exist that they cannot be reached by using vertical drilling; for example the wells under a sea. Therefore, this makes the governments and scientists determined to find a new way to reach them. Horizontal drilling is one of the new ways to reach such worthy wells. In this project, dynamics of the horizontal drill string is studied. Then, according to the forces that affect the dynamics of drilling, its vibration is analyzed. After finding the boundary conditions and normal modes of the system with using mode...

A Decision Support System for Selecting Investment Incentives in Residential Solar Panels Using Game Theory

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Tahmasebi Sarighieh, Mohammad Mahdi (Author) ; Haj Kazem Kashani, Hamed (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Given the increasing importance of renewable energy and the environmental challenges posed by fossil fuels, this study primarily focuses on optimizing the use of solar energy and determining appropriate policies to increase investment in this sector. Residential buildings are among the major energy consumers, and given the available space on their rooftops, they provide a suitable location for the use of solar technology. Even when investors have the necessary financial resources, they prefer not to invest in this sector. This indicates an investment gap that government incentives could potentially bridge. However, previous government policies have failed to attract investors to this energy...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasemi, Mahsa (Author) ; Nobahari, Hadi (Supervisor) ; Pourtakdoust, Hossein (Supervisor) ; Mohammad Karimi, Hamed (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is sliding mode control of a roll-pitch seeker by considering the zenith pass problem. This problem takes place when the target appears in front of the seeker’s head. First, the mathematical model of the roll and pitch frames is obtained by the Newton-Euler equations of motion. Then, a MIMO sliding mode controller is designed. The performance of the controller is investigated in the presence of model uncertainties and seeker disturbances. The results indicate that the designed controller is robust enough and provides a suitable performance in the stabilization, tracking and guidance loops.
