    The present paper addresses an analytical method to determine the overall behavior of piezocomposite materials containing body centered cubic (BCC) distribution of arbitrary oriented ellipsoidal heterogeneities. This approach is based on the extension of the electromechanical equivalent inclusion method (EMEIM) to interacting multi-inhomogeneities. In this treatment the short and long range interactions of the piezoelectric particles are appropriately incorporated through the homogenizing eigenstrainelectric field.     Abstract
    Use of infrared light for indoor wireless communications has received considerable attention recently. In this paper, we present results obtained from a large set of measurements performed at the University of Ottawa. We investigate impacts of receiver rotation and shadowing on the properties of indoor infrared channels. This paper contains a description of a measurement system developed and used throughout the experiments. Measurement results are used to find and present methods to estimate variations of channel path loss for small changes in the receiver direction, using statistical techniques. The system under consideration is subjected to far-field non-uniform electromechanical loadings.     A new, robust homogenization scheme for determination of the effective properties of a periodic piezoelectric composite with general multi-coated inhomogeneities is developed. In this scheme the coating does not have to be thin, the shape and orientation of the inclusion and coatings do not have to be identical, their centers do not have to coincide, their properties do not have to remain uniform, and the microstructure can be with the 2D elliptic or the 3D ellipsoidal inclusions.     This article is focused on a simple approach for determining the natural frequency and mode shape of laminated angle-ply plates with various shapes by rectangular orthotropy. Since the boundary of the domain for all shapes are not natural to the material coordinate axes it seems appropriate to express the plate displacement amplitude in terms of a polynomial and a general shape function multiplication in the x and y coordinates.     We study the trade-off between throughput and memory footprint of embedded software that is synthesized from acyclic static dataflow (task graph) specifications targeting distributed memory multiprocessors. We identify iteration overlapping as a knob in the synthesis process by which one can trade application throughput for its memory requirement.     Abstract
    This study numerically investigates uid ow and heat transfer enhancement of a two-dimensional developing laminar ow in an axisymmetric pipe with partially filled porous material attached to the wall. The effects of porous layer in the range of 0 ≤ δ=R < 1 and Darcy number in the range of 10-6 ≤ Da ≤ 10-4 are investigated. It is found that thermal entrance length increases with porous layer thickness and is longer than a plain pipe. In addition, the dependence of Nusselt number on the thickness of the porous layer is not monotonic. A critical value of the porous layer thickness exists at which the Nusselt number value reaches the minimum. As the porous layer is thickening, more uid is pushed...

    Abstract
    In this study, an analytical solution is presented for thermo-electro- elastic analysis of piezoelectric semi-infinite bodies. For this purpose, governing equations are derived for a transversely isotropic piezoelectric material under an axisymmetric thermo-electro-mechanical loading condition. A general closed-form analytical solution is presented for the complementary and particular parts of the components of the displacement vector and also for the electric potential function.     In this article, we synthesize a novel gelatin-based superabsorbent hydrogel via graft copolymerization of mixtures of acrylic acid (AA) and acrylamide (AAm) onto gelatin backbones. The polymerization reaction was carried out in an aqueous medium and in the presence of ammonium persulfate (APS) as an initiator and N,N-methylene bisacrylamide (MBA) as a crosslinker. The hydrogel structures were confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy.     Abstract
    The depth of anesthesia estimation has been of great interest in recent decades. In this paper, we present a new methodology to quantify the levels of consciousness. Our algorithm takes advantage of the fractal and self-similarity properties of the electroencephalogram (EEG) signal. We have studied the effect of anesthetic agents on the rate of the signal fluctuations. By translating these fluctuations with detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) algorithm to fractal exponent, we could describe the dynamics of brain during anesthesia. We found the optimum fractal-scaling exponent by selecting the best domain of box sizes, which have meaningful changes with different depth of anesthesia....

    Abstract
    The preparation of microcapsules containing perphenazine by solvent evaporation using ethyl cellulose is described. The microparticles are formed after solvent evaporation and polymer precipitation. The drug was dissolved in a polymer solution and emulsified into an aqueous phase to form microcapsules. To study the effects on particle size, encapsulation efficiency and morphology, three different molecular weights of ethyl cellulose (Mw=47000, 71000 and 99000) were used. Covalent bonding of drugs to polymers via hydrolytically or enzymatically cleavable covalent bond was achieved for sustained drug delivery.     Thiomorpholine 1,1-dioxides were prepared with double Michael addition reaction of aromatic amines to divinyl sulfone catalyzed by boric acid/glycerol in water.     In today's world, control and navigation of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are quite challenging issues. In these fields, obtaining an identified dynamic model of AUV is a vital part. In this paper, a method for parameter estimation of an AUV planar model is proposed, which uses augmented state space technique and Square Root Transformed Unscented Kalman Filter (SR-TUKF) as an estimator.
