Robust Scheduling of Flexible Units in Real-time Market Considering Demand Response Effects

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Heidarabadi, Houman (Author) ; Hosseini, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
With the expansion of renewable energy resources in power systems, due to the uncertainty with the output power of these power plants, there is a price sparks and load curtailment for some hours. One of the most important reasons for this sparks is the limited ability of units to provide unexpected changes in net load; on the other hand, the retirement of units with flexible thermal capacity, this liability in providing net load changes is more visible than before, because of the limited in ramprate of power plants at a specified time interval. For this reason, some of the independent system operators (ISO) have introduced various strategies to increase the system's flexibility to provide...

A robust approach to schedule flexible ramp in real-time electricity market considering demand response

    , Article 2017 25th Iranian Conference on Electrical Engineering, ICEE 2017, 2 May 2017 through 4 May 2017 ; 2017 , Pages 1159-1164 ; 9781509059638 (ISBN) Heidarabadi, H ; Hosseini, S. H ; Ranjbar, H ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Penetration of renewable energy resources in power systems and their uncertain natures have caused some challenges in a Real-Time Markets (RTMs) such as price forecasting and balancing issues. Independent System Operator's (ISO's) introduced flexible ramp products in RTMs to overcome this problem. In this paper, a novel method is presented for scheduling flexible ramp requirements in RTM considering Demand Response (DR). In this method, net load uncertainty is modeled using robust optimization (RO) technique in which each period is defined by some scenarios and RO is used to model the uncertainty of each scenario. In order to verify the effectiveness of the method, a typical case study is...

    Abstract
In the near future power systems, efficient management of uncertainties with considering the system constraints without any simplification will be a challenge for system operators. Considering AC constraints leads to providing more accurate schedule of generating units, which can have a significant impact on the reduction of operating costs. Although numerous studies have been done to convexify AC optimal power flow constraints, most of the models are non-linear, which can be intractable for large-scale systems. In this study, a novel linear robust AC model is introduced using a combination of the quadratic convex relaxation (QCR) and the Frank-Wolfe algorithm for linearising the AC...

Investigate the Relationship between the Structure of the Magnetic and Electrical properties of Iron-Based Soft Magnetic Composite Coated with Nanoparticles Magnetite

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Azadmanesh, Arefe (Author) ; Maddah Hosseini, Hamid Reza (Supervisor) ; Shokrollahi, Houman (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study, soft magnetic composite properties of iron base with insulation magnetite nanoparticles have been studied. First magnetite nanoparticles were prepared by co-precipitation method. The iron and magnetite particles with different weights were dissolved in acetone until the acetone evaporates and the composition uniformity of iron and magnetite powder was obtained. Then press the button on the 4 samples of 400, 600, 800, 1000 MPa, and the weight of Magnetite 1, 3, 5, 7 and 10 percent were cold. X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscope test results showed that iron and magnetite are homogenous distributed. The measurement of AC magnetic properties also suggest that by...

Evaluation of "brand image" Impact on Purchase Intention while Shopping for Cellular Phones in an Online Setting. A study

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Bahmani Heidarabadi, Zahra (Author) ; Sheikhzadeh, Mehdi (Supervisor) ; Ekhlasi, Amir (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Marketing channels are a set of organizations which because of having access to target market and communication with consumers play an effective role in consumer buying process and offering goods and services. The main purpose of this thesis is to investigate consumer buying process in online stores, as a marketing channel. In order to meet the objective and investigate customer’s attitude, the focus is on brand image whose three main components are: store brand image, product brand image, and product specifications. The three components collectively influence customer purchase intention. To have a holistic understanding of purchase process, the value of transaction is defined as a mediator...
