    Abstract
PRP is a combination of two classic problems. First one is the lot-sizing and the second one is vehicle’s routing which have been studied for more than fifty years. The prp is solved in attempt to jointly optimize production, inventory, distribution, routing decision and as a result, it is a inventory-routing problem as a whole. Despite the fact that prp involves a complex instructor, both universities and industries have been so eager to this problem since last decade. In this thesis an integrated assessment of PRP and various technics for solving the problem have been discussed. Moreover, taking into account the structure, hypothesis, and the constraints of the problem, a...

Development of Low-order Model/controllers for Oil Reservoir Smart Wells

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hemmati, Sahar (Author) ; Pishvaie, Mahmoud Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Upstream oil industry operators have turned to optimal production methods for further recoveries, such as smart wells. Control algorithms for smart wells must be equipped with online measurements, in other words, reflected in the feedback philosophy. On the other hand, after discretization, an oil reservoir's dynamic and control-driven model becomes a realization or a large-scale and sparse state space. One way to deal with this problem and provide an appropriate model for the design of smart well controllers is to use appropriate reservoir dimensional reduction methods. Therefore, to design low-order controllers, a study must first be performed at the level of the reservoir model and its...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghasemi, Forough (Author) ; Hormozi Nezhad, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Mahmoudi, Morteza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide NPs (SPIONs) because of their multi-task capabilities (e.g. magnetic labeling, cell isolation, hyperthermiaand controlled drug release) have been recognized as one of the most promising NPs for theranosis applications. When NPs come in contact with a biological medium, the surfaces of them are covered by biomolecules (e.g., proteins, natural organic materials, and enzymes). Therefore, what a biological entity, such as cells, tissues, and organs, sees when interacting with NPs is different original pristine surface of the NPs and actually is hard protein corona. Shape of NPs has a great impact on proteins adsorb onto its surface and consequently on the way that...

    Abstract
One of the problems that affects the lifetime and cycle life of lithium ion batteries is the localized corrosion of aluminum current collector (during the storage and charging cycle). Since applying corrosion-resistant coating has always been one of the ways to reduce corrosion of materials in different environments, in the present project, this method has been used to prevent corrosion of aluminum in lithium-ion batteries. For this purpose, the graphene oxide coating, which has desirable anti-corrosion properties, was coated on aluminum by Electrophoretic deposition and doctor blade methods. linear polarization, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were performed to...

Synthesis, Characterization and Surface Modification of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for Biomedical Applications

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Mahmoudi, Morteza (Author) ; Simchi, Abdolreza (Supervisor) ; Imani, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Bagheri, Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPION) with proper surface coatings are increasingly being evaluated for clinical applications such as hyperthermia, drug delivery, magnetic resonance imaging, transfection, and cell/protein separation. Since the particles with various sizes exhibit different flow rates in the same environment (same capillary size), it is essential to use particles of a desirable size for targeted drug delivery and imaging. Particles of different sizes may be exposed to different viscosities and behave differently, particularly with regard to their velocities as they move through capillaries. In the present work, SPION with different size, purity, shape and...

Vehicle Routing Problems with Mobile and Stochastic Customer Locations (VRP-MSCL)

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Shafaei, Abolfazl (Author) ; Akbari Jokar, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor) ; Rafiee, Majid (Supervisor) ; Hemmati, Ahmad (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
In classical vehicle routing problems, a fixed and specific location is considered for each customer, which in many cases does not reflect reality. Many customers change their locations when distribution is carried out, and in some cases, it is challenging to predetermine their locations. This thesis proposes and develops the Vehicle Routing Problem with Mobile and Stochastic Customer Locations (VRP-MSCL), a subproblem of last-mile delivery. The concept of mobile and stochastic customer refers to a type of customer who is constantly moving, lacks a fixed location, and cannot be identified in advance; however, forecasting customers’ locations in advance is possible. This concept introduces a...

Modeling and Characterizing Transient Behavior of Distillation Columns with Travelling Wave Theory

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hemmati Alam, Narjes (Author) ; Pishvaie, Mahmoud Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Simulation and controlling nonlinear process is one of the challenging problems in academic and industrial research. Saving data for keeping history of process or arising number of calculation for optimization in control design, is forcing to decrease number of equation or order of system. One of the methods to decrease the order of distillation process is using the travelling wave theory. This solution shows god accuracy for simulation the behavior of distillation column. On the other hand finite difference method as a solver for distillation equation takes some time to converge to steady state condition and the numbers of calculation in this method are high. Finite difference method is...

Application of Worm-Like Micelles for Heavy Oil Recovery: Experimental and Modeling

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hemmati, Nasim (Author) ; Ghaznafari, Mohammad Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Surfactants are widely used in enhancing oil recovery. But application of worm-like micelles which seem to be a perfect candidate for enhancing heavy oil recovery have been less studied despite their significant ability in reducing interfacial tension and their high viscosity. This research consists of three parts. In the first part, the kinetic and equilibrium adsorption of surfactant on reservoir rock is experimentally investigated, and its appropriate kinetic and equilibrium adsorption model is specified. According to the adsorption models, the pseudo second order kintic coefficient of adsorption is proved to have a linear relationship with concentration, so its value at different...

A misbehavior‐tolerant multipath routing protocol for wireless Ad hoc networks [electronic resource]

, Article International Journal of Research in Wireless Systems (IJRWS) ; Vol. 2, Issue 9, pp. , Sep. 2013 Sedghi, H. (Haniyeh) ; Pakravan, Mohammad Reza ; Aref, Mohammad Reza ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Secure routing is a major key to service maintenance in ad hoc networks. Ad hoc nature exposes the network to several types of node misbehavior or attacks. As a result of the resource limitations in such networks nodes may have a tendency to behave selfishly. Selfish behavior can have drastic impacts on network performance. We have proposed a Misbehavior-Tolerant Multipath Routing protocol (MTMR) which detects and punishes all types of misbehavior such as selfish behavior, wormhole, sinkhole and grey-hole attacks. The protocol utilizes a proactive approach to enforce cooperation. In addition, it uses a novel data redirection method to mitigate the impact of node misbehavior on network...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nematollahi, Mohammad Ali (Author) ; Gholamzadeh Mahmoudi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This master’s thesis has two major parts. The first part which includes chapters 1 to 8, describes the article A. Pfister, Quadratische Formen in beliebigen Körpern, Invent. Math. 1, (1966)pp. 116-132, and expresses important facts about the Witt ring W(K) of quadratic forms over an arbitrary field K of characteristic unequal to 2. Among those, it is shown that the order of each element in the additive group of W(K) is a power of 2, the Witt ring doesn’t have any zero divisor of odd dimension and a necessary and sufficient condition for W(K) to be an integral domain is given. The connections between the square class number of a field and the cardinality of its Witt ring and, providing some...

Synthesis of β-Amino Ketones Using Titania Based on Solid Acid as A Catalyst

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Samet, Masoud (Author) ; Mahmoudi Hashemi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Enanthioselective synthesis of biological molecules are so important in synthetic chemistry, and because of their biological activities, β-amino carbonyl compounds have earned so much attention in this area of chemistry. Mannich reaction is a classical method for synthesis of these molecules. The Mannich reaction is a three-component reaction between an enolizable CH-acidic carbonyl compound, an amine, and an aldehyde producing β-amino carbonyl compounds. But acidic or basic difficult circumstances, long reaction time, low yield and enantioselectivity, are the drawbacks of classical methods. In this project, we used titania-based solid acid as an enantioselective catalyst to overcome these...
