Analysis of Status, Treatment, and Complications in Pediatric Patients with Neuroblastoma
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Rafiee, Majid (Supervisor)
Abstract
Neuroblastoma is one of the most common extracranial solid tumors in children, accounting for a significant proportion of childhood cancer cases and associated with high mortality. This study aimed to classify and predict survival and relapse in patients with neuroblastoma based on clinicopathological data collected from patients at the Mahak Pediatric Cancer Hospital. In this context, machine learning algorithms were employed, which, by enabling the analysis of complex data, allowed for more accurate prediction of clinical outcomes. To establish a comprehensive platform for analyzing and evaluating different models, a heterogeneous ensemble framework was designed in this study. By combining...
The Evaluation of Global ELT Textbooks: A Task Type Perspective
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Alemi, Minoo (Supervisor) ; Jahangard, Ali (Co-Advisor)
Abstract
It is generally observed that the textbooks employed in the classrooms play a crucial role in the process of teaching and learning a second/foreign language. As a result, a number of studies have been carried out to evaluate English Language Teaching (ELT) materials. Trying to contribute to this growing body of literature, the present study was conducted to evaluate the eight most popular global textbooks which are taught in Iranian ELT institutes in terms of their task types according to Nunan’s (1999) classification of the tasks. Nunan (1999) classified tasks into different groups according to the strategies underpinning them. He divided tasks into five major groups each one consisting...

Abstract
Background While several studies have investigated the traditional linear measures in patients with knee osteoarthritis, no study has yet reported the non-linear structure of postural sway in these patients. Methods We used two non-linear methods, recurrence quantification analysis (percent of determinism-%DET) and central tendency measure, to respectively investigate differences in the complexity and variability of sway dynamics between two groups of knee osteoarthritis patients (n = 27) and healthy controls (n = 27) under different conditions of postural and cognitive tasks. The experimental conditions included standing on (1) rigid surface with open eyes; (2) rigid surface with closed...
