    Abstract
The evermore widespread use of microscopic traffic simulation in the analysis of road systems has refocused attention on sub models, including car-following and lane-changing models. In this research a microscopic model is developed which combines car-following and lane-changing models and describes driver behaviour as a crash risk reduction process of drivers. This model has been simulated by a cellular automata simulator and compared with the real data. It has been shown that there is no reason to consider the model invalid for drivers' behaviour in the basic segments of freeways in Iran, during not-congested conditions. Considering that uncertainty of position of vehicles is caused by...

    Abstract
Diffusion of key schedule algorithm plays an important role in security of block ciphers. In this paper, we present a new approach to key schedule diffusion analysis by taking the advantages of graph theory modeling. This modeling can help to disclose the weaknesses of key schedules. In this line, the key schedule weaknesses of Twine-128 are shown and an improved key schedule is proposed. In order to make a fair comparison, some parameters are introduced to quantify the diffusion property of key schedule, and compare the results for Twine-128 with both key schedules. The results show that the new key schedule made Twine-128 stronger. Also for more reliability, the results of biclique attack...

    Abstract
Controlling the safe distances between vehicles on freeways can be used to prevent many accidents. In this research, image-processing techniques have been used to develop an online system that calculates the longitudinal distances between vehicles. This system facilitates controlling safe distances between vehicles without the need for high technology devices. Our approach is real-time and simple, but efficient operations have been used to reduce the image occlusion problem. The main concept of this system is using simple, quick, and effective algorithms for calculating the position of each vehicle in each image. In this way, traffic parameters like speed and distances between vehicles can...

    Abstract
For characterizing Bauschinger effect factor (BEF) and Bauschinger modulus reduction of an A5083 aluminum alloy experimentally, several uniaxial tension- compression tests carried out in different pre-strain levels using INSTRON testing machine. BEF was investigated using both Welter and Milligan's definitions for various offset values. It was observed that Milligan's definition predicts BEF less than Welter's definition for all offset values. In addition, real loading-unloading behavior of such alloy was recorded to predict residual stresses resulting from autofrettage and shrink fit processes. Variable material properties (VMP) method, which is capable of incorporating real unloading...

    Abstract
Real loading- unloading behavior of an A5083 aluminum alloy was recorded experimentally. This real behavior was incorporated in the variable material properties (VMP) numerical algorithm to predict residual stresses resulted from autofrettage and shrink fit in two kinds of autofrettage compound tubes. Using an analytical method, residual stresses induced by bore material removal via machining were calculated. Using developed VMP code and isotropic hardening rule in both autofrettage compound tubes, residual stresses resulted from shrink fit and autofrettage processes and via post machining, were estimated. Machining process simulation was performed for 10 mm bore material removal. ANSYS...

    Abstract
In this paper, using numerical solutions of bore and outer radius hoop residual stresses in various tube geometries for autofrettage prior to shrink fit and shrink fit prior to autofrettage design are investigated, and the results are compared with monobloc autofrettaged and shrunk fit tubes. Both of the former compound tubes induce more compressive bore hoop residual stresses than a monobloc autofrettage and shrunk fit case. Furthermore, in geometries in which maximum bore hoop residual stresses are induced, the outer radius experiences acceptably low tensile residual stresses. Bore hoop residual stresses increase with increase of tube outer radius; however the rate of increasing decreases....

Combination of car following and lane changing models as a drivers' optimization process

, Article Proceedings of the Eighth International Conference on Applications of Advanced Technologies in Transportaion Engineering, Beijing, 26 May 2004 through 28 May 2004 ; 2004 , Pages 601-605 Hoseini, S. M. S ; Vaziri, M ; Shafahi, Y ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
There are many reported researches considering movement behavior of vehicles. In these studies the two basic types of movement of a vehicle are longitudinal movement, car following, and lateral movement, lane changing. Dependency between car following and lane changing models and the fact that many of drivers does not consider driving lanes, necessitate developing of models that combine the car following and lane changing without considering the driving lanes. Utilizing computer simulation, the work can also be applied to conditions where lane disciplines are strictly observed. Microscopic simulation models considering the movement of individual vehicles in a traffic stream can be...

    Abstract
Security evaluation of lightweight block ciphers plays a critical role to determine security margin of these ciphers. One of the methods to find the security margin of block ciphers is biclique cryptanalysis. In this paper, we present a new schematic for biclique attack which combines asymmetric biclique and early abort technique. Then, we apply it against Twine-128 to evaluate the security margin of Twine-128. As a result, we present two cryptanalysis for Twine-128, one with 2125.75 computational complexity and 260 data complexity, and the other with 212616 computational complexity and 28 data complexity. To the best of our knowledge, our results are the best in computational and data...

Residual stress analysis of the autofrettaged thick-walled tube using nonlinear kinematic hardening

    , Article Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, Transactions of the ASME ; Volume 135, Issue 2 , 2013 ; 00949930 (ISSN) Farrahi, G. H ; Voyiadjis, G ; Hoseini, S. H ; Hosseinian, E ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Recent research indicates that accurate material behavior modeling plays an important role in the estimation of residual stresses in the bore of autofrettaged tubes. In this paper, the material behavior under plastic deformation is considered to be a function of the first stress invariant in addition to the second and the third invariants of the deviatoric stress tensor. The yield surface is assumed to depend on the first stress invariant and the Lode angle parameter which is defined as a function of the second and the third invariants of the deviatoric stress tensor. Furthermore for estimating the unloading behavior, the Chaboche's hardening evolution equation is modified. These...

    Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel wireless random access scheme, combining the CSMA/CA mechanism with two control signals for initiating new transmissions and announcing receiver busy status, respectively. We also develop a time-space framework of performance analysis, enabling separate study of the temporal and spatial efficiency of the random access, i.e. the scheme's ability for contention resolution and efficient performance in time, and its ability to provide for concurrent transmissions in space. Based on this framework and using both analysis and simulation, we show that the proposed scheme outperforms the IEEE 802.11 DCF, in terms of the overall afforded throughput, and also in terms...

    Abstract
In this paper the effect of the re-autofrettage process on the residual stress distribution at the wall of a thick-walled tube is considered. For accurate material behavior modeling, it is assumed that the yield surface is a function of all the stress invariants. Also for estimating the behavior of the material under loading-unloading process, a modified Chaboche's hardening model is applied. For evaluation of this unloading behavior model a series of loading-unloading tests are conducted on specimens that are made of the high strength steel, DIN1.6959. In addition the finite element simulations are implemented to simulate the re-autofrettage process and to estimate the residual stresses....

    Abstract
Ultrasonic assisted machining (UAM) is an efficient nontraditional machining operation for brittle, hard-to-cut and poor-machinability materials. In UAM, high frequency oscillation in ultrasonic range at low amplitude is imposed on the workpiece or cutting tool. In most cases, the equipments that generates and transfers the vibration, have a complicated structure, and requires significant effort to achieve their optimum function. In this work, a mathematical model is developed and an optimization method is employed for design process. This makes it possible to achieve proper setup and reduce the amount of calculation. For this purpose, the combination of a two level full factorial design is...

    Abstract
This paper deals with the optimum design of vibration absorbers utilized to reduce undesirable random vibrational effects that are originated in linear structures. Analytical expressions, for the case of nonstationary white-noise accelerations, are derived. The criterion is different from most conventional optimum design criteria, since it is based on minimizing the displacement or the acceleration variance of the main structure responses, without considering performances required against failure. In this study, in order to control the structural vibrations induced on a mechanical structure excited by nonstationary based acceleration random process, the MOO (multi-objective optimum) design...

Payment Cost Minimization-Based Short-Term Unit Commitment Considering Incentive-Based Demand

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Azizi, Ali (Author) ; Hoseini, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
After restructuring in power systems, Independent System Operators (ISO's) are looked for an appropriate auction mechanism to find the market operation point. In deregulated electricity markets, Offer Cost Minimization (OCM) auction is used to minimize the total bid cost for selecting offer and demand bids. But a uniform market clearing price (MCP) or Locational Marginal Price (LMP) is used for consumer payments. Hence, the minimized bid cost is different from settlement cost. The used mechanisms are for manufactures offer and their cost functions optimization. The Payment Cost Minimization (PCM) is one of the mechanims that affect directly on the consumers payment and lead to reduction of...
