Payment Cost Minimization-Based Short-Term Unit Commitment Considering Incentive-Based Demand
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Hoseini, Hamid (Supervisor)
Abstract
After restructuring in power systems, Independent System Operators (ISO's) are looked for an appropriate auction mechanism to find the market operation point. In deregulated electricity markets, Offer Cost Minimization (OCM) auction is used to minimize the total bid cost for selecting offer and demand bids. But a uniform market clearing price (MCP) or Locational Marginal Price (LMP) is used for consumer payments. Hence, the minimized bid cost is different from settlement cost. The used mechanisms are for manufactures offer and their cost functions optimization. The Payment Cost Minimization (PCM) is one of the mechanims that affect directly on the consumers payment and lead to reduction of...
Optimum design process of vibration absorber via imperialist competitive algorithm
, Article International Journal of Structural Stability and Dynamics ; Volume 12, Issue 3 , 2012 ; 02194554 (ISSN) ; Salehipoor, H ; Sharif University of Technology
2012
Abstract
This paper deals with the optimum design of vibration absorbers utilized to reduce undesirable random vibrational effects that are originated in linear structures. Analytical expressions, for the case of nonstationary white-noise accelerations, are derived. The criterion is different from most conventional optimum design criteria, since it is based on minimizing the displacement or the acceleration variance of the main structure responses, without considering performances required against failure. In this study, in order to control the structural vibrations induced on a mechanical structure excited by nonstationary based acceleration random process, the MOO (multi-objective optimum) design...

Abstract
The objective of this paper is study of flowfield over the wing of a coplanar and close-coupled wing-canard configuration model using neural network, in order to reduce measurement points and experiment time. The results are based on flowfield pressure and wing surface pressure measurements at difference angles of attack, no sideslip and difference angles of canard. A GRNN (General Regression Neural Network) algorithm is developed to determine the shape and trajectory of vortices over this model. This network uses the total pressure coefficients of flowfield over the wing of this model that are obtained by total pressure probe as its input. The data presented to the network are processed to...
Hierarchical Fat-tree Topology for an Optical Network-on-Chip
, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Hessabi, Shahin (Supervisor)
Abstract
With increasing number of processors on a chip, the role of interconnections becomes more important in both power consumption and bandwidth. As a result, in MultiProcessor System-on-Chip architectures, the design constraints will shift from "Computational Constraints" to "Communicational Constraints". Nowadays, optical information transfer is introduced as a suitable substitution for electrical interconnections in chips, which can eliminate their problems. Many different optical networks have been presented so far. These networks can be divided into two subcategories. Networks of the first category use an electrical infrastructure as well as optical one. Hence, the scalability of scheme is...

Abstract
In the first description if we describe technology as a tool, Communication technologies or media should be consider as the most important element of today's technological world. This research is going to cover reconsidering and recreating the mean of media based on the Ideas of JacquesDerrida. In this regard, two major dichotomy is evident in the public understanding of media. meanwhile "media versus message" and on the other hand opposition between "media and audience". So deconstruction in the face of these binary oppositions, want to read out the notion that message is superior to media, and on the other hand to deconstruction of the hegemony of the media on the audience

Abstract
The evermore widespread use of microscopic traffic simulation in the analysis of road systems has refocused attention on sub models, including car-following and lane-changing models. In this research a microscopic model is developed which combines car-following and lane-changing models and describes driver behaviour as a crash risk reduction process of drivers. This model has been simulated by a cellular automata simulator and compared with the real data. It has been shown that there is no reason to consider the model invalid for drivers' behaviour in the basic segments of freeways in Iran, during not-congested conditions. Considering that uncertainty of position of vehicles is caused by...

Investigation of breakdown voltage in InAIAs/InGaAs/InP HEMTs with different structures
, Article IEICE Electronics Express ; Volume 7, Issue 19 , 2010 , Pages 1447-1452 ; 13492543 (ISSN) ; Faez, R ; Hoseini, H. R ; Sharif University of Technology

Abstract
InAlAs/InGaAs/InP high electron mobility transistors have higher mobility comparing to structures without indium. But existence of indium causes smaller Eg and as a result smaller breakdown voltage. However, increasing percentage of indium results in higher mobility and as a result higher current and transconductance. Therefore decreasing percentage of indium causes higher breakdown voltage at the sometime lower transconductance. One of the most important parameters that limit maximum output power of transistor is breakdown voltage. In this paper, InAIAs/InGaAs/InP HEMTs with different structures are simulated and a structure with a good transconductance and breakdown voltage is introduced

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology ; Maddah Hoseini, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
Abstract
The aim of this project is the surface modification of super para magnetic iron oxide (SPIONs), leading to oriented covalent bonding of antibody(AB) to these nanoparticles (NPs) and improve the efficiency of cell separation at MACS columns. For this purpose, SPIONs synthesized by co-precipitation method, and the stability of colloidal NPs then was provided by coating with Dextran . We used TGA to measure weight percentage of dextran. Some properties like particle size, hydrodynamic diameter, presence of coating and superparamagnetic properties were characterized by XRD (16 nm), FTIR, DLS (73 nm), TEM (20nm) and VSM (≈76/78 emu/g) method, respectively. Then we tried to immobilize AB on NPs...

Abstract
This article points out the real-world prevalence of the multiple-product, multiple-constraint newsboy problem with two objectivesthe 'newsstand problem'in which there are total and incremental discounts on purchasing prices. The constraints are the warehouse capacity and the batch forms of the order placements. The first objective of this problem is to find the order quantities that maximize expected profit, and the second objective is maximizing the service rate. It is assumed that the holding and shortage costs, modelled by a quadratic function, occur at the end of the period. Moreover, the decision variables are integer. A formulation of the problem is presented and shown to be an...

Abstract
For characterizing Bauschinger effect factor (BEF) and Bauschinger modulus reduction of an A5083 aluminum alloy experimentally, several uniaxial tension- compression tests carried out in different pre-strain levels using INSTRON testing machine. BEF was investigated using both Welter and Milligan's definitions for various offset values. It was observed that Milligan's definition predicts BEF less than Welter's definition for all offset values. In addition, real loading-unloading behavior of such alloy was recorded to predict residual stresses resulting from autofrettage and shrink fit processes. Variable material properties (VMP) method, which is capable of incorporating real unloading...
