    Abstract
Text processing, as one of the main issues in the field of artificial intelligence, has received a lot of attention in recent decades. Numerous methods and algorithms are proposed to address the task of semantic textual similarity which is one of the sub-branches of text processing. Due to the special features of the Persian language and its non-standard writing system, finding semantic similarity is an even more challenging task in Persian. On the other hand, producing a proper corpus that can be used for training a model for finding semantic similarities, is of great importance. In this study, the main purpose is to propose a method for measuring the semantic similarity between short...

Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) play a significant role in hydraulic modeling and flood risk management. This study initially investigated the effect of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) DEM resolutions, ranging from 1 m to 30 m, on flood characteristics, including the inundation area, mean flow depth, and mean flow velocity. Then, the errors of flood characteristics for global DEMs, comprising ALOS (30 m), ASTER (30 m), SRTM (30 m), and TDX (12 m) were quantified using UAV DEM measurements. For these purposes, the HEC-RAS 2D model in steady-state conditions was used to simulate the flood with return periods of 5- to 200 years along 20 km reach of Atrak River located in northeastern Iran....

A layerwise finite element for geometrically nonlinear analysis of composite shells

    , Article Composite Structures ; Volume 186 , 2018 , Pages 355-364 ; 02638223 (ISSN) Hosseini Kordkheili, S. A ; Soltani, Z ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2018
    Abstract
This work aims to develop a nonlinear layerwise shell element formulation for shear-deformable laminated composite plate and shell structures. The element is formulated based on a zigzag theory in presence of individual local coordinates in the thickness direction for separate layers. In order to properly employ the zigzag theory, the considered local coordinates have different ranges of variation for middle, upper and lower layers. Using Mindlin-Reissner theory a convenient displacement field is derived for each layer and an ordered algorithm is adapted to calculate increments in the director vector of each layer due to relative finite rotations of its adjacent layers. Employing this shear...

    Abstract
In recent years, analyzing genome-wide expression profiles to find genetic markers has received much attention as a challenging field of research aiming at unveiling biological mechanisms behind complex disorders. The identification of reliable and reproducible markers has lately been achieved by integrating genome-scale functional relationships and transcriptome datasets, and a number of algorithms have been developed to support this strategy. In this paper, we present a promising and easily applicable tool to accomplish this goal, namely CytoGTA, which is a Cytoscape plug-in that relies on an optimistic game theoretic approach (GTA) for identifying subnetwork markers. Given transcriptomic...

    Abstract
Kinetics of air oxidation of MgO-C-Al refractory at 600°-1300°C were investigated using the software based on the modifled shrinking core model (KDA). Commercial bricks containing 88.5% MgO, 10% residual carbon, and 1.5% aluminum anti-oxidant were oxidized isothermally with air. Combination of experimental data with model calculations indicated gas diffusion through solid material and pores as a major controlling step. Previously observed chemisorption process was eliminated from the rate-controlling mechanism with addition of aluminum antioxidant. Comprehensive rate equations were devised for MgO-C-Al and MgO-C oxidation reactions. Overall activation energies of Q id (internal diffusion) =...

Ancillary services in interconnected networks are crucial to secure real power transfers, maintaining network reliability, improving power quality as well as network stability. Reactive power has always been of special importance as one of the most substantial ancillary services required to control the voltage in power grid. This paper presents a fresh reactive power pricing approach by embedding variable transformer taps into voltage ampere reactive (var) pricing method. To carry out the resultant optimization problem with a set of complicating constraints, the genetic algorithm takes part and guarantees the global optimal solution. The simulation results show that when transformer tap...

    Abstract
In pervasive computing environments, a user can access resources and services from any where and at any time; thus a key security challenge in these environments is the design of an effective access control model which is aware of context modifications. Changes in context may trigger changes in authorizations. In this paper, we propose a new context-aware access control model based on role-based access control model for pervasive computing environments. We assign roles to users dynamically based on the long-term context information and tune active role's permissions according to the short-term context information of the users and environment. © 2007 IEEE

    Abstract
Variable speed wind turbines are widely used in the modern power industry. These turbines that are usually driven by doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) contain two groups of controlling variables; mechanical variables like pitch angle, and electrical variables like rotor voltage. During the turbine operation, with variable wind speed, power must be managed in two different regimes; power optimization and power limitation. In the current research, initially a non-linear simulation, based on the general wind turbine dynamic model is presented. Then, the desired controllers for both pitch angle and generator voltage components are constructed. To validate turbine behavior and controller...

    Abstract
A comparison of three common controllers for stabilising a vertical take-off and landing air vehicle is presented. RMIT is a small sized tail-sitter ducted fan air vehicle with a particular configuration layout, multiple control surfaces, low weight, and high-speed flight capability. The main problem here is control effectiveness at low flight speeds and transition manoeuvres because of the inherent instability. In the current study, a comprehensive nonlinear model is firstly developed for RMIT, followed by a validation process. Subsequently, linear, adaptive and model predictive controllers are designed in vertical flight. Based on the simulation results, it is shown that the linear...

    Abstract
A novel adaptive model-based predictive controller for attitude and trajectory tracking of a vertical take-off and landing(VTOL) aircraft in the simultaneous presence of model uncertainties and external disturbances is introduced in this study. Animportant challenge of designing the model-based controllers is developing an accurate model, especially in the presence ofmodel uncertainties. In this study, first, the nominal model of a ducted-fan air vehicle, which is a multi-input multi-outputnonlinear system with non-minimum phase behaviour, is given as the test case of this research. After that, two modified robustand adaptive model predictive controllers are proposed for tracking a...

Multimodel ELM-based identification of an aircraft dynamics in the entire flight envelope

    , Article IEEE Transactions on Aerospace and Electronic Systems ; Volume 55, Issue 5 , 2019 , Pages 2181-2194 ; 00189251 (ISSN) Emami, S. A ; Roudbari, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
The development of a multiple model-based identification algorithm is addressed in this paper for nonlinear modeling of a conventional aircraft in the entire flight envelope. The dynamic model of an aircraft varies significantly depending on changes in the flight condition of the air vehicle including the altitude and the equivalent air speed. Therefore, the conventional identification approaches for generating a single nonlinear model with time-invariant parameters cannot be used in the entire flight envelope of an aircraft. Accordingly, a multiple model-based approach using nonlinear autoregressive exogenous neural networks is introduced in this paper as a powerful tool in identifying...
