Experimental Modeling of Gas-liquid Two-phase Flow in a Tapered Upriser Pipe

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Isazadeh Zaraki, Hesam (Author) ; Saeedi, Mohammad Hassan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
There are different flow regimes in multiphase flows through the pipes, which affect the flow structure and other important fluid parameters. Each of these flow regimes are considered to be suitable or not in different industries. So it is needed to provide the situation of suitable flow regimes formation and to prevent the others from development. One of the main parameters affecting the flow regimes development is considered to be the passing flow’s channel section are or the pipe diameter. This project is defined to investigate the effect of changing pipe diameter on the formation of flow regimes in an air-water upward two-phase flow, experimentally. Therefore, a vertical pipe of 6 meters...

Dynamic modeling and sensitivity analysis of atomic force microscope pushing force in nanoparticle manipulation on a rough substrate [electronic resource]

, Article Journal of Advanced Science, Engineering and Medicine ; 2013, Vol. 5, pp. 1-10 Babahosseini, H. (Hesam) ; Mahboobi, Seyed Hanif ; Meghdari, Ali ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
An Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) is a capable tool to manipulate nanoparticles by exerting pushing force on the nanoparticles located on the substrate. In reality, the substrate cannot be considered as a smooth surface particularly at the nanoscale. Hence, the particle may encounter a step on the substrate during a manipulation. In this study, dynamics of the nanoparticle on a stepped substrate and critical pushing force in the manipulation are investigated. There are two possible dynamic modes that may happen in the manipulation on the stepped substrate. In one mode, the nanoparticle may slide on the step edge and then climb up to the step which is a desired mode. Another possible mode is...

    Abstract
Nowadays, research in the field of software architecture has become an important topic as a key element in software processes. Software Development Methodologies are not excluded. Importance and the need to improve and maintain methods, training new people and producing reasonable documents have highlighted the role of software architecture, especially in the methods that do not good predictions for these cases. In this project a solution would be introduced that we can extract the architecture of a methodology by using in hand techniques and tools. Then we would map the extracted architecture to architectural styles. So in addition of the benefit of using an architecture based design, we...

Some improvements on the one-step inverse isogeometric analysis by proposing a multi-step inverse isogeometric methodology in sheet metal stamping processes

    , Article Applied Mathematical Modelling ; Volume 91 , March , 2021 , Pages 476-492 ; 0307904X (ISSN) Isazadeh, A. R ; Shamloofard, M ; Assempour, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Inc  2021
    Abstract
Recently, isogeometric methodology has been successfully implemented in one-step inverse analysis of sheet metal stamping processes. However, these models are not capable of analyzing forming processes which require severe deformation and/or several forming stages. This paper presents a multi-step inverse isogeometric methodology to enhance the precision of one-step models in predictions of the initial blank, strain distributions, and drawability of the formed parts. This methodology deals with the minimization of potential energy, deformation theory of plasticity, and considering membrane elements. The presented methodology utilizes the NURBS basis functions to create the final, middle, and...

    Abstract
The Latian dam is located on the Jajrood River in the northeast of Tehran the capital of Iran. It is one of the most important water supply reservoirs in this city and supplies 30 percent of the total water demand of 11 million people in this city. This research measures phosphorus release from sediments of Latian Dam and the role of the tubifex in phosphorus release. Because of sediment composition variation, sediment sample were taken from two points in the Latian dam. The sediments were analyzed for total phosphorus, the form of phosphorus and release rate under different conditions of water column and the absence or present of tubifex. The results show that the amount of phosphorus are...

    Abstract
Bilateral PPG signals have been used for comparative study of two groups of healthy (free from any cardiovascular risk factors) and diabetic (as cardiovascular disease risk group) subjects in the age-matched range 40-50 years. The peripheral blood pulsations were recorded simultaneously from right and left index fingers for 90 s. Pulses have been modeled with the ARX440 model in the interval of 300 sample points with 100 sample points overlap between segments. Model parameters of three segments based on the highest fitness (higher than 80%) of modeled segments were retained for each subject. Subsequently, principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to the parameters of retained segments...

VoIP users’ Quality of Experience (QoE)Evaluation

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Hesam Mohseni, Abdorreza (Author) ; Jahangir, Amir Hossein (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Quality of Experience (QoE) indicates the overall quality of one service such as Voice over IP (VoIP) from users' point of view by considering several systems, human, and contextual factors. QoE measurement and prediction are more challenging than Quality of Service (QoS) which is only related to network parameters. There exist various objective and subjective methods for QoE prediction. This research investigates various features affecting QoE by proposing a comprehensive subjective evaluation by employing a large number of users. We show that many unconsidered factors including speaker specifications and signal properties, such as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), can affect QoE so that the SNR...

    Abstract
Quality of Experience (QoE) measures the overall quality of a service from users’ point of view by considering several system, human, and contextual factors. There exist various objective and subjective methods for QoE prediction. Although the subjective approach is more expensive and challenging than the objective approach, QoE’s level can be more accurately determined by a subjective test. This paper investigates various features affecting QoE by proposing a comprehensive subjective evaluation. First, we show that many unconsidered factors can significantly affect QoE. We have generated voice samples featuring different values for novel factors related to the speaker, signal, and network....
