    Long Period Variable Stars in the Local Group Galaxies

    Abstract
    In this thesis, the star formation history and evolution of IC 1613 dwarf galaxy and NGC 5128 giant elliptical galaxy has been studied. About IC 1613, our result shows that the star formation history of the galaxy is roughly constant in 5 Gyr ago and this support that the galaxy had been isolated at least in 5 Gyr ago. About NGC 5128, we can see that the star formation rate has suddenly increased in 700 Myr and 3.5 Gyr ago. This results in very good agreement with literature support that the galaxy has experienced some mergers with smaller gas rich galaxies

    Studying the dynamics of vesicles in simple shear flow is the first step to decipher the dynamics of cells in flows or the motion of vesicle-based nanoparticles in vessels for drug delivery. The deformation of vesicle in shear flow changes the permeability of its membrane and may lead to its rupture, both of which correlate with the transportation of vesicle cargos to their environment, especially important in drug delivery.     Oxidation of Sulfides and Olefins in the Presence of Nanocluster Polyoxotungstate–intercalated Layered Double Hydroxide Nanoparticles as a Catalyst

    In this study, polyoxometalate (POM) intercalated in the layered double hydroxide (LDH) was synthesized by a selective ion-exchange method. For this purpose, the nanocluster [VW12O40]3- was immobilized on the Mg2+/A13+/Cl–LDH support. The heterogeneous catalyst was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM and analysis of ICP. The LDH-POM was applied as a catalyst in efficient oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides using UHP as oxidant and CH3OH/ CH¬2¬Cl¬2 ¬as a solvent at room temperature, as well as epoxidation of olefins using TBHP as an oxidants and C¬2H4Cl2 as a solvent in 84°C.     This paper is aimed at investigating some computational aspects of different isoperimetric problems on weighted trees. In this regard, we consider different connectivity parameters called minimum normalized cuts/isoperimetric numbers defined through taking the minimum of the maximum or the mean of the normalized outgoing flows from a set of subdomains of vertices, where these subdomains constitute a partition/subpartition.     In the absence of powerful rigorous models, in this research a simple but practical method for calculating the temperature and residence time and carbon black yield in oil-furnace reactors is proposed. For this purpose an empirical formula of the form CXHY is assumed for the carbon black feedstock based on typical feedstock used in this industry. Based on the prevailing reactor conditions, thermodynamic considerations and available outlet tail gas from the reactor, a few representative reactions are considered to describe the entire reaction network. In this regard we focus on the nth mean isoperimetric constant of a directed graph as the minimum of the mean outgoing normalized flows from a given set of n disjoint subsets of the vertex set of the graph.     The purpose of this study is to predict the activation barriers and enthalpy for elementary steps in the process of Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) on the surfaces of Fe(110), Cu(111) and Fe/Cu alloys catalyst using "Unity Bond Index-Quadratic Exponential Potential" method aimed at predicting the activity and selectivity on the basis of energy criteria.     In this paper, microgravity modulation effects on free convection in a cavity are investigated using the lattice Boltzmann method.     In this paper, flow separation control over a NACA 4415 wing section using arrays of discrete quasi-radial wall jets is numerically investigated. This novel flow control method is studied under conditions which the wing section angle of attack is α=18 degrees and Reynolds number based on chord length is Rec=550000. Contours of mean streamwise velocity indicated that quasi-radial wall jets cover wing surface rapidly. Therefore, arranging them in a spanwise row can be an effective way in adding momentum to the near wall fluid particles.     This work aims to introduce a novel concept of wall jets wherein the flow is radially injected into a medium through a sector of a cylinder, called quasi-radial (QR) wall jets. The results revealed that fluid dynamics of the QR wall jet flow differs from that of conventional wall jets.     Given a graph, the sparsest cut problem asks for a subset of vertices whose edge expansion (the normalized cut given by the subset) is minimized. In this paper, we study a generalization of this problem seeking for k disjoint subsets of vertices (clusters) whose edge expansions are small and furthermore, the number of vertices that remained in the exterior of the subsets (outliers) is also small. It is proved in Daneshgar et al. (2012) that this problem is NP-hard for trees.
