Nanoparticles and Surfactants Complex Effects on Water Evaporation

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Behnejhad Takleh, Katayoun (Author) ; Bastani, Dariush (Supervisor) ; Jvadi, Aliyar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Interest in the study of evaporation of liquid droplets is associated with a variety of practical applications, ranging from fuel burning and intensification of heat and mass transfer processes to formation of nanostructures. The study of the evaporation of liquid droplets is a fundamental problem, and it is the subject of a large number of works. However, in droplet evaporation processes, there are still many fundamental issues requiring more in-depth studies. In this study, the effect of the presence of hydrophilic silica nanoparticles and cationic (CTAB), anionic (SDS) and nonionic (TX-100) surfactants separately and in combination on the evaporation rate of water in a pendant droplet...

Non-equilibrium Interfacial Properties of Dynamic Interfaces; Experimental and Computational Fluid Dynamic Investigations

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Lotfi, Marzieh (Author) ; Bastani, Daruoosh (Supervisor) ; Miller, Reinhard (Supervisor) ; Javadi, Aliyar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Surface phenomena and dynamic Interfacial properties play an important role in gas- liquid and liquid-liquid multiphase process from various industrial applications to understand fundamental phenomena. However, there is no experimental equipment and efficient methods for quantitative and detail investigation of interfacial properties under fast and non-equilibrium dynamic condition due to mobility and refreshing of interface (such as rising bubble). Also existing models accompanied with a lot of simplifications which is not yet validated with a proper experimental data. In presented thesis work for the first time, quantitative study of dynamic adsorption layer in multiphase systems and more...
